Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
If he gets to 550, he should get serious consideration. Obviously he's far from a complete player, but he'll still be one of the top 25 or so clean power hitters of all time. Over 100 years of baseball and you're talking about one of the really elite home run hitters ever. There has to be some consideration for that. The Hall is full of guys who weren't complete players yet made it because they were exceptional at one thing for an extended period. I wouldn't be shocked if he got some votes just to spite the juicers and make a statement about the era. I'm not saying he deserves it though.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) Fielder is only 30 though. I can't imagine his decline is happening already. A really short, fat 30.

GT: 8/20. Spoiler alert in KC
Pretty amazing play by Alexei.

GT: 8/20. Spoiler alert in KC
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) He looks way better vs LHP...probably cause they can't throw that slider low and outside to him that he loves to swing at. It's not just the slider. He can't hit pitches in either. His swing plane is flat as hell. His approach is awful. He's defensive in 0-0 counts. Despite having short arms, he can't get his hands in because he's way too beefed up.

Nobody wants to say it, but Phegley sucks. I hate his swing.

I would need an uber prospect for Quintana, or Santiago, for that matter. I do like Quintana more though.

Alexei Ramirez
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) To the eyes of most fans: He made a diving play, he has great range. This always cracks me up with outfielders. We can't see the play develop on TV so fans missed the Aaron Rowands of the world diving because they broke in on a ball that was crushed or vice versa. It shouldn't happen as much with infielders though.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
Keeping Alexei in the 2 hole cost the team some runs. Now that he's moved out of it, his approach is better.

Teams abandoning shift against Dunn
Dunn has some strange stats. It's hard to believe he played in at least 158 games 7 times. He's been really healthy for a guy his size.

41/96/333/800 led the league in walks. I can't say that guy was unproductive.

Sale 6th in baseball in WAR
A "replacement player" is worth 0 wins right? A player like Chris Sale is going to guarantee you at least 10 wins by dominating games.

Sale 6th in baseball in WAR
Starting pitcher WAR doesn't make sense to me. A true ace is going to guarantee anywhere from 10-15 wins even on a bad team.

8.18 Sox vs Twins
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 03:15 PM) Hector's thrown a lot of stressful pitches today, no reason for him to still be in the game at 111 pitches. lol. Your fascination with pitch counts is amusing.

8.18 Sox vs Twins
It's been amazing how Alexei has changed his approach since moving in the line up.

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) wtf is Hawk talking about? you have the #1 in the draft its not f***ing token.... He just makes s*** up. The Twins were criticized for drafting Mauer over Prior because Mauer was cheaper.

GMing for 2014 Rebuild
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) If it's a serious conversation why would you say clone Dunn? How would you improve he team's OBP? With the advancements in technology, cloning Adam Dunn is a very real possibility, Marty.

GMing for 2014 Rebuild
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) If the Sox can get him for less by all means they should do it. He's a very good fit for what the team needs as he gets on base. I'd give up no more than Webb or Petricka.

GMing for 2014 Rebuild
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) The guy can get on base. Lifetime .342 OBP and 4 HR's this year and you want to trade one of the best young starters in baseball for him. Maybe we can get Lyle Overbay, Ross Gload and Nick Johnson while we're at it.

GMing for 2014 Rebuild
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 12:36 PM) Morrison has the attributes needed for a prottype #3 hitter. 119 OPS+. Who are other young hitters who can be targeted? Seriously? He walks a little, has declining power and is on the verge of being fat. Everything about him screams roids. He's also ugly and has a stupid haircut. He is left handed though.

Logan Morrison sucks. My God... Logan Morrison? Jesus, Marty.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Kinda not the point. I'm sure he realizes "save" exists. The point is your computer shouldn't do this kind of stupid s*** by default. I never lose where I am on my OSX regardless of a power outage or otherwise. My iMac reboots and automatically reopens everything I had opened to the same spot it was before the reboot, regardless of why it rebooted. This should be default OS behavior in 2013. I haven't had to click on "save" in more than two years now to avoid losing work. For as much as everyone makes fun of us Apple people, things like this make me LOL. By your rational you shouldn't need airbags in your car since they have that nifty function called a "break", too. I save every 15 minutes if I'm doing anything productive. If you fall asleep and your computer updates while its in sleep mode, that's not the OS's fault. It's not like it just updated without warning and starting a countdown. It's more like blaming a car for running into a wall after you fell asleep at the wheel. The computer doesn't do anything you don't want it to do.
