Comcast is always VERY pro Cubs AND Sox because of the sweet little T.V. deal. But hey, that's how it goes these days in sports media...

Game Thread: 6/16/06, Sox @ Reds
whitesoxfan101 replied to RME JICO's topic in 2006 Season in Review
It's going to be hot all weekend, so the ball will be flying. Key is for our starters to keep the Reds in the yard, they are EXTREMELY home run reliant, so if we can avoid throwing the long ball I like our chances, as we should be able to get the offense going (although, lefties the next 2 days and then Harang start for the Reds, so ugh). -
Damn, by all indications, there are going to be a lot of Sox fans there it seems.....great news. I'll be there sitting on the Club Level Saturday, if you see somebody around the park in his 2002 Konerko ASG jersey, sandals, and WS Champs hat.....beat the s*** outta him cuz that's me.

That's horrible. A good, hard working man (which there aren't enough of in this world) beaten to death over something so meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I'll keep his family in prayer, RIP.

QUOTE(Cali @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 09:04 AM) Okay haven't watched any of these games since I don't watch basketball, but I do see the SportsCenter coverage after the games in the empty arenas. One thing has been bugging me, what is that white s*** on all the seats in Miami. It's too sporatic to be what the seat designs are. It's something trivial but it bothers me to not know what's going on. Can someone help a brotha out here? I have a good friend that lives down there, so I'll help. The Heat are doing a "White Out" promotion for these playoffs, where everybody wears white to the games, everybody has like white pom poms, the cheerleaders have white outfits, the uniforms are white obviously, and even the seats are covered with a white covering. It looks great on T.V. and the Heat are 10-1 at home these playoffs, so the home court advantage is helping. As for the seats....I went to a game down there last season, and the seats are a mix of shades or orange and red (heat, fire, obviously the idea), so that's most of the seats you see, but there are still a few sporadic white seats since I assume most (but not all) fans take the seat covers home as souveneirs after the games end. -

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) I do not know what to think after last night. I am just starting to be un-bummed. Brian thinks they were pushing too hard and that the clinching game is the toughest. I know Stillman is going to come out with guns blazing in Edmonton, but I do not know about the rest of the team. I really hope tahe Edmonton has blown their load, so to speak. I also hope Doug is okay. I am getting sick of the cheap shots by the Oilers - it's one thing to be hard hitting, but they have been bringing it to a whole 'nother level. If there is a game 7, I really think the Oilers will win the whole ball of wax. Your still fine. Even if it goes 7, the one thing that is true in all sports is the hardest thing to do is win a game 7 on the road. And plus, your just a better team than the Oilers. I think you'll win game 6 though, good luck!! -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 03:26 AM) Pitching match-ups: Friday: Robertson vs Rusch Saturday: Verlander vs Marmol Sunday: Rogers vs Marshall Any questions? The Tigers don't hit lefties all that well, and Marmol has REALLY good stuff. The Cubs will manage to at least be able to avoid being swept IMO, but I'd guess the Tigers take 2 of 3. -
Today's fun fact of the day: It's mid June, and the 15 million dollar payroll Marlins have a better record than the 95 million dollar payroll Cubs. With that said, go Cubs the next 3 days, but lol at that fact.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) *Fixed* Well I mean he's only bad in left or at 3rd or wherever we put him....I just wish he could be good enough to only be bad in center.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) The Heat will probably win the next game and the Mavs will finish them off with 2 at their home court. I hope I'm wrong cause I want to see Dallas steal one in Miami, (esp. since I have a bet already with Mavs in 6.. ) but sadly.. I believe this is how it's gonna happen. If Dallas heads home with 3 straight losses on their heads, I'm not betting on them to just suddenly play well again and win 2 straight at home. Dallas is clearly the better team here, but that might not matter. -
It's almost getting ridiculous, Pablo just gets a hit every time he swings that magic wand of his, and it's usually f***ing ugly to look at. If only he could play center.....*sighs*.

Including the playoffs, we are now 9-1 in our last 10 at Anaheim and Texas. Hot damn, I never thought I'd see the day. Great way to get revenge tonight, getting 3 of 4 in Texas is a great job and now on to Cincy. -

The Heat DESTROY the Mavs in game 4, and all of a sudden the Mavs face the grim prospect of 2 straight must win elimination games (although at home, but still), if they can't get their s*** together and win game 5 in a very hostile enviornment. Amazingly, Miami has won 2 in a row and taken all the momentum, the end of game 3 could have been a history changing moment. -
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) No, that's what I would do if I was as dumb as you appear to be in your posts today. And what point does that post have other than ignoring my accurate comments and trying to look clever? None of course.
-
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) #10 in the White Sox organization (which is usually ranked in the middle fo the pack)= #250 or so in the country = Nothing When you rank below Jerry Owens in 2006, you have issues. So we should treat players in accordance with their organizational standing? You are aware that goes against all this organization stands for with it's "no superstar, treat everybody with the same disclipline and respect" attitude right? No you aren't, so please get a clue and get a new argument if you want to defend the organzation here.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) You sir are editorializing when he asked for news!! Nope. The facts are that our catcher was thrown at twice, we retaliated, but for some reason we tried to do it with a pitcher that has no control, so he missed target twice before getting a groundout. What is also fact and not debateable is that Ozzie made an ass of himself by chewing out a player for failing to be a goon in plain view of T.V. cameras, and that Hawk made an ass of himself by talking big about how he would meet Padilla after the game or some s*** if he played. Yeah Hawk, and Padilla would have kicked your ass, just like a lot of people annoyed by your homerism would like to do often times. (note: bolded part=editorializing)

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) When England wins Group B, they will play either Germany or Ecuador, be eliminated, and prove once again why they are the New York Mets of world soccer. Fixed . Look, England is a fine country with fine people, but your soccer team is little more than big names beating on bad teams at the moment. The best team, not the best collection of names, wins this tournament. -
Ozzie and our broadcaster made complete asses of themselves, and the fanbase for the most part ignored it and jumped to their defense.

Good to see the A's REALLY laying down the law, with Loaiza on the mound today.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Its funny how you just say and a prospect like its nothing when that prospect was the biggest part of the deal. Still good trade but probably should be said turned a top prospect into a top of a rotation starter. We will see about Chris Young.....Jeremy Reed was a can't miss prospect not too long ago.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) You are getting on my nerves. Having an opinion about how something was handled does not = being a know it all. No, but when your being ripped to shreds for no reason other than disagreeing with the teams manager over a controversial incident, and then constantly saying the same s*** over and over makes you a know it all and a prick.

Gotta love Kenny yet again: Turns a AAA journeyman reliever into Alex Cintron Picks up Esteban Loaiza off the scrap heap, gets a 21 win season out of him, later turns it into Jose Contreras Turns a bust first round pick from the previous regime into a 98 MPH throwing solid LOOGY Signs Jermaine Dye for WAY below market value for a player of his calibur Picks up Bobby Jenks off waivers for 30 grand Signs Dustin Hermanson last year and gets that sick season out of him Turns El Duque, a mop up bullpen arm, and a prospect into Vazquez Turns Miguel Olivo, Jeremy Reed, and Mike Morse into Freddy Garcia Picks up Javier Lopez off the scrap heap for nothing, turns him into a solid RP in Riske Between that, the stuff I'm sure I forgot, and that whole World Series thing.....Kenny needs to sign a freaking lifetime deal as GM.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) There's a lot of people who are completely turned off by Guillen's constant childish behavior, of course no one would dare say such a thing out of fear of being lynched. Haha getting lynched by a bunch of message boarders who think they know it all is a good time though. Your right about Ozzie though, there are more people that dislike him than fans realize. I personally deal with his antics, but if we stop winning that will change. And I still don't like how he handeled Tracey last night or how he handles young players in general.
