Jake Peavy and Roy Halladay are the only pitchers with equal or better value to Mark IMO. Johan Santana is close, but he's also a 26 year old lefty, and he's really only posted one good season. Everyone else is either too old, or doesn't have the resume that Mark does.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) I look forward to the day that someone actually says they like a certain sports columnist or TV host. Well, when they put a likeable one out there... Seriously though, Rome is an idiot whose idea of a "take" as he so eloquently puts it, is nothing more than regurgitation of the consensus opinion of the media and/or fans. He has nothing to offer, save the abilities to be loud, obnoxious, and annoying to as many people as possible. As others have said here, he shamelessly sacrifices whatever shreds of intelligence and dignity he has on an almost constant basis to try to get people to tune in. His ESPN interview with Jim Everett is a shining example of this. Rather than conductin a mature, intelligible interview, Rome resorts to childish namecalling in a shameless ploy to try to upset the person that has granted him the interview and attempt to garner more ratings from it. Again, as others have said, he's a shameless, spineless, ratings grabber who is willing to tell the public anything they want to hear so that they will keep listening, and most of the time it results in regurgitation of the opinion of the majority of the national media.

Nice. All team here we come!

Anyone know where I can get a voodoo doll and one of Lew Ford's personal belongings?

Bears or Sox? Which gets you more juiced
Dam8610 replied to Benson&Rexage's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
No contest. The , because I never have been a Bears fan. Colts fan, and before you go ripping me about fair weather this and that, you had yours in 2001 (Oh boy was that year fun), just my team is making their run last longer and go further. -
IMO, he's a much more serviceable 5 starter than our past 5 starters.

Vote smart - IT MATTERS THIS YEAR

Probably not, but if enough idiots get the same idea... -
Wow, that's bad, but I still think Maggs could continue to be a great player if he ever recovers from his injury.
-
When healthy, Jose Vidro is near the top of the list. Chase Utley is having a solid season and making himself a viable candidate. Brian Roberts is having a great year, but I think he's playing a little over his head. If Jose Reyes can play up to his potential anytime soon, he'll be right up there. I can't believe Tadahito Iguchi hasn't gotten even a mention as one of the best yet. Still, as of right now, I'd take Soriano's combo of power and speed over any other 2B.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) The fans will never ever vote Timo in anyway. If some NL fan gets the same idea whateverhisscreennamewas did here, they just might get OMIT Perez into the All-Star game, which is why this is a dumb idea. -
I don't think anyone is going to trade for him, I think he'll actually come back and continue his (to this point) stellar career. He may have walked on us and I still dislike him for that, but I can't forget what he did all those years for the Sox.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Oh I'm goin to hav a friggin field day with this, and I'm going to put in FA signings as well; 1) The Randy Johnson Trade (Garland, Konerko and Anderson or Sweeney) 2) Trading for Jay Gibbons (since the O's resigned him for a year) 3) Signing Crisitan Guzman 4) Signing Russ Ortiz 5) Signing Eric Milton 6) Signing Jaret Wright 7) Trading for Alfonso Soriano 8) Signing Orlando Cabrera 9) Signing Derek Lowe to a big contract 10) Trading for Jerry Hairston instead of Scott Podsednik 11) Re-signing Maggilo Ordonez 12) Re-signing Scott Schoeneweis By now you know where most of these "ideas" are coming from; 1) NO WAY! 2) Nope 3) Nah 4) No thanks 5) Nah 6) Nuh-uh 7) Who would we give up? 8) I think he's going to bust out. He's a SS with power who can hit well and take a pitch. I'd still do it. 9) NO! 10) Who suggested that? 11) When healthy, he's one of the top OFs in the game. We're looking smart now, but unfortunately I think Detroit is going to get the last laugh on this one. 12) If he wanted anything more than $1 million, not worth it IMO.

I'd prefer Lew Ford, but he'll do.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) I heard a quick run down of the scores on the radio, and if I'm not mistaken, the Twins were the only AL team to lose tonight. Might've been, I know the AL won 12 games yesterday Anyway, just a friendly reminder that the Twinkies SUCK! 14-7 going to the bottom of the 9th after a Joe Nathan implosion followed by the immaculate mopup work of Terry Mulholland Here's to another Twikies loss!

Problem is some NL fan is doing the exact same thing right about now. Ugh, I can see it now. Your starting RF for the AL All-Stars, OMIT Perez! If people actually decide to do this, then that last comment does not belong in green. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) What type of hit will Lew Ford deliver in this clutch situation. HEY HEY HE GOT OUT!!! Lew Ford already used his powers of clutchness in this game by hitting that 3 run homer in the 5th to give the &^$%$#*&^*%^@^#$@*&^$&^%*&$%$@$#@&^#$#@$*^*&%&^%#&&*%^#*^(&^$%@%(*%^)*(&%$^@@ Twinkies the lead.

Which, if any, of the White Sox prospects do you think have a chance to make the 25-man roster in 2006?
-
Seriously, how do you vote more than once?
-
A.J. is the reason the Sox have such a good pitching staff IMO. Why stop him? It's only going to get into their heads and maybe make them strike out the next time they get up. I say go for it, but I guess that's why I'm a fan.

Hasn't the AL taken like 5 All-Star games in a row and 6 of the last 7 or maybe even more than that? -
