QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Man!!! Why cant the NFL be like all other professional sports where every team is elite!!! Damn!!!!! Like I said last week, the NFL at all times has 6 teams worth watching and 26 piles of doo doo. -
Well if Juan had just shot like he threw last year, he probably would have casually shot at the guy after waiting 2 seconds too long, and the shots then would have went 10 feet over his head.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) They usually do better in December... Looks like the current NFL six pack is pretty clear IMO.... 1. Bears 2. Chargers (yes, even with a loss) 3. Colts 4. Panthers (yes, even with 2 losses) 5. Seahawks 6. Saints After that, you have a decent sized cluster of mediocre teams at best with decent to good records. -
QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) The 05 team had 0 five star recruits. I believe in Coach Weber's ability to win games. Recruiting doesn't win games. Dee Brown was a 5 star recruit, and Deron Williams was a high 4 star. However your point is fair, because Luther Head, Roger Powell, James Augustine, and Jack Ingram were all 3 star recruits out of HS.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) I love how they call the Sox average.... We are average. The average division has 5 teams, so an average team would finish right in the middle of that division, or in 3rd, which we did.

A.J. Stewart says it's pretty much a lock he's going to Kentucky over Illinois, per Rivals. The Bruce magic continues.

Will people finally stop staying the Redskins are good? What a joke, and how bout them Bengals? The Miami Hurricanes of the NFL forgot how to score suddenly. -
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) Like I said all top recruits should verbal to Illinois, its a great way to get to a better program. Illinois is a better basketball program than Indiana. In 5 years I doubt that's the case, but right now it is.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) I'm starting to think the best World Series match up would be Detroit vs. St. Louis. Mets have Glavine and that is it. For the Cards, Weaver is pitching well, Suppan can be solid, and while Carpenter struggled last night, he can easily turn it on. Detroit's staff could shut down or contain the Mets line up and rake on their starters, IMO. There is no chance the World Series lasts longer than 5 games either way. For the 3rd straight year, the NL is a joke that will be shown the door quickly in the World Series.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) How so? Gordon was telling him he was still coming to Illinois. Gordon was telling McCamey he was still coming to Illinois. Was he supposed to just magically know the kid was lying? I don't know who to believe anymore now. I just know Gordon is going to IU and somebody screwed up to allow that to happen.

QUOTE(zenryan @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) I am not going to defend the Miami players for fighting. They should have never been running onto the field like that to start with, they know better than that.. but... I just love how its Miami's fault. There are two teams on that field, and if anyone saw any of the game then they would know that FIU was instigating the whole thing from the opening kick off. Just about every play there was a FIU player trying to start something. From piling up after plays, to pushing and shoving, getting slapped in the back of the head and elbows being thrown on a safety after he makes an INT and gets tackled. I also find it funny that no one on tv is talking about the FIU player swinging his crutches around at Miami players, just Reddick using his helmet as a weapon. and one of the commentators was Lamar Thomas. he played in the thug years and he is part of Miami that Butch Davis and Coker are trying to get away from. FIU started the damn thing to be honest, but Miami needs to have cooler heads, ESPECIALLY since they are trying to get away from the thug image. I personally think that Butch did a great job with cleaning up, but the thugs have taken over the program again, which is why Coker is going to get dumped for Greg Schiano very soon. But then again, Miami for the most part hasn't had too much trouble off the field lately, but a fight like that, regardless of who started it, shows the team has some bad dudes. -

whitesoxfan101 replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
I'm as annoyed by the politically correct turn our society has took as the next guy, but you can't say THAT in front of the world in October. Psycho deserved what he got. -
They should wear some sort of patch in 2008, celebrating the 100th anniversary. It could say "100 years of crap" with a giant turd as the logo or something.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) To clear something up, Gordon has been silently committed to IU for weeks now, although made no mention of this to anyone in the Illinois program. I've learned in some even greater detail about the story, and I can't help but think Gordon Sr is a slime ball as is Sampson for how he handled the situation. I've also learned the exact details behind KU's probation from a KU booster. Pretty funny story if anyone wants to hear it. I believe it regarding Gordon. I don't think the kid is a slimeball, but his dad sure as hell is. But if Gordon has indeed been a silent verbal for weeks, that is an even louder indictment of Bruce. As for KU, I know little about that situation, but based on what I do know.... yeah if they weren't KU, they'd probably get the SMU football treatment.

QUOTE(bunkerf16 @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) You guys crack me up..........our team is extremely young at the core.....we have players in the minors who are ready to come in and pick up the slack........we will be active in FA and with a team like ours, and with the manager we have, we'll attract our share of talent....... It's sad you can't just congratulate your opponent without trying to tear them down....sounds a lot like sour grapes to me........guess that's to be expected though..... So it's sour grapes to state the obvious, which is your going to regress next year? I'm not hating to say it, it's a fact. It'd be sour grapes for me to hate on your team this year, which I won't. The Tigers performance this year has been admirable, and your going to win the World Series. I'm just stating my opinion, which is we're going to be better than you NEXT year, but that doesn't take away the amazing season you've had this year.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) So in the blink of an eye, Weber did something on Thursday night to make Gordon suddenly and surprisingly pick IU. Um, no...regardless of what you are trying to 'honestly' tell us. BTW, i think it's fine to get on Weber for missing out on recruits...i just don't think people should use this as the main subject matter. I don't think it's as 'inexcusable' you think, considering all the circumstances, but that's just me. This isn't the main subject as to why Weber can't recruit, it's just the boiling point. And Weber didn't lose Gordon, Sampson won him away....my problem is Gordon should have been put away months ago, but the Illini took his verbal for granted, which opened the door for the Hoosiers.

Greg Schiano has A LOT of work to do with that Miami program once he gets the job this offseason, on and off the field. -

That was a hell of a brawl in that FIU/Miami game. But then again, those 2 teams are full of 305 thugs, so it's certainly not a surprise to see. And for the record, that's not racist, it's proven fact. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) Don't tell me you actually subscribe to this logic Huge brawl in the Miami game...go figure No I don't, but it's fun to talk about anyways. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) Hi Mr. Gordon, welcome to soxtalk Ha I wish. I actually can honestly tell you this was a done deal until Thursday night, but I'll stop since you understandable think I'm full of ish. Ah well, that's not the point, the point is losing Gordon in inexcuseable by Weber, but we've covered that. /beating dead horse, and done with subject.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) They'll regress, just like we did this year. They'll regress a lot worse though. The only reason we still won 90 games is we got so much better this offseason (yay Kenny). Dombrowski is a fine GM, but I doubt he'll be able to do as much this offseason as Kenny did last offseason, and even in season getting MacDougal, Riske, etc.

Article about Mariotti from Chicago mag
whitesoxfan101 replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Marriotti is a complete fool and brilliant at the same time, which is amazing. He has the dumbest opinions I've ever seen, he contradicts himself at all times, he's almost always wrong, and he has the talent of a giant rock in his columns. But he's brilliant because he knows you can make a lot of money by being a loud mouthed idiot who contradicts himself and makes himself the story, and he's done a great job of that. He's the Ann Coulter of sports, and because they mix brilliance and idiocy so well, neither will go away. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) Appearantly you havn't seen SportsCenter recently the nice men on the broadcast correctly pointed out that Alex Rodriguez is a bad player, teammate and person in general. I heard that he's never actually gotten a hit in the postseason unlike Jeter who is the Michael Jordan of baseball. On baseball tonight they had an investigative report about how Alex Rodriguez in his first year with the Yankees would actually give poisoned milk to school children, true story. People forget the real reason that the Yankees lost the 2001 World Series was that Derek Jeter hit .171 and only had 1 RBI, which was the walk off at New York (his only career walk off homer, btw).

Any realistic way to upgrade the starting pitching?
whitesoxfan101 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If we trade Buehrle and Crede to New York for A Rod and move B Mac into the rotation, that would be a huge upgrade. Besides that.....we just have to hope the pen is better. Zito and that Japanese pitcher are going to cost way too much, and to be honest I don't think for us, they are worth it. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) How about Mike Mussina? Won't need a 5-year deal, great DIPS pitcher. He'd be my choice. Not a bad idea, but his option is going to get picked up.
