QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) fair enough, whenever I got to a game, I leave AT LEAST 2.5 hours before first pitch, usually get their around or before the gates open. It's a win-win situation, beat the traffic and get to spend more time at the park I do the same thing actually, but that advice is from a game earlier this year when I couldn't leave very early and saw the Ryan's bad side.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Wow, I never guessed that a "righty" would bring racism into 50% of his posts. My political affiliation doesn't change obvious facts and things that exist. -
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Why do you hate America so much... Ugh... liberalism is such a disease. I'm not a liberal, but rather have a case of critical-thinking conservatism (republicans against Bush). When you see the democrats taking seat after seat in upcoming elections and such because of the ineptitude of this administration, you'll know what I mean.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) But I thought that you libs were the champions of free speech? :rolly ^^^ I'm a moderate righty who currently despises both parties and almost everybody in politics regardless of party, but thanks for playing. -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) That's the base. (Though, I don't know how long Nathan will be there.) But you also have Mauer at catcher. And I can't believe Morneau isn't better than this. Yes, there are holes. But if your rotation sports 2 CY candidates, I think you can't be too far off. Liriano's not that yet, but still, omfg. Mauer is a hell of a hitter, but he still hasn't shown much of any power....and I want to see him stay healthy. And Morneau needs to hit more than .240 as well.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) Stop pulling this s***, there is no high bidder with Collins, Weber just cant recruit worth s***. Well I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that Collins was paid to go to Kansas (and Longstreet got a lovely prize as well). Was it Self? I don't know, might have been boosters, but he saw a lot of green when he got to Lawrence. And Eric Gordon disagrees with your Weber comment. -
I know a lot of high character people who aren't christian, and I know a lot of "christians" who are assholes. This is the dumbest s*** I've ever heard. Promoting good character like this I don't mind, however doing it through one specific religion is so dumb I can't even begin to explain it.

The gambler shall bust tonight, sweepage is in order. Garland has show signs of adequacy recently, hopefully he keeps it up tonight.

Minnesota has 2 terrifying starters in Liriano and Santana, and a stud closer in Nathan.....but other than that, I don't see a damn thing about them that scares me. 2 stud horses and a closer can win you some games, but that's not enough in this division.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) I think you might be onto something there... Strange timing with this announcement and Grimsleys arrest and subsequent revealations. They did play together on the 1999 and 2000 New York Yankees......so it's possible.
-
Cleveland doesn't have the pitching to get hot enough to catch us, but Detroit has the pitching to stay in the race. Detroit scares me way more, the Indians this year are like we were circa 2003 and 2004....they may get hot at the plate or something, but they are an 80 to 85 win team.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 06:55 AM) Ozzie thinks the same way as Nelson on this topic. Should he move along as well? No, but he can kiss my ass and I'm currently very pissed at Ozzie for being an ignorant fool on this subject.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) Miguel Cabrera is already getting bigger and the second he gets his fatass into the weight room he will be hitting 40 HRs per season. He's getting bigger because of food and I don't know if he has the work ethic to get into the weight room....he's known to be a bit lazy. But the thing is with him is he could roll out of bed and have a .320/35/110 split, so if he ever does get a work ethic (or Jason Grimsley's number /obligatory), 45 or fitty large could be possible, especially once he gets out of Florida.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) I just plain never liked his mustache. Go handlebar or go home. Indeed, the cheese mustache just has never got it done for Jeff.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) I've been on his bandwagon since he was a top prospect in the Marlins org. Early on in '03. The guy is an absolute stud, he's well on his way to Albert Pujols like status especially with the new and improved OBP that he's featuring this year. We don't have enough but just for fun I'd probably offer up our entire minor league system for him. He doesn't have that kind of power, even if you were to get him out of Florida...... The guy he reminds me sooooo much of is a young Man Ram, right down to the occasional chubby build, lack of hustle, and bizarre streaks of horrid defense mixed with a few great plays. But man can they hit.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) Craig Brackins....any good? 4 star picked Iowa State over Illinois and Indiana, and Clemson and Washington. TAKE THAT, Illiana. Loads of talent and size....but those Boyz 2 Men kids make me very nervous....
-
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) God Cabrera would look good in black and white. I've been on his bandwagon since last spring, and the thing just keeps picking up steam. They are going to want a king's ransom....and I'm not sure we have the firepower to get it done.

Hooray, an option that fits and is realistic on all levels. Hopefully Kenny gets it done, I'd love to see this play out. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) He sounds no better than Mack to me. .282 right now, one homer (no power), 11 rbis (sucks for 181 at bats) and one steal. What value is he? Play Anderson over this guy. He's 10 times faster than Mack, he's 10 times better in CF than Mack (speed, jumps, and arm), he has a solid average (.282), very good OBP (.384), and that 102 point split between the 2 is a level where he's still getting on base quite a bit even if the average dips a bit. He also has more walks (25) than k's (23) and can play the corners on occasion if needed for some reason. This is also a realistic option that would be plausible and could happen. Plus, remember the last CF we got in a trade from the Brew Crew?

So we have the #1 and #2 guys in OPS this year among guys not on the DL?? Pretty good.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Not sure, but that cutter he throws doesnt have much cut to it, it just runs in on hitters. You CANNOT see a high 90's cutter in on the hands and then a mid-80's curveball at the knees on the outside corner. It's just not fair. Thats all I can say. It's not fair. Agreed that his stuff is not fair. And yeah, the pitch isn't a true cutter in the sense of the word. In fact, it's really just some nasty ass pitch I've never seen before, but since it's in the mid to high 90's and has late movement towards the hitter, the cutter is the best I can come up with.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) On CSN, they said he tops out at 94 so someone was longtossing over the summer. 94? Damn he's been working out or maybe knows Jason Grimsley.
-
The Ryan....it depends when your going down there. If your going early (like 2 hours early, 1 and a half hours), then you'll be ok. However if your going any later than that, stay the hell away because it turns into a disaster area as gametime approaches.
-
He has 3 pitches that are obvious, the straight fastball in the upper 90's to around 100, a 94 to 97 cut fastball that has late movement, not like Rivera but still nasty, and that hammer at 85 that just drops out of sight. He also throws at least 2, maybe 3 other pitches sometimes...but that s*** is so nasty that I couldn't tell you what it is.
