Are we the A's now?

Micah Johnson sent to Charlotte AAA
We took a shot by going with the one guy with a sliver of star potential. Now we go to the well-rounded guy to save the season (at 2b, that is, not as a whole). Micah can be the CF when Eaton invariably gets injured at some point. Love how MJ works at-bats.

White Sox at Twins Game Thread 7:10 PM CT
So unfair of Hawk to say "We lost it on a wild pitch" We lost it from having no bats

Carlos Quentin has retired
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) As special as he made it, he also unraveled it. That guy was truly his own worst enemy Perhaps true but that bat-slap-of-the-wrist was so damn innocuous. Yeah, he was wound kind of tight. But players have inflicted less on themselves with more tightly-wound moments than that one. Bad luck.

Man. 2008 was such a special year. Crazy that he has walked away from it all at 32.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) Somebody needs to rip Abreu for his bonehead move to open the floodgates, but I am sure RV will say nothing to rock the country club atmosphere under his watch! The manager ripping his player sounds like a genius idea.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) When worthless De Aza walks and singles in the same inning just wrap it up for the day. De Aza - always above replacement and as a White Sox cost very little

4/14 - White sox vs Indians
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) Yes but that is limited. He isn't going to bat for Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, Garcia, Ramirez. And not a lot of teams have more than 1 or 2 LH relievers. Alright, well my whole thing is lets not write the story on this til it actually happens. I'll determine waste of $3M this year once the year is over. If you have a win now year then the non Conor ABs and the non Micah ABs are a concern for a depth less team with so-so ready now farm talent that can step in. Sanchez & Micah are something you hope will pan out but for a win-now roster with FAs, they were not at any point going to be the only answer.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) If Bonifacio can only or should only play against LHP, approximately 80% of pitchers are RH, so he should start, if used properly by the experts here, 32 or 33 games a season. If being used properly means you can only bat against 1 or 2 or 3 pitchers on a staff, what a waste of $4 million. Do not forget situational late game PH ABs and situational postseason PH ABs And 3M this year, factoring in the positional flexibility-- is fine. The extra 1M is just the 2016 fully guaranteed portion. When you have rookies and question marks in the IF, your best bench IF is a real role.

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) The lack of walks is, to me, a sure sign that guys are pressing, not being patient. Eaton and Melky will have to rebound before this looks better. It is a little disturbing to me how little we know about Eaton. the contract is fine but his propensity to hit his way on foremost (plus injury history) is a little worrisome. Well, currently....only slight amounts of worrisome.

John Danks
This is a big thing for me. Danks and Noesi both have the ability to be kinda OK or any range of bad. That's frightening. Rodon should be up now, and he should do some MiLB time during all-star break to preserve the extra year of arbitration. Reason being..... I don't like our offense enough to have just three good starters for these first few months. I'm fine with our offense if we are one of those undoubtedly pitching-first teams. And being win-now, I'd like the best four starters in place ASAP.

White Sox @ Royals 1:10 CT
It's two games. Two losses amongst many is all they'll be by year's end. We showed signs of life and yesterday was one of those that just happened to tip the other way. Putnam is frightening..may be time to give Guerra a look later in games.

Potential punching bags
Were things to go south this year, who do you think would be scapegoat #1? Or most likely blame candidate, deserved or not? Some possibilities: -Giant target on Ventura now that he finally has big talent now -Avisail -Conor for not being big time Chicago tough demeanor-wise It will be weird not having Beckham on this list but alas all traditions must end. He's now a background piece.
-
I have a bad feeling about this team...
It's a chaotic game. We have last year's Royals talent potentially beat on paper. But execution & luck will factor in. The entire goal is to get into the postseason -- then after that it is largely chaos that'll determine what is up.

Final 25 man roster will be announced Th 4/2
Jeff PassanVerified account @JeffPassan Geovany Soto and Matt Albers made the White Sox, expected to join active roster. Brad Penny and Jesse Crain received $100K retention bonuses

The 25-man right now
Micah has the upside and you need some breaks to go right to make it a special year That said, Sanchez is the one they're more sure can handle the position. You could see a team's promising year broken by defensive miscues if you put another defensive risk on the everyday group. Defense was a problem last year and avi, melky, conor, abreu all have glove issues. laroche too despite his reputation.
