  1. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:44 PM) Yeah the struggling bullpen with quality arms like Sisco, Aardsma, MacDougal, Thornton, etc. you can certainly give Kenny a pass on. Nobody was claiming before the season that we had the worst pen in the AL. However, this outfield issue we have was utterly predictable,. Let's say that our outfield was healthy with Erstad, Pods, and Dye and they all played 150 games. We'd STILL have an average-below average OF especially for an AL team Sisco and Aardsma were guys that a lot of people on this board *waives* thought would be horrible going back to March. But I agree that with Mac and Thornton it's hard to get on KW, nobody would have thought they'd be this bad.
  2. It sucks our organization where it HAS to trade Buehrle for the sake of having any chance in the future isn't it?
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) I vaguely remember the Sox being pretty darn bad back in what, 89? Where Thigpen saved like every win? That was 1990 and I was 4 so I don't go back that far. As for KW, I'd say give him a chance he has a ring, but one problem. This is going to take at least a few years to fix, and I don't trust him to fix this organization with a grassroots campaign based on what our minor league system has been under his guidance.
  4. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) This team has not had a below .500 season since 1999. Since 1990, they finished in 1st or 2nd place 14 out of 17 years with one world championship (the other three years in third place). Minnesota can't claim that, Detroit can't claim that and Cleveland, even with their division titles and no WS Championships, can't claim that kind of record. We have had a great run. You should be proud of this organization. They have always been competitive. There needs to be changes made in scouting and the players on the field, but not the mass firings you are hoping for. Sorry. That doesn't make any sense. We've made the playoffs 3 years out of 18 including this year, so once every 6 years. We've won one postseason game or more twice in 18 years, so once every 9. If you enjoy the mediocrity we've had most years (decent, but not good enough) that is your problem sir.
  5. Not only have I not seen a Sox team this bad, I've never seen one close to this bad. And that's in a 15 year span. This also might be as bad as I've ever seen our minor league system. And yet people still defend KW, why? We are in a legit position to finish in 5th place.
  6. There better be many, many more firings before this year is out. Nobody should be safe.
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Just bring up Anderson and Sweeney and let em play with Fields. Anderson needs to get his average above .240 and his health in order before he earns a callup.
  8. He came back about a month too early, so this is no surprise. Meanwhile Pods is in week 2 of his rehab assignment. Awesome.
  9. They could fire, trade, or let go of anybody in this organization right now and I wouldn't mind, with the exception of 3 major leaguers and 3 minor leaguers. It's almost embarassing to be a fan of this organization right now. Heads need to roll.
  10. Rockies beat the Yanks 4-3 today to sweep 3 in a row from the formerly red hot New Yorkers. The Rockies are now 20-7 in their last 27 to turn a horrid 18-27 to a respectable by NL standards 38-34, only 3 and a half out of 1st (although also only good for 4th in the quietly really good NL West). Jeff Francis is on fire and today's winner, Rodrigo Lopez, has had a bewildering resurgance this year. And they have a lot of guys that can hit. Also, the Brewers are red hot and if you take a look at their schedule the next few weeks, they have a chance to really make hay and build a lead in the NL Central that is insurmountable.
  11. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) I have zero faith in any pitcher from this organization coming up and producing at the MLB level, especially thinking a 24 year old from AA is going to be a 3-4 starter.. give me a break Now THAT is a fair response. If you had put that as your first response I'd have left you alone .
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 12:28 PM) It was sky high. Usually you can't tell how the wind will affect a ball by looking at the flags at USCF. The were blowing almost straight out. I think he hit it so high, it was above the scoreboard and roof and it gave it a big push. He was so resigned to being out, he damn near passed Dye on the bases. When he saw it was a homer he was a little stunned. Correct. Fields homer was blown out by the winds, and the ball Konerko hit later in that game, which was CRUSHED, died at the track. The winds at The Cell are simply impossible to read, toughest I've ever seen by far and i've been to 2/3 of the stadiums in the MLB.
  13. I hope we win 2 of 3 just to beat the Cubs. I hope we do not sweep them and give KW false straws to grasp at. Being swept or losing 2 of 3 would suck but maybe we'll do SOMETHING if that happens at least.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) Aaron Cook, Clay Hensley, Shawn Hill All three are sinkerballers who were old for their league. All three posted worse numbers than Eggy. He's a legit prospect. He's not going to be a 1 or 2, but a solid 3-4 for cheap is very likely. Exactly. I'm not saying he's an ace, but he looks like a cheap late blooming back of the rotation sinkerballer to me, which is not bad and for our organization is awfully good in fact.
  15. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) Im not a fan, and find it ridiculous his name is mentioned as a possible rotation spot for when Buehrle is traded.. Can you give me an actual reason as to why it's so ridiculous his name is mentioned? The numbers don't lie, I mean it's ok if you don't like him but to find it ridiculous he's mentioned is a bit extreme.
  16. I thought for sure Gio would make it, but congrats to DLS.
  17. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) uh, Egbert This board is killing me with all the Egbert love.. He's given up 3 home runs the last 2 years (254 innings) with a 2 to 1 ground ball to fly ball ratio and a about 4/5 of a strikeout per inning, low walk totals, only about 4/5 of a hit per inning allowed, and a .230 average against with an ERA under 3. Not sure what is not to love other than he's a bit older at 24.
  18. career vs. lefties: .297/.370/.468/.838 overall: .271/.354/.430/.784 28 years old, can play all 3 OF spots I think (at least 2 for sure), we are desperate for OF's.....I don't care if we are out of the race, if we can get A.J. when nobody else wants him and keep him under control, I don't see why Bradley isn't worth a shot.
  19. Who would you like to see get the first shot in the rotation? And you can put several guys in an order you like in case there are also injuries/somebody struggling/other trades. The list of guys I immediately think of is Masset, Broadway, Floyd, Russell, Egbert, and Gio. Here is my list: 1. Masset (I'm really curious what he would do as a starter) 2. Floyd (With his age, now or never point is nearing as he pitches better at AAA) 3. Egbert (His GO/AO and our ballpark seem like a perfect fit) After that, I don't think Gio is ready, Broadway is doing well at AAA but I don't trust his control enough with the 2 seamer yet, and Russell is struggling way too much at AA for me to think he's ready.
  20. What has been the key to your success in the dominant 4 starts you've had so far this June? (today was his 4th start this month) Pitching in an organization whose AAA and major league teams both play in notorious hitter friendly parks, does it make you concentrate harder on keeping all of your pitches down in the zone and getting ahead early in counts? With the White Sox struggling this year and rumors all over about the possibility of a "fire sale", does that motivate you any more than usual knowing there might be an opportunity to show what you can do at the highest level later this season if you continue to pitch well? What pitch do you consider your best pitch, what pitch do you consider your most important to be successful, and what pitch do you like to go to most when in a jam?
  21. Juan Uribe is a human pile of waste. Even when he hits for the first time in a month, he can't field. And then we left Garland in too long, he was saved to end the 7th by the great defensive play but was running out of fuel. And then Bobby Jenks gives up a 3 run homer to JASON WOOD?!??! Plus, our manager concludes today is a good day to try and make our closer get a 6 out save, AND decides to leave him in for the 9th after the cat is out of the bag. And our lack of talent showed today too. Today's loss showed off everything wrong with our team right now which is, well everything except our starting pitching and Josh Fields right now, with Mackowiak, Terrero, and A.J. being adequate as well. Maybe if the Cubs sweep us and it becomes over a month without a series win, somebody loses their job. But I doubt it. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) What clip did the Indian's play at in '05? I wonder too what clip that far more talented team that missed the playoffs played at too.
  22. As nice as it was to get a win, it still took 4 unearned runs and a bevy of gifts from their defense and at 'em balls to help Count to beat a mediocre NL team with an 11 dollar payroll. But beggars can't be choosers, at least we hit for once.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Bummer - Sox win. We had a win handed to us with 4 unearned runs against a mediocre NL team at home. Calm down buddy.
  24. Christ....get Jenks in there already. I have never seen a pitcher worse with 2 outs than Nick Masset in my entire life. Make it quick Bobby.
  25. Masset is killing me. He looks awfully good against 3 really good hitters, gets a first pitch strike against the 4th, and then 4 straight balls for a walk. GET THE THIRD OUT FOR ONCE NICK!!!
