  1. Let's just sweep KC and let the chips fall where they may.
  2. Maybe if, I mean, WHEN the Sox sweep the Tigers this weekend, Thome and the team can afford a few off days for him next week with KC in town??? I can't help thinking that his minor injuries are adding up and bothering him more than he's letting on. I'm not saying KC should be overlooked, but a few days rest (again) might do him some good.
  3. Personally, I've been a little disappointed with Thome in the clutch. So many of his home runs are solo shots in the the fourth inning or something like that. Which is awesome, don't get me wrong. But it seems like he's come up short with runners on in close games in late innings on several occasions. The other night when he came up against the Yanks in the the 9th, the first thing I thought was, "Uh oh, groundout to second coming up right here." Hopefully, he'll improve in the clutch department. Just my .02.
  4. The Trib's David Haugh today... Huh? This comment comes dangerously close to Mariotti-like levels if lunacy. Listen, the White Sox are in a situation where every game is, essentially, a playoff game. Every single game. And the fans know this. So when their team is losing 7-0, yeah, the first sign of life is more than enough reason to get excited, if even just a little. That's why they're there in the first place. To get excited when the Sox do well. Or do something - anything - positive or hopeful. Don't criticize fans for cheering their team. Don't ever criticize any fans for cheering their team. Sox fans or otherwise. I'm not being a touchy Sox fan here. I'm just being a fan - period - and Haugh's assertion is ludicrous. Hey, I don't care what the situation is. As a Sox fan, I don't ever want to see my my team get no-hit. Ever. I don't care if it's a huge game in the middle of a pennant chase as last night's was or if the game is as meaningless as a Paris Hilton song. Sox fans had every right to cheer their team on last night, regardless of the situation, and saying otherwise is to completely miss the big picture. Besides, what has Johnson ever done for the Sox that merit's Sox fans forgetting their deep concerns about the playoff chase to instead worry about his no-hit bid? As for last night's game, I'm looking at the bright side and giving the Sox credit for coming back from a 7-0 deficit in the seventh inning. They showed heart, which is all you can ask. They had runners on first and third with Jim Thome at the plate as the game ended. They were right there. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. There are positives to be found. Of course, they need to win the series tonight. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-sports-print
  5. I'm looking for a comprehensive list, fellas. Any help? Recommendations? Thanks.
  6. Who's starting today, Konerko or Thome?
  7. I've never watched a single minute of the ESPYs and I don't plan on starting now. What a waste of time. I hope the Sox win, though.
  8. Any Fire fans in here? If so, you might enjoy some of the pics I took at the first game in the new stadium on Sunday night... http://unknowncolumn.blogspot.com/2006/06/fun-with-fire.html
  9. Isn't pretty much every BigTen game already on anyway? Or at least the big ones?
  10. This will get laughed off just like it's lauged off every time a team makes this absurd claim.

    Jenks

I think as long as Jenks is in the conversation of best closer in baseball, it's all good. Some other closer may be considered better by some, but as long as Bad Bobby gets the job done, it's nothing but someone's opinion, so who who cares. I think he has to be in the top 2-3 by now and he's getting better, IMHO.
  12. I love how Riske has been here about two minutes and has a suspension already. Hysterical.
  13. Tracey and Ozzie will be just fine. I'm sure Ozzie will talk to the kid and they'll have a good laugh about the incident. The media made it sound like Tracey was so crushed he's going to hang himself. Give me a break.
  14. Pujols won't matter if we score 13+ runs gain. So let's get to it.

    Psyche

I think the Tigers' success is partly my fault. I have Pudge on my fantasy team and it's messing up the vibes/karma of the universe. I'm trying to trade him as we speak.
  16. I honestly think I would like a bullet to the brain more than I like Mariotti. What a worthless piece of excrement he is. How does he still have a job? As far as I can tell, nobody in this town likes him.
  17. Hawk cracked me up last week when describing nervous relief pitchers: "Some of these guys' rear ends are so tight you couldn't pull a greased-up hair out of there with pliers."

    Crede

    Is Crede playing today (Sunday)?
  19. Bernstein is a smug prick. He's the type of a-hole who makes up for a lack of self-esteem being smarmy and making fun of others constantly. He rips people to make himself feel better. He walways takes the negative route. I used to find him kind of funny until I realized he's smarmy and arrogant all the time.
  20. Is Singleton still in shape? Maybe he can play center. He couldn't hit much worse than the kid, right?
  21. Did Uribe name his baby Alex? It works for a girl or a boy.
  22. I don't recall Zambrano having problems with teammates. It's usually aimed at himself or the umps. Plus, he's young. He can mature. Everyone is crazy at 21 or 22. He's just a little moreso.
