The Eastern Seaboard Programming Network postgame has YET to even COME CLOSE to mentioning the horrid refs, which is obviously part of the story in this game. The dick sucking ESPN does to all the sports is pretty sick, they just try not to even mention controversial things ever. -

I'm not saying the game was fixed, or that any were....but if any sport were going to fix the games, it would be the NFL. The ONLY reason that sport is so much more popular than the others is gambling, and for them to cater to Vegas would not surprise me in the least. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Sort of like the Houston fans complaining about the roof? Exactly. As as for the link, go to www.scout.com, click on the NFL portion, and then click on Seahawks. -

Want a laugh? Go read the Seahawks scout board....they are calling Holmgren a hero for not shaking Cowher's hand, saying they hope the refs die in a plane crash on the way home, and saying the NFL rigged the game WWE style so the popular east coast team would win. It's a hilarious and over the top meltdown. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) So...QVC wasn't running White Sox merch immediately after the World Series ended as far as I saw, but they're running Steelers merch now. We're always disrespected!!! Shouldn't this be in green? -

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Quick question for the board... why is it that NFL coaches NEVER kick the field goal in a situation like today's game?! I know that it isn't a sure bet that the field goal will be made, but you need 2 possessions, and you can't get a second possession when there is no time left on the clock! This happens so often, I cannot comprhend why football coaches do this. Ending rant now. Also of note, I thought maybe Randle-El would get the MVP. Ward definitely deserved it IMO. As for why they never kick field goals in that spot....I think it's the same reason that basketball coaches don't foul when they are up 3 with only a couple seconds left. Old habits die hard, and they are afraid of the endless criticism they will get if the percentage play strategy backfires because it's so rarely used. -

This Super Bowl was the sloppiest I've ever seen. Bad turnovers, bad penalties, drops.....pretty lame. I'd be pissed if I were a Seattle fan, at both my team for blowing chances, and at the refs for screwing me over to pile on. And Holmgren is SUCH a douche, not even shaking Cowher's hand. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Man, after watching that game, I can't help but think that the Refs just absolutely handed that trophy to the Steelers on a silver platter. Seattle did a lot of things themselves to hand that game to the Steelers. The game might have went different with a fairly called game by the refs, but Seattle screwed up so many times that they got what they deserved. -

I think Bill Cowher's chin is the only human body part ever that could withstand a roundhouse kick from Chuck Norris. -

Fitting end to this one. Stevens drops a pass, terrible clock management, self destruction by Seattle in Pittsburgh territory. Congrats to the Steelers, but boy they got a lot of help today from both Seattle and the refs. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) Big Ben's already got his ring in just his 2nd year. This kid is special, even though he didn't play great tonight. He's a very nice QB, but he's gotten a lot of help from that O line, defense, running game, and set of WR's and TE's around him. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) Congrats Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, helluva run Yep. To beat the #3, #1, and #2 seeds in the mighty AFC in back to back to back weeks, all on the road, then after a week off travel to Detroit to beat the #1 seed in the NFC. Amazing accomplishment, something we may never seen again. -

He got a REALLY bad spot on that one, but still picked up the 1st down. Great play call (if that wasn't a broken play) everybody sold out to Bettis, and Big Ben picked it up. -

This Pittsburgh team is kind of like the White Sox. The 2005 World Champs, they bring in a giant fat ass at the end of games to close it out (Bettis, Jenks) and even when he f***s it up as they are about to win a playoff game (Game 2 WS, Colts game) they still win. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) I get where you are coming from, but the point of the game is to do what you need to do to win. The Steelers use gadget plays to throw in a twist every now and then, and I personally don't really see anything wrong with them. Then again, if the Bears lost because of gadget plays, I'd be pissed as hell. Nah me and Willie aren't saying we blame the Steelers or that there is anything wrong with them running that play, you do have to do whatever it takes. But from a purely fans point of view, it feels cheap when a WR throwing a TD pass is what decides the game, that's all. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) Why do those plays piss me off so much? They are great to watch, but it feels so cheap when a game is decided on one because it's not so much execution as it is the element of surprise. And in other news, this call is going to be overturned. If the refs dont' overturn this, I'm calling conspiracy, even though Seattle is going to get what they deserve if they lose. -

It is fitting that this game would be decided on a gimmick play. I don't know what Seattle was doing, it's not like the Steelers hadn't run a play like that yet this season. I'd be hitting my head against the wall if I were a Seattle fan, what a blown chance this game was. -

The officiating in this game has been bad, and usually I'd say conspiracy for the east team/Seattle should be pissed.....but the Seahawks would be winning by 2 TD's if they could quit screwing the pooch, even with the bad calls. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Please don't fall apart Seattle It would be consistent for them to do so the last 10 minutes, since they've been self destructing in key spots over and over again for the first 50. -

HORRIBLE pass by Hasselbeck, INT Steelers. Add 15 yards for a penalty on Hasselbeck, rough play for him. There it is again, Seahawks pissing all over themselves.
