  1. I'll reiterate what I said in June of 2004 and I'll say it again now: The Pistons winning it all in 2004, coming within 1 game of it in 2005, and possibly doing it in 2006 never happens if they take Carmelo. The pick itself for the Pistons turned out to be a bust as they aren't getting anything in this deal (great deal by Orlando, Darko still has talent) but at the same time, I still think they don't win it all if they take Carmelo (and mind you, if they had, no Rasheed Wallace).
  2. Ugh, if you suggest the idea of Joe Borchard in CF, you should be banned with no questions asked. As for this situation, it's fine!! As I posted in page 1, Rob and Crash had almost identical offensive numbers last year (and Rob batting lefty) and this is why we signed Macokwiak in the first place, for situations like this. And of course, B Anderson should be ready in Mid to Late April at the worst. My only question with Rob is his arm strength (which I know nothing about). Rob has solid speed, and along with Pods in left and Dye in right our OF will still cover plenty of ground, but we need a good arm in CF since Pods couldn't throw a superball into the ocean while standing in high tide.
  3. 2005: Rowand: .270/.329/.407 32 BB on 578 AB Mackowiak: .272/.337/.389 43 BB in 463 AB Now, the OBP numbers level off a bit with the HBP stats of course with Rowand. Also, Rowand played in 157 games to Rob's 142, but if projected to 157 games, the HR, RBI, and K totals are all very similar. Also, Rob is a solid defender (although obviously Rowand wins out there) but Rob also hits lefty. Now, obviously I'm not expecting Rob to be in CF everyday like Crash was last year, but at the same time my point is Rob in CF is VERY similar offensively to Crash, and can play pretty good defense, so we could certainly live with him out there for a few weeks if Anderson isn't quite ready yet.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) I smellllll litigation against myspace coming. What would they sue for? Blame MySpace for a person the girl met turning out psycho?
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) NO! Go to my creation instead http://booneb****.ytmnd.com or http://boonewalk.ytmnd.com The background music makes the whole thing on those 2. Awesome!
  6. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) jim o'brien wins lawsuit against ohio state The Ohio State program is so by far the dirtiest in the NCAA it's not even close....i'd feel guilty rooting for that if I were a fan of them.
  7. I don't mind having Rob play the outfield for a couple or few weeks if Anderson isn't ready yet healthwise, I mean that's why we got Rob after all, for something like this. But the fact that the name Joe Borchard is mentioned in that article makes me want to shoot myself in the face.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) LMAO. Let's look at two events Bill Clinton accepts a blow job, and we invest hundreds of millions of dollars and a special prosecutor, and hold impeachment proceedings. Vince Fosters name comes up. The Veep shoots a man, and the press should STFU No need to investigate, trust the government on this one. Nothing here, look the other way. Nothing serious. gotta love us Americans. Well said.
  9. Well when you have this many million people meeting through the internet, odds are stories like this will happen. I mean people get murdered by folks they meet in a more conventional manner too. There are psychos all over, regardless of if it's the internet or the club.
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) Looks like it's gonna happen. Anybody think it's a mistake by the Pistons to trade Arroyo? He's their only true back-up pg to Chauncey. Not really, for 2 reasons: 1. Arroyo seems to have forgotten how to play basketball since he arrived in Detroit and had to play off the bench in limited minutes. 2. Detroit hardly uses their bench as it is, and that will only become more obvious as the games get more important (and in fact, that could be their downfall in the end). But in general, great deal for Orlando. They send a nobody like Cato and a protected 1st round pick to Detroit for Darko (who I still think could be really good) and Arroyo (who could rebound in Orlando getting more minutes).
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) I can't say that. Alford did a hell of a job coaching Southwest Missouri State. He obviously has had some down years in the big 10, but he's had some really good teams that were stopped by injuries (when we had Recker in here) and than it took him a while to figure things out. I think he's learned that its better to have character guys (like Horner/Brunner/etc) as opposed to pure talent guys like Pierce that are total pricks. He's done a great job getting the team prepared and I don't think there is a team in the conference that runs better plays out of timeouts and I've been watching a ton of big 10 ball this year. Plus, there is no way you aren't doing a good coaching job when your taking a team that was picked by no one (but myself) to be in the upper echelon of the big 10 (obviously there is still time left so anything can happen). Oh and did I mention he's done a very good job making sure these guys play consistently on defense. I also think Alford has learned the importance of getting your younger guys some experience so when the seniors leave they may not be quite as raw as originally expected (that said I still expect a down year next year). Although Henderson/Freeman/Thompson/Haluska isn't too shabby, they'd really have to all step up for it to turn into something better. Right now...Alford would get my vote for Big 10 coach of the year. Agree with every word, and Alford is no doubt Big 10 COY right now. But overall, I still don't think he's a very good coach and I hope Iowa keeps him around.
  12. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Haha, the Bulls are trying to get everyone's hopes up just to crush them in the end. Yes, the Bulls have been doing it Iowa State style in most of their losses this year. Pretty sad.
  13. Great trade by the Clips. Vlad is a very nice player, and Wilcox had no shot to get PT with the Clips.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) We are just as good as you guys, if not more storied when it comes to college sports. Last I look we've also played in NCAA finals games in college basketball. True, but take down the "NCAA Tournament" banners, that's just basically a confession of mediocrity by the program, and you guys are better than that.
  15. As I said the other day, congrats to Ohio State and Iowa on their co championship. I just hope Alford gets a big extension, because he still can't coach, however that group of veterans he has on this years team has really put it together.
  16. Sacramento plays a total s*** game on the road, and still wins in OT. That's so Bulls!! Oh, and I liked that strategy down 4 to let them run it under 20 seconds, then make a jumper to end it. Hey, why foul right?
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) This is one of the main reasons I'd be opposed. The more you move the line back, the less upsets you get come tourny time which is one of the cooler aspects of the game imo. Losing some upsets would suck, but I am willing to give that up for a better game. A longer 3 pointer will make the game more balanced, make the mid range jumper relevant, and make the game less about just shooting 20 footers, and I'm all for that. Plus, there will still be some upsets, since there are a lot of legit good mid major teams.
  18. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) But without the short 3, how could anybody ever get PITTSNOGLE'D? Oh man that's a bad example. That guy fires s*** up from half court and it still goes in, that's how he got his own term in the first place.
  19. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I have a bad feeling about Juan in the two hole. We all complain so much about how he swings at too many pitches and can't make contact, now he's moving to a spot in the order where those problems hurt even more. I hope it works out, but I liked what Iguchi gave us in the 2 hole last year. To be honest, I tend to agree. But I figured i'd try and put a positive spin on it and show the side of why we are thinking about trying this. Juan's .252 BA and .301 OBP last year keeps making me want to cry though.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Yep... Juan Uribe (career stats batting 2nd): 584 AB's | .269 AVG | .321 OBP | .433 SLG | .755 OPS Ha, that BA and OBP are almost the exact numbers I put in the first post of this thread. Go me.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Gooch had 507 at bats Uribes was from 2004 260 at bats, he has around 585 career at bats in the 2 hole. Alrighty. Well I believe a lot of those Uribe numbers were padded during his amazing 2004 start of the season while he hit 2nd, but that's still a very interesting stat.
  22. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) the kournikova process has begun... This girl is 10 times better looking though (IMO), and has actually won something.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Uribe in the #2 spot .285 .331 .515 .846 Gooch in the #2 spot .274 .338 .434 .772 Is that lifetime or just last year? (obviously Gooch was a rookie, but you see my point). How many AB's do each guy have in the 2 spot that lead to those stats? Just curious.
  24. Wow, what a babe (although she could use a belly button piercing). Thanks for the link.
  25. Well said Zoom. My main reasons for wanting it moved back are that a longer 3 point line leaves more room for movement inside the arc to run offense, and that the short 3 point line takes away from the game itself, as teams just pass around the perimeter looking for a 3, rather than trying to just get a good open shot. Plus, the thing that many people like about march madness is that anybody can beat anybody. Well IMO the main reason for that is the current 3 point line is so short, that anybody can get hot and beat anybody on a certain day. Now I know a lot of people like that, but I think it's pretty lame and I'd rather see the best BASKETBALL TEAM win, not the one who gets hot on mid range jumpers worth 3 points.
