  1. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Allright another KU fan, i love the pic of JUJU in your avatar. Don't mind the other posters, they are KU haters, mostly due to Self fleeing their school. I would be the same way, and am with roy boy. I am more excited about the OU game then I am the super bowl. A win and we are a ranked team baby. I have nothing against KU or Self, Illinois got a much better coach out of that whole thing. My issue is KU has only beaten 1 team this season that can be considered to be anything resembling good (at Colorado) and that they beat crap outside the Big 12, and are beating more crap in it. They have talent, but they are going to get a seed where they have a tough 1st round game, and then will be playing a top 2 or 3 seed in the 2nd round if they can survive that. Not a good formula for a serious push in March.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) If they can figure out Kansas State and Missouri by then. And not have 3 or 4 more guys transfer, and not lose Rush to the league.
  3. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK. Scared, be very scared of this maturing team come March. I agree.....March of 2007.
  4. No I saw the interview, it was obvious McNabb knew what he was saying. He was basically saying that it was black on black crime because "Owens didn't say they'd be undefeated with Leftwich at QB, or Culpepper, or Aaron Brooks...but instead picked somebody of another ethnic backgroud". It was VERY ignorant and I was very surprised to hear McNabb say something that stupid.
  5. Black on black crime? Why did he have to bring race into this.....there are times to pull that card, but this isn't one of them. It's about an idiot ruining a team and throwing Donovan under the bus, not race.
  6. It's pretty easy to realize why Duke players so often suck in the NBA when you see the kind of calls that team gets. I'm sure it's a culture shock for rookies out of Duke when they are called for holds, hacks, and push offs in the league. NIU did win tonight though, which was cool. Huge game Saturday afternoon for the MAC West lead, go out to eat afterwards, come home and watch Illinois and Penn State. Can't wait for Saturday.
  7. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Interesting, more fallout from Marcus Vick. This from LaSean McCoy the #5 RB in the nation, who committed to Miami, but was leaning to VT beforehand. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/495991.html Virginia Tech was also considered for a long time to be a favorite and the most likely destiny for the top player in Pennsylvania. “I did like Virginia Tech, but the whole Marcus Vick thing turned me off of them,” he said. I wouldn't want a player who is turned off by a school taking a stand against a classless thug anyways.
  8. I really wish John Dergo from Morris would change his mind and play football at Illinois along with wrestle.....dude is unreal (and also an EA All American).
  9. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Yeah well being that I am from Illinois, its just frustrating that of all the teams in the Big 10, Illinois is the one who has had Wisconsin's number the last few years. But I guess on the other hand atleast they have been losing to arguably the best team in the conference the last few years. Illinois has won at least a share of the league 4 years out of 5 (only NOT 5 in a row because of a 1 point loss at your guys house on the last day of the 2003 season), and has a chance to make it 5 of 6 this year. We also won the league tournament in 2003 and 2005. We have simply had most everybody's number lately, so don't feel bad. I wish you luck, mainly because Wisky and Sparty are the only 2 Big Ten teams besides Illinois of course that I don't hate.
  10. NIU announced their class now. Of the 17 guys, 15 have been verbals for a few months now, so not much recent action. It's also a small class since NIU was SO young last year. NIU did lose Bryant to Morgan Park and Diondre Jenkins to Wisconsin (ugh) but snagged all starter Alex Kube from Ball State and brought in Billy Lowe, who was QB for the 14-0 undefeated national championship team in Lakeland, Florida last year. As usual, NIU will keep having the best talent in the MAC, hopefully they stop coming up with new ways to blow winning the league title. The name to watch from this list is Ricky Crider of IN, he's a Garrett Wolfe clone. http://www3.niu.edu/athletics/football/agate05/NLI2-1.html
  11. Penn State obviously would have loved to have Hazelton, but they still have a top 5 to 10 class nationally and #1 in the Big Ten. This class BLOWS AWAY the one last year that did a lot in helping them go 11-1, win the Big Ten, and win the Orange Bowl, which is a scary thought. Penn State loses a ton of vets going into next year, but they are reloading with what might be even more talented players. Not to hate on JoePa, but it's CLEAR he's just a figurehead now letting the assistants run the show, NO WAY IN HELL he could put together a class like this.
  12. Hazelton signed his LOI with USC, according to Rivals.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) Heard that too. Wow. Not surprising, there had been rumors about Juice talking about forever since he commited SO early, and Texas is VERY VERY thin at QB. Juice is a great guy though, he turned down so many great schools to try and bring Illinois back to respectabilty. I'm so lame, I've been sitting here since 3:30 watching the coaches talk about the players on fightingillini.com. Oh, and my sig >>> your avatar.
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Kansas got a top 40 class. They are ranked 38 by Rivals, and 36 by ESPN. Also, they got the first 4 star recruit, probably since Gale Sayers. Actually, Kansas brought in a pair of 4 stars in 2005 and 2003, and 1 in 2002. Fat man Mangino puts together a class ranking 35 to 40 nationally every year, and does a very nice job IMO. Kansas will never be a football powerhouse, but you guys seem to improve every year, and are getting to that point where you can compete at a level where a bowl game is possible every year.
  15. http://fightingillini.collegesports.com/sp...html#Millington Illini class of 2006, includes bio, photo, and video of all incoming players (including Millington). This is easily the best class I've ever seen an Illinois football team bring in, let's hope we utilize it well on the field, and many of them should get a chance to play right away. Also interesting is the fact that Rahkeem Smith and Jeff Cumberland both turned down late offers from USC, and apparently Isiah Williams had major interest and got an offer from Texas after Vince went pro.
  16. I wouldn't worry too much badger, Bo is a great coach and you guys will be fine. It's hard to lose 2 contributors like that, but you guys will figure something out and be in the tournament. Hopefully we see you guys again in Indianapolis, our games are fun.
  17. Apparently my math was wrong, haha. The blog on the official Illini site says they expect 1 more LOI today, and rumor has it that last hold out is Antonio Gully of St. Louis. EDIT: Wrong again haha. The last LOI was from Jeff Cumberland, so now the press release about all the recruits should come out from the University pretty soon. Can't wait to see it!
  18. Vontae just sent his LOI, making it 20 for the day. I assume that's everybody we expected. Based on the LOI numbers plus early enrollees and transfers, we should have gotten 21 LOI's today, but that numbers goes down to 20 since Kevan Hagens from Wisconsin isn't signing today since he isn't qualfied and is headed to prep school. However, if this is it for LOI's, it would mean no Britt . Although, Britt also isn't confirmed to have signed with Rutgers yet either.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) I just listed many schools who have already been forced to get rid of theirs. So should Illinois. Its not like they are asking you to change your mascot and name all together like some of those schools. You say you are in favor of gettting rid of the chief, yet you sound like a whiny fan saying, "well, how come HE gets to have it." This has nothing to do with Illinois, it has to do with the fact that the NCAA gets rid of all the Indian Mascots, yet lets certain schools win appeals. Either keep them all or dump them all is all I'm saying.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Technically, the NCAA banned the mascot from postseason play and have moved against its usage moving forward. It has been appealed by FSU. So really, its FSU's fault for why its not gone yet. But it will be. As soon as the FSU mascot is gone, get rid of Chief Illiwek and I won't say a word. There simply shouldn't be exceptions to the rule....but the rule itself I have no problem with.
  21. I'm not for Chief Illiwek at all, in fact I tend to agree it would be better for it gone. I just think that the FSU mascot is equally racist, even though the Seminole trible "approves of it" because of all the money FSU pays them to keep quiet. This is all about the $, not what is right, but hey that's nothing new with the NCAA.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Well, illiniwek is also considered "racist" And a white guy in an indian suit throwing a spear into the turf isn't racist? They are either both are or both aren't, I just ask for consistency.
  23. Regardless of what you think of the gay lifestyle, the fact that a person can be fired for living it is incredibly wrong and goes against what this country stands for.
  24. They are a bigger concern to us than Iraq ever dreamed of being.
