Game Thread: White Sox (61-46) @ Detroit (53-54) 12:05 CDT
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) f*** it. I'll say what we're all thinking. Santos should be the closer the rest of the way. Absolutely. It's not like the rookie closer thing hasn't worked before for us either.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) This game is very similar to the Twins game today. Except we didn't cheat to take back the lead. No, but I think a home run and a triple from Mark Kotsay in back to back at bats to save the team from losing is about as unlikely an event as a popup bouncing around like it's in a pinball machine.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Who wants to bet Rongey shows up tonight to tell us about how Kotsay single-handedly won this game, but hasn't single-handedly lost any for us? I'll be ready to pounce if he does.

Alright Kotsay, you've earned some time off from my rage. Because this would be an absolutely disasterous game to lose, and he's single handedly saved us today.

5.13 ERA, 1.46 WHIP for our awesome closer.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) Why the f*** did he get the closer's job back? Because our manager is an idiot. Hard to make the playoffs with a bad manager and a bad closer.

I love all of the Kotsay texts and stuff I get when he doesn't screw up. Like all of a sudden, his OPS doesn't start with a 6 anymore.

Based on his picture, I think Phil Coke does coke.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) I moved out here with my ex fiancee, who had a job offer here after graduating from business school. When we split up I decided to stay and sample the local cuisine, if you will :-P I'm all for storytelling in regards to sexual encounters, but your smiley faces are making me uncomfortable.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Those Twins are pretty lucky. Down 2 games to none they came back and took the next 2 to split the series against the best team in baseball thanks to a ball missing the foul pole by a millimeter and a ball hitting a catwalk. This race is going down to the wire. Fixed.

Who's the odd man out of the rotation next year?
QUOTE (Real @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) I would love to see a six man rotation but unfortunately with the way 25-man rosters are set up, it would give the manager a lack of flexibility on either the bench or in the bullpen. But with the stats indicating our starters having a full run better ERA with extra days rest, it would be a really REALLY strong rotation You'll see a six man rotation in the AL sometime in the very near future IMO. Really hard to do that in the NL with the pitcher batting, but I think the day of it in the AL is closer than some realize.

Konerko caught stealing? God I hate giving away outs.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) lol, the Twins take the lead on an infield pop up that hit a catwalk with 2 outs. Ron Gardenhire has a lifetime contract with Satan (at least in the regular season). I'm convinced of it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) Jesus Alex, you suck lately. I was about to say, if he doesn't pick it up by the end of the weekend, I'm going to start getting a bit concerned.

Gardy kind of got pantsed in that game. He took Crain out after only one batter so that Mahay could face Joyce, but Maddon pulled Bartlett off the bench instead and he tied it with a grand slam.

There is no relationship blueprint. If there was, this thread wouldn't be needed.

Well, things have certainly taken a turn for the best in the last 5 to 10 minutes.

Who's the odd man out of the rotation next year?
Yeah, I think the issue here is even if you send him to the AFL to get starting experience, you're going to have to put an innings cap on him in 2011, and that can be a pain in the ass to deal with during a pennant race.

How about an inning with an extra base hit and no caught stealings?

Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) Really, how man seasons in the past few decades have they actually gone all "Detroit Lions" and legitimately sucked? Not many. But the Bears pretty well have mediocrity down pat these days, yet all that I hear out of camp is how this year will be different. Probably not, unless Brett Favre retires and 2nd place in the NFC North potentially opens up.
