RF, and I think Burnitz will win if it's not fixed.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Trade BMac for Roger Clemens. If the Astros' scouts are as high on BMac as the Sox are, they would do it. They're not going anywhere this year, and Clemens is costing them a ton of money they could use to rebuild. Oswalt and BMac would give them two aces in their rotation for years to come (again assuming they see what the Sox see in BMac). Clemens would give the Sox the best rotation around. For those who say we don't need another starter, what happens if Buehrle, Garcia, or Garland go down? If the Sox believe this is THE year, they should try to get Clemens. Although Clemens costs a lot of money, he is one of the few pitchers around that put asses in the seats. With the buzz created by Clemen's acquisition, the Sox would increase attendence by a significant amount, paying for Clemens' salary. I heard Clemens has stated he would not be interested in being traded to anyone other than maybe the Yankees or Rangers. But I believe under the present circumstances, he would consider pitching for the team with the best record in baseball. Of course this is probably just a pipe dream, but the more I think of it, the more this has KW written all over it. Roger Clemens isn't even the best choice on the Astros IMO. Roy Oswalt and Andy Pettite are much younger and might give you more than a rental player, and they're not going to cost nearly as much money.

You'd need 40,000 accounts to even make a dent in the all-star voting. The all-city team is far easier to rig.

Hey, until the Sox are still the best team in baseball going into the stretch run of the season, they're not going to get the respect they deserve from ESPN's idiot...err...experts, because they all picked the Twins to win the division, and picked their dark horse to be Cleveland. Now that both of those teams combined aren't as many games over .500 as the Sox are, they look stupid, so they're going to sit there and say how the Sox are going to falter and fail eventually. Once they get past their preseason picks late in the season, they'll start begrudgingly admitting that the Sox are for real.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) ESPN's Cold Pizza just had Ken Rosenthal and Buster Olney on and they talked about the players that could be on the trading block. They mentioned that the Giants and Rockies would be willing to move anyone and that Jason Schmidt, Barry Zito, and Preston Wilson will be the major players on the move. I wonder how much he'd cost in a trade? He's been lights out in years past, but he isn't doing so well this year. I wonder who's shown interest for them to even say that he's available?

What do you want/expect out of BMac tonight?
Dam8610 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want 6 innings from him without giving up a HR. If he does that, I think the Sox will win. -
I hope 60, but that's not likely.

WOW, Pods isn't even getting 75% of the vote?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Freel is a little older but he is cheap and plays a ton of positions. Wouldn't that make him good trade bait, especially since he's on a bad team that has almost no chance of competing?
-
Okay. I kind of thought the likelihood of the youngsters being traded was slim, but what about Freel? He'd fit perfectly with the "smallball" philosophy, with his .406 OBP and 21 SB, and he's 29 years old, so it's not like he's a top prospect or anything.

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) For a closer to get a win he must first blow a save. That's why it's bad for closers to get wins. This assumes he is being used exclusively in a closer's role. Sorry, guess I should've used the green.

White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05
Dam8610 replied to sox-r-us's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) How many rookies have kept us to 1 run in 7 2/3 innings this year? How many of those rookies don't even have a year of experience at any level above AA? -
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Wow I didn't realize that was a possibility. I'm really feeling a sweept of KC which means 27 over and a 7 game winning streak. How about 30 games over by the end of June?? Sounds good to me!
-
You're crazy! Closers shouldn't get wins? What kind of thinking is that?

Since we're on the subject of 3B possibilities, here are some of the guys that aren't mentioned very often (if at all) that I think the Sox might want to look at (based on their stats...I have no idea how these guys play 3B): Felipe Lopez (25 YO) - .295/.342/.533 with 11 HR 39 RBI. Plays all IF positions except 1B. Jorge Cantu (23 YO) - .309/.333/.500 with 9 HR 35 RBI. Plays 2B and 3B. Pedro Feliz (30 YO) - .272/.312/.424 with 8 HR 40 RBI. Plays corner infield and corner outfield positions. He appears to be hitting slightly below average this season. Bill Hall (26 YO) - .289/.332/.516 with 8 HR 27 RBI. Plays all IF positions except 1B. Ryan Freel (29 YO) - .287/.406/.403 with 2 HR 9 RBI 21 SB. Plays 2B, 3B, and LF. Chad Tracy (25 YO) - .292/.323/.469 with 7 HR 28 RBI. Plays both corner infield positions. I don't know which of those will be available, but Cantu, Lopez, Tracy, and Freel are very interesting candidates to me.

White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05
Dam8610 replied to sox-r-us's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(go-sox05 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) Bmac is gonna go 7 2/3 with 1bb, 9k's, and 1er. Why do I doubt this? Could it be that he has barely any AAA/MLB experience, and thus will have a quick hook on him? Or could it be that I don't think McCarthy can keep a ML team (even if it is the Royals) to 1 run for 7 2/3 innings at this point in his career? -
Who in the Sox farm system is a player that most Sox fans haven't heard of, but may hear about soon?
