Hahn on 670 the score now - 1140 am Central

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) Basically all of those deals looked bad for the player almost immediately. Those were fantastic signings at the perfect tine. They were 3 of the more valuable assets in all of baseball last offseason for that reason. Other teams haven't had that success. If it wasn't for those contracts, the Sox would be pretty much royally f***ed right now. Yea other teams might have started the trend, just like other teams have done full tear downs. But Hahn, at least imo, has done it better than anybody. Balta makes a good point about he's yet to field a good, winning club, but as far a rebuild GM Hahn is lighting up the scoreboard. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) The most interesting thing Hahn clearly said the report that JR held up the deal for a period of days was "not accurate". Stands by the timeline that they released. As I said at the time, logistically it makes zero f***ing sense to have such a long lag between the agreement (on the trade) and owner approval. No sane GM would negotiate a deal and then call back his trading partner and say "well we need 72 hours to clear it with the owner". That's just an awful and stupid way to do business JR is way too business savvy to kneecap his GM like that. -
Jimenez could be heading to AA soon

QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) Ok, so you were just misquoting him. Got it. Gotta love Hahn's honesty there. He's right of course. Jose hardly ever sees fastballs middle in anymore it's usually a steady diet of junk low and away. It's sapped a large amount of Jose's power. Jose is still a good player, he's just not the star we hoped he'd be after his rookie season. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) One of the primary reasons Sale, Q and Eaton brought back the returns they did was due to the contracts Hahn negotiated with them. The man deserves the praise he is receiving. Coke to you. -

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) I am a Rick Hahn fan, but the amount of love he's gotten from fans lately is bordering on the absurd. The reason he was able to get such good prospects back in these trades, is because he dealt a bunch of great players, not because he's great! Maybe he did better than the average GM would have (who knows), but any competent GM could've extracted a lot of value in these trades too. The fact that we had to rebuild with a roster full of valuable players is an indictment on Rick, Kenny, and Jerry. The rebuild is exciting, and I'm very optimistic, but the praise for Hahn is out of control. Part of the reason Hahn was able to extract such incredible prospects for these guys is the contracts Hahn signed them to in the first place. The praise for Hahn is warranted. The Sox went from a dead end club to one of the most exciting futures in baseball in the span of a year. -
Moncada posts productive Fenway return

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 01:01 AM) I know you're a fan of the Cano comp and i can see it similarly how Avi looks like Miggy, but from a production stand point i think Moncada settles into a David Wright like player, with the potential for multiple 30/30 seasons, I also think his K rate will drop significantly similar to how Bryant adjusted when he got comfortable in the league. If he's a David Wright without injuries then bring it the heck on and he'll be a cornerstone for the next decade on the SS. Wright has become under rated imo he's a very, very good player when healthy. I don't ever see Moncada hitting for the average Wright has, but he has much more value as a pure athlete, that is where I see the Cano comps. edit: Hell, looking at Wright's stats, dude has only produced 12 less WAR than Cano in his career and has a 6 and 7 WAR season to his credit. If Moncada is worth 53 fWAR in the next 12 years that's excellent. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 11:49 PM) He has zero technique and footwork right now. It is all instinct and no skill at this point in the field. instinct will take you a long way at 2B. And skill? He has skill. You can teach footwork. I wanted to mention it earlier but didn't 'cause it was too tangential but unlike TA, Moncada has soft hands. Moncada's feet get in his way, just like TA, but unlike TA, Moncada can cradle a ball. Similar to Yolmer except Yolmer is juts as textbook as it gets fundamentals wise. I'm high on TA long term defensively as well, for different reasons.

Moncada posts productive Fenway return

After tonight he's almost average with the bat, use your imagination on the column headers. That 18.3% walk rate is sexy the K% at 31% is elevated but in today's MLB it's the new reality for some guys, stars and all. The power should come as will the average, with time. 2017 71 11 2 1 1 6 7 0 1 13 22 18.3 % 31.0 % .125 .303 .196 .366 .321 .318 wRC+ 96 -
Moncada is quieter in the pre-pitch routine but approach, load and hip turn wise (open stance quick direct load, violent hips) they are very similar. Pretty swings from both. Moncada hopefully can one day get there from the right side as well, or at least close.

To me Moncada looks like a dead ringer in the field as well. It's funny how athletic he is on the bobbles, great hand eye but his lower half needs work. He was 22 during that HR I believe. ty, that's awesome. I was just watching some cano clips but didn't see that one.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:36 PM) That ain't gonna happen. Plus Abreu has worked hard to improve at 1B 50/50 split needs to happen though. He's still a bad defender at 1B and only getting older.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) Moncada has reached base 14 times in his last 25 plate appearances. Is that good?
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:34 PM) Man that swing is sexy Ball hit the ground and sped up.
-
Moncada already with the Cano move of 75% running on a frozen rope in a 7-0 run game late. lmao. Kid's a natural man.
-
That was a nasty f***ing pitch. Wow. That's like turning the pitching machine up to 10/10 and putting the tilt on.

QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:25 PM) Also, if we lose out on the number pick and pick 3rd, I wont be mad if it meant our young guys have shown signs of life. We can still draft an all star at 3 or 4. Delmonico to 1B and Jose full time to DH. The talk needs to happen this offseason. It will only help Abreu prolong his career.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:21 PM) This series is so baseball, of course we would be dominating the Astros. Their reddit is a "fun" place right now.

Just watched the TA double. That has to be one of his best swings of the year . f*** YEA. Show some signs kid.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) Timmy just shut me up haha...only took like 4 hanging sliders for him to finally hammer one but at least he got it!! That's one more than he usually hits.

Right size, wrong shape, love how Moncada is being aggressive though. Ah, he just missed it.
