  1. Because we disagree about a player being "great?"
  2. At what? Is talking about baseball a contest?
  3. Is Giancarlo Stanton great? I certainly don't think so.
  4. Who said I hate Machado? Holy hyperbole.
  5. I said hes very good. Wtf do you want? Hes not great. Hes not elite. Elite players don't come down to signing for the Sox or Padres.
  6. Hes not elite at anything. Hes very good.
  7. The guy who played 140+ games at SS in 2018 isn't a SS? Makes sense. Moving forward, I'd still rather have Moncada at 3rd anyway.
  8. From what I've seen, hes already losing range as he fills out. He won't be at SS for much longer. Hes better at 3rd, but I'd much rather have Moncada at 3rd for the next 7 years.
  9. He's not good defensively. Hes a future fat guy. Hes a very good hitter, but not exceptional. I'd love to have him, but he's not a franchise player imo. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the 3rd or 4th best player on the Sox in 3 years.
  10. I was confused when I first read his name. Now I'm more confused.
  11. Maybe they just don't think Machado is a franchise player. I certainly don't. Maybe they only have the budget for a single super contract and they didn't want to blow it on him. IDK. Machado's damn good, but people are really overrating him. Maybe they like a future IF of Yoan, Anderson and Madrigal for really cheap more than an IF of Machado, Anderson and Yoan for a shitload of money.
  12. The front office has been nothing short of garbage in Hahn's tenure. I wouldn't argue with anybody about that. That doesn't mean that I think they should have signed Machado.
  13. You want to bet over which contract is the better investment?
  14. I don't know you. I was reacting to a comment made on the board. When you make the comment, you're opening that door.
  15. How is reactionary when they always try to sign their big prospects to extensions?
  16. The worst part is that people are so butthurt about Machado that they're invading other threads calling Burger a fat ass, talking shit about Robert and throwing a fit about Eloy being extended. It would he fine if the b****fest was contained in the Machado thread, but don't throw other players under the bus.
  17. Complaining about complaining is slightly different than moving because you're mad that the Sox didn't sign Machado. One is rational. The other is bat shit ridiculous.
  18. I can't speak for him, but it gets pretty annoying having the board dominated by the same 6 or 8 posters repeating the same "woah is me" bullshit every day over hundreds of posts.
  19. That's a bummer, but most of us grew up watching really shitty Sox teams. Thankfully my generation had Frank and a couple decent runs, but we also had the Strike and the White Flag Trade. Being a Sox fan ain't a lot of fun if you only care about winning.
  20. Ah. The old "you live in your mom's basement because you don't whine incessantly on the internet" argument. Nice one.
  21. Yeah, I know. We get it. You're mad. I think we all figured it out about 1,000 posts ago.
  22. If you're changing your life and considering moving because Manny Machado wanted to play in SD, you must have a pretty fuckin easy life with no real problems. I envy you.
  23. I would call it off balance and wouldn't teach it to anybody. He did have amazing hands though. His bat to ball ability was amazing. For a guy with so much success, he rarely squared pitches up. When he did, they went a long way. I remember him hitting the back of the concourse once. The only ball I've personally ever seen hit harder was off the bat of Joe Borchard funnily enough
  24. Frank was a strange hitter. He had an incredibly ugly, off balance swing, but was strong as hell and had the best eye of any RH I've ever seen. Maybe the best in the history of the game. He had more "oops" hits and HR's than anybody I've ever seen. Eloy has a much prettier swing, but won't be in the same league as Frank. That's not a slight on Eloy. That's just Frank being one of the best RH hitters in the entire history of baseball.
