Seattle needs look no further than the mirror if they lose....they are clearly the better team today, but keep pissing all over themselves. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Is there a reason why blocking in the back wasn't called on that INT return? Roethlisberger got shoved in the back as he was running. I was thinking the same thing, but the refs owe Seattle a few calls anyways. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) This game has been exciting. One of the closest Super Bowl's since it started. Anyone who doesn't like this game is just bitter than their team lost in the playoffs. Get over it. This game is great. I bet if the Bears between Steelers game was 7-3 at half, people would've said, "this is a great game!" Yeah I'm bitter....that this game has been so sloppy. I'd be happy to see the Bears in this game, but I wouldn't call it exciting if it went like this just because the Bears were in it. -

I guess we just saw there why the NFL is so popular. It's mediocrity and painful to watch for the most part, but things even out and we end up with a close game. I still don't like it though. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) go for 2? Too early for that, you'll be trying to get that point back all 2nd half if you miss. -

Touchdown to Stevens!! Wow, he FINALLY catches a pass and we might have caught a good game with that turn of events, 14-10 Steelers. -

The NFL may be as popular as ever, but these games are now just a competition to see who can be less mediocre. Boring ass game so far except 1 play. -

You knew either Stevens or Porter would f*** up today with all the s*** talk going on. Turns out Stevens will be the goat. And in other news, Seattle with yet another f*** up as the FG try fails. -

What a snoozer of a half, I hope it picks up in the 2nd. Also, the commercials have SUCKED ASS the last few years, people are simply trying too hard now IMO. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Brady doing the coin toss reminded me of the Onion headline after the Sox won the Series. "White Sox to face Yankees for 'Real World Series'" It was as if the NFL said "oh noes! Brady isn't going to be in the superbowl?1! somebody give him something to do. STAT!" So true, man do I dislike the NFL. I enjoy football so I watch, but I wouldn't mind seeing this league's labor problems do some damage. MLB >>>> NFL. -

The fact that Brady is there and flipping the coin is SO SO lame. Keep him the hell away from the game, they lost, get over it NFL. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) The thing with Augustine is that he's never developed range on his shot. As a matter of fact, he was a better outside shooter as a freshman than he is now. If Augie makes the NBA, he should send his entire check to Dee and Deron. Augie gets so many easy layups during a game. And speaking of the Illini, am I the only one who doesn't understand the Frazier love? Many Illini fans think he's this great future player, but basically all I see is a WNBA look-a-like who dribbles the ball up the court, and then just passes to a wing player. If he's the Illini starter at point guard during his career, they're going to be a mid-level Big 10 team. Agreed on Augie. As for Frazier, he's VERY good at everything but shooting, hence his stats suck. If he can develop a decent shot, he'll be a very nice bench player. I don't see him ever starting though, unless we don't bring in another class of 2006 player, at which point he might start next year if Rich can't play point. (although I figure next year will be a transition year anyways). -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Exactly, and one thing Julian does an amazing job at is moving the ball. He can't shoot at all (but then again, neither can Randle). I'm not sure how much of a different he would make. Julian is a very good passer, but the Illini need another player that is a double threat at the guard. Chester can pass, but can't shoot. Jamar can REALLY shoot, but isn't there passing yet. At times, Rich can pass, but he's mostly a 3 point shooter/pump fake to get a mid range jumper guy. And in unrelated news, I'm not going to miss James Augustine. He's had a great great career, but I'll always remember him as an underachiever (which just shows how talented he is, since he is STILL going to leave as the Illini's 1st ever 1,000/1,000 player). -

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) s*** year for Julian? He's a freshman playing a new position, and he's shown enough to earn playing time and start for a talented Kansas team. He's never going to be a big scorer, but he does a lot to help his team during a game. If you ask me, he's the missing link on the Illini team this year. He'd easily be the best interior passer they'd have, and would possibly force the offense to not just sit around a fire up three pointers the whole game. The missing link for this years Illini team is ball movement. Nobody on this team can pass other than Dee and Chester (whose passing is offset by the fact he can't shoot). -
Monk will never get in because of the media f***s who will never vote for him because he wasn't so nice to them. It's total bulls***, on the field he's a no doubt HOF, and he's not a drug addicted thug like Michael Irvin. This class is VERY good and VERY deserving however, to get back on topic. Congrats to all 6.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) oh and our wonderful fans did not rush the court, emotion or not. how good is Julian Writght, his no look pass was by far the pass of the year so far. :rolly You didn't hit a shot at the horn that appeared to win the game. And Julian Wright is still having a s*** year, but he's going to develop into a solid ballplayer. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) I'll say this........nothing hurt more than our loss to OSU last year. Being 4 seconds away from an undefeated season, then having it snatched away and kids rushing the court in front of you.......hurts, a lot. This hurt me 100 times more. That game meant nothing to me, we had to win 6 in a row as the #1 in the midwest to win it all regardless of what happened that day. We had the Big Ten title regardless of what happened that day. We had the #1 seed in the Big Ten Tourney regardless of what happened that day. Tonight's loss ended all hopes of another Big 10 title, was to one of the worst major college basketball teams in the country, ended the home court winning streak. This is EASILY the worst regular season loss the Illini have had since this run of success started with Kruger. Just embarassing, the team should have just stayed in the locker room at halftime. No heart, no effort......I almost wish they wouldn't be allowed to wear uniforms that say "Illinois" on them the next several games, they don't deserve it. -

Well I woke up yesterday morning thinking I'd watch Illinois put themself in great position to win their league with a blowout win, and watch NIU lose a last second game to see their league title hopes die. Wow I had that one right, but the teams reversed. -

I can say with a high level of confidence Duke won't go to the Final 4. They will always get calls, but not like at Cameron, and they simply don't have the athletes to play that pressure defense this year. Good to see Michigan getting smacked down, hopefully this sends them into a tailspin, and with the way road wins are this year, gotta root for Iowa here. Plus, Illinois gets a shot at Iowa in Champaign still. Also, NIU destroyed Western Michigan by 26 today, taking a 1 game lead in the loss column in the MAC West. The crowd was actually into it today, and NIU played an awesome game against a team that had won 6 in a row. Very nice to see, hopefully the Illini do their thing tonight.
