  1. Danks winning ROY would be more a testament to how well the organization sandbagged about a meh prospect like B Mac, then got a superior and solid arm for him in return, than anything else.
  2. Wow Boone even got a righty out, nice inning. Please no Sisco in the 9th....please? Oh, and again, I love D.J.
  3. Check Gooch's glove for burn marks, but what a play.
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 22, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) Thought AJ couldn't hit a leftie? I think Hall was a nice wake up call for him. He's a career .249 hitter against lefties and .297 against righties. This year, he's .292 against lefties and .245 against righties. Albeit, it's 24 AB's against lefties and 110 AB's against righties, but still it's weird, totally reversed numbers from his career. And I love D.J. lol.
  5. Great play by Ellis, wow. And who is Bobby Gritch, Hawk?
  6. He threw several off speed pitches there (including the last one to get Swisher), which is VERY good to see. Coop must have said something to him about how you need more than 1 pitch. Great inning.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 22, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) I'm pretty sure that's wrong. I remember when he hit 102, and DJ and Hawk said something like "102?!" as the pitch was caught by the catcher. The pitch that was hit for a double to RF was the next pitch, or a few pitches later. He hit 102 twice against Sexson. The first time was the "102?!" reaction because Sexson swung and missed. He then fouled off back to back pitches at 101 and 100, before doubling the 2nd 102 pitch down the RF line. And Fathom is right, we threw Ichiro out at the plate to save a lead on that play. That series had 102 and Brian Anderson hitting 2 homers off King Felix in 1 game. Must have been a full moon.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 22, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) Jesus didn't fish low and away. Our rally proton accelerators seem to be working. This one is not over yet.
  9. Thome is like a better version of Jesus when he bats.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 22, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) What happened on the Erstad play? He charged to try and throw home even though the runner was stopping, kicked it away, runner scored. And now Pablo's play has been scored an error too, well done scorekeeper. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 22, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) The odd thing is this offense started to click once Crede left the lineup against the Cubs. He and Iguchi has been giving the worst at bats on the team IMO, so that's not a coincidence. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 22, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Sucks for Danks that Ozuna's miscue was a hit. Now it's not according to DJ, good news.
  11. The double play also means that only 1 of those 2 runs last inning is earned, I believe. Justification, although it should have been no runs.
  12. Nice job pitching over that John. Danks' stuff has been as poor as i've seen all year in terms of just what he's tossing up there, but he's got some defensive help, a ton of offensive help, and he's still pitching a decent game. Nice to see us picking him up instead of the other way around for once.
  13. The one thing I say that I DID think was an exaggeration has turned out accurate, Pablo costs us at least 1 run everygame he plays at 3rd. Now we are still going to win tonight, but it's gonna kill us in close games if this goes on for an extended period. Like I said, DL Crede or get him in, we can't have this defensive lineup out there. Still a fun game though!!
  14. He's tied for the lead league in saves, and 13 for 14 percentage wise. Will a day ever come where that is good enough and he doesn't have to throw 1 million miles an hour? Keep in mind, the fastest pitch he's ever thrown (102 in Seattle right after he came up in '05) was smased for a double.
  15. Well, half of the garbage exchanged in that deal is where it belongs now.....the ironic thing is the only arm of value in that deal is Vasquez, who is looking really good for us in AAA. It's pretty amazing how long Cotts and Aardsma pitched really well though, they each kept that fraud alive for a solid month.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 21, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Wow -- judging the trade on a start-to-start basis. Pure brilliance! I'm talking about McCarthy's last 4 or 5 starts now, not just this one. He's been pretty good for about 3 weeks or so now.
  17. Well to be fair, if Ozuna slows down and touches 3rd, it's 8-3 heading to the bottom of the 8th and the pen is still untouched. Pablo's defense will cost us at least 1 run a game at 3rd, which is why we have to decide if we DL Crede or not very quickly. MacDougal still looks awful though, despite that.
  18. Getz got hurt last night, and Brian got hurt tonight, just for clarification. Getz has an ankle and Brian screwed up his shoulder/neck area, they weren't really sure. Carter was quiet tonight for once (0 for 3 with a walk), Schnur was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, Cunningham 1 for 3 with a walk and sac fly, Ricks 1 for 4, Shelby 1 for 4 and an RBI, Lucy 0 for 5 as he's slumping a bit. Owens 2 for 5 with a double, run, walk, k, and CS, Fields 1 for 4 with a run, 2 RBI, a walk, and hit by pitch. Sweeney 1 for 5 with a 2 run single and 3 k's. Vasquez was REALLY good tonight for the Knights (2 IP scoreless, 1 hit), as was Bukvich. No Prinz but he did throw 27 pitches last night in a inning that had 2 hits and 3 k's. Broadway finished with a 5 in every category except 3 walks (yeesh) and got a ND. Wing (1.2 IP scoreless, 1 hit, 1 k) and Day (1 scoreless, 2 k) were great in relief, but Whisler was meh (5.1 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, 2 walk, 3 k). Rodriguez and Torres were great for W-S, and Rasner was good for Kanny.
  19. Grinderstad's hit that made it 3-0 was the sole reason we won IMO....if he makes an out and we turn bases loaded no out into zero additional runs, I bet we curl up and hide the rest of the night. Count with a strange outing, but it ends up good on paper. Thornton is our #1 setup guy right now, I really don't care what hand he throws with, and I give Ozzie credit for getting Jose out and putting the right guy in for a tough spot in the 7th. Logan got the LEFTY out (no Ozzie, LOOGY doesn't mean switch hitter or right, it means lefty), MacDougal still blows. Not a whole lot surprising stuff tonight, although winning back to back games where we gave up 6 and 5 runs is a great sign. A.J. is hitting a lot better, Konerko is starting to hit a lot better, Dye's approach is looking better, Jim is back, even Cintron now that he seems to be refocused look good at the dish, and Terrero was good. Tonight went pretty well.....but our bullpen has 2 trusty arms (one the closer, the 2nd a lefty) and a STRICT LOOGY only right now. Somebody needs to step up, and I wonder if something is coming with the bullpen considering we dumped vote for Pedro. This bullpen sucks right now, and we're toast if they don't wake up, even if we hit better.
  20. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 21, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) I can't imagine his back ever getting better considering the number of swings he takes at pitches in BP and in games as well as the bending over for grounders each and every day. Like the Royals' mike Sweeney, he'll probably be injured off an on every year. That's a good name drop actually. Sweeney has DH'd for a while now (and played 1st if he isn't) and his back is still awful. Crede isn't nearly the hitter Mike is, but we can't have somebody as injury prone as Sweeney (aka if your right about Crede, and I think you are, I think we have to make our move like we should have done last winter).
  21. 2nd time he's done this this year.....just when I think he's irreversably horrible, he comes up with some gigantic hits the last 2 days. He needs to decide if he sucks or is good, i'm confused.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 20, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) Scouts don't like him because he doesn't light up the right numbers on their radar gun. Hawk would tell you scouts know a lot more than that damn guru Billy Beane or any stat, so I take back what I said. The kid sucks.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Unfortunately, I have been thinking more and more that Romney v Edwards is precisely what we'll see in November of 2008. Its too bad really. That's the worst case senario, thus it's definitely going to happen. I hate politics in this country, whoever sells out the most wins.
  24. Why did it take them until about the 8th guy in line to call up this Clippard kid (they being the Yanks)? He was the most impressive guy they have called up other than Hughes, he's quite young still and had a pretty good fastball and change and REALLY good breaking ball. And he did it in a tough spot against a tough lineup in a pressure game.
  25. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 20, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) I know a guy who had "simple" back surgery. He now uses a cane, can barely walk and is 27 years old with 2 little kids. Sucks. The back is nothing to mess with knife wise. Joe's career may be over cause if I was him I would not have back surgery. Yeah these stories aren't surprising me, I figured they were the type Joe was hearing this offseason when he said no to surgery.
