Not in this CIN rumor, specifically......but if there ever were one point in the Yes Column for trading Rodon-- it's that his current contract will likely be his last with the Sox, since Boras will push him to free agency as much as he can (that is, if he isnt mediocre or worse). And we dont tend to like to set the high end of the market as a favor to Boras, or for FA pitchers period

The mystery is in that prime zone for Tim Anderson right now. I will have to be told what the thing is that he projects to do at elite level. I do not see it. If you have a whiz fielder then all this is great......but you risk a lot if that does not come into focus for him. "2 yr rental" minimizes how damn good Frazier is. It has been said here before but Frazier plus an OF signing gets us right where we want to be for win-now. The Sox have to win to get the Reinsdorfs interested in pushing payroll up from year to year. We need to get more people in the seats and win games, especially since the current projections for the Central are not daunting, actually. Trading Anderson preserves Fulmer and Adams, as well as lower level guys. So - strike now

Frazier is worth Tim Anderson, and probably more. 1) it's two years of control at nice prices 2) he's an offensive star 3) he's very good defensively at third 4) Anderson has not solidified defense and has a K% problem. In so many other systems he would not be the #1 prospect. Use the #1-of-our-system tag to move TA for more than he's worth

Cardinals fans on twitter are just in big numbers. We don't have that kind of populace but we have McNally's. All fanbases can be creeps.

lawrie fills a hole and has a small amount of room there for more ceiling. simple as that. Gillaspie, Olt, Saladino provide you no ceiling whatsoever, so this is different from that. Sanchez has some room for improvement but more from a runs saved perspective. He's a MLB regular position player if he's outstanding on defense and 700 OPS or so. And that is not crazy for him to reach.

Two years of Todd Frazier (and not awful pricing for those two years, either) is totally worth Tim Anderson. We can't be delusional about our prospects. Tim Anderson is Top 50 but in so many other farm systems he would not be the #1. Defense and Ks have not been solved. It's a very fair price for a legit all-star 3b who is not old.

These new guys are candidates for offensive shakeup. They have at least done it before. Flowers is not a candidate for that. If you replace bad with bad now, alas-- you then just try something different in 2017. It is a low-risk shakeup. I am not of the contingent that we risk the pitching staff's success (and Rodon's development) by dismissing Flowers.

we ask the players to treat this profession as more than just a $$-centered business fun & celebrating? then we reprimand them for it. I never had a problem with buehrle saying he'd play for the Cardinals. be honest & be yourself, whatever it is.
