QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2326174 So Quinn Snyder stepped down from the Mizz coaching job. Melvin Watkins will take over. Horrible news. Hopefully this situation isn't a total loss and they take Mike Davis when Indiana dumps him. -
QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) KU is recruiting him...bill self is a good salesman. He better have some Brandon Rush like mystery documents if he wants Jefferson.... with that said, I now consider Kansas the favorites.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 09:43 AM) So when do the Eygptian embassies get torched? Haha, awesomeness. Great job by that guy. -
Everybody is laughing now....this won't be so funny in a decade when Oprah and Wal-Mart have TAKEN OVER THE WORLD. *hides*

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) the funny thing to me is that there are a few posters who shall remain unnamed who feel the same way. So true....but it takes a special kind of dumb to start a thread like this, and I can only think of 2 posters who would do that. One is the guy who started this thread, and the other is, well, the #1 Kyle Orton fan. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) Too bad Steven Bradbury won't be back to defend his speed skating gold medal. That's gotta be the funniest gold medal of all time. I always look forward to the Moguls (how could you not love a Twisted Daffy) and the Ice Hockey. The Luge and Skeleton offer good value as well. AUSTRALIA SUCKS!!! -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) Go U.S. I absolutely love the Olympics. Easily one of my favorite sporting events. Opening Ceremony today and then the events kick off tomorrow. Can't wait. I am with you. A lot of people like to hate on the olympics, but I always watch. Most people in America are more concerned with their city or states team than their country, which IMO is why soccer and the olympics aren't as popular here, but whatever it's their loss. I hate the tape delay nonsense to be honest, but I'll do my best to watch as much as I can without hearing the spoiler results. -

Can you be banned for simply being an idiot? Because if so, we have a prime candidate in the starter of this thread. -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Shoot...I can't believe any of these lying cheats get elected to be the so-called, "Most Powerful Man in the World." I don't care who it is...Clinton, Bush, whoever, they are all lucky bastards and equally screw up and help this country all at the same time. Every prez does good things and bad things. The key is, which hasn't seemed to catch on, is HOW TO HANDLE IT!!! After all the pissing between both parties is said and done, it's pretty useless. Well said cofc, they are all pieces of s***, and the only difference is who handles their many bad things better.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 03:19 AM) I heard the Roenick was one of the 6 players involved. I think it was Brian Kilmead on FoxNews that mentioned him. Not surprising, and I hope it's true....Roenick is as big a douchebag as any athlete I've ever seen. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Ah cmon now, it's not a big deal. That sign is shown a ton, go to a Wichita State game and you'll see everyone doing it, hell..my im bball team did it all the time last year(we were the shockers). No biggy. It's not a big deal, but it's pretty gross and at the same time, this would get a lot more attention if J.J.'s skin were a bit darker. -
Lions finally hire Martz as OC
whitesoxfan101 replied to Kyyle23's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Marinelli is a defensive guy, so I doube he is going to do much involving the offense. He's there to put in the cover 2, and Martz is there to "work his magic". Just watch them throw 50 times a game even though they have no QB, should be fun. -
Between the Tribune, Dailey, Ryan, the truck drivers.....what a fine state we have in terms of ethics.
-
All I know is based on what happened with Harry in his last days in St. Louis, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he stabbed Milo in the back.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) you think so? Martz did nothing but help Marshall Faulk until Faulks knees started to give. Kevin Jones is already pretty good at catching passes out of the backfield, he will just have to improve his blocking and stay healthy. But I think Kevin Jones would only benefit from this, he is the type of back that martz likes to work with Good point on Faulk, but take a look at what Stephen Jackson does next year in St. Louis and you'll see my point. Martz has simply got tired of the running game, he just wants to pass all day now. -

Kevin Jones has gotta be pissed, his career is officially heading down the toilet. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) Right at this point, that is EXACTLY why it is popular. People love seeing this train wreck thing. I LOVE bad bands and musicians, and I love bad karaoke. It kills me, much in the same way that people love "bad" movies such as the stuff Ed Wood made. AI is my Plan 9 From Outer Space, in all honesty. Point taken, but I just don't see the point in spending an hour of my primetime TV viewing watching something I can see at any karaoke night in the area.
-
I don't know how American Idol is so popular, it's no different than going out to a local establishment for karaoke night, other than Idol has a smart ass British guy.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) The Cubs will sell out again this year. There might be fewer people going by the end of the year, but all of the tickets will long since be sold, so it won't really matter. But I will say this, if the Sox go to the playoffs again, while the Cubs are playing golf, THEN you might see their attendance fall, to go along with an actual groundswell for change at Wrigley. Well said. You might see a lot of "no shows" as the season goes on, but in terms of tickets sold, they've all been gone for a while now. But yes, if the Cubs are bad again and we make another playoff run, 2007 could be interesting.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) I don't have the first one but bought the second one to see what he was about... So I'm not far off in not realizing what all the hype was about from #2? #2 is really not any good at all, so I would agree it's all hype. I did some pre listening to it and didn't even buy it to be honest. His first album was really well done IMO though, he still had that cockiness, but wasn't an arrogant prick. Also, it seemed like he put much more time and effort into the first album, whereas album #2 he figured he could just put anything onto it and people would buy it (and hey, that thought turned out to be accurate).

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:42 AM) Im surprised they would cut off their fans from catching the HR's that leave the park... that was always one of the many trademarks of the park but they obviously dont care.... first were going to cutt off all the rooftop buildings now cutoff the fans... The bleachers are noticeably taller now, regardless of what people say. I get the feeling when it's all said and done, you won't have nearly the open air, neighborhood feel inside Wrigley that you used to, but rather more of a cookie cutter, fishbowl look. Obviously, that doesn't change the fact Wrigley has beer, babes, and bars, but at the same time one of the dynamics inside the park that people loves is changed forever.

I'll take the one that isn't dead in a cage match. And yes, Milo is the man, his calls during the playoffs were just classic and this makes him ever better.
-
I really liked Kanye's first album, but it's unfortunate he's turned into an arrogant prick and stopped worrying about his music quality.

Who cares, we're still all doomed.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) Why are we so harsh on people gambling on events like the super bowl and march madness? An illegal gambling ring with mob ties is just a bit different than a night of fun at the sports book in Vegas.
