The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
Possible medical problem, no?

He can play and obviously size isn't that important for position players. Yea all things equal give me a guy like Moncada or TA body wise but all things aren't equal. Kid can hit and he can field. It's a skills game for the most part.

I like the pick. Am I a crazy or is there a little Eloy Jimenez in that swing? Like, obviously not the power but the load mechanism is similar. They both get their hands ready to hit early which is going to allow them to really wait on the ball.

The defensive highlights of Madrigal are lit, goodness. Pretty amazing hands.

That is an ugly ass swing for the 13th pick overall. I guess if he's an elite defensive CF he won't have to hit much.

Adam Dunn, Juan Pierre, can we get maybe Conor Gillaspie on TV as well?

For now? Nothing, check back in two years. Yoan is like plus 5 runs in 100 games at 2B, no reason to move him now.

He is short but luckily they are drafting for Baseball. Never really bought any size argument for position players.

Was madrigal supposed to fall here?

I don't think he has any of the instinct needed to play the OF. As you mentioned he's possibly the worst OF to ever start a MLB game. I'm not sure how many reps with fungoes can help now. Presumably he's been taking a lot of fungoes in his pro career. Try him at 1B, he can't possibly be worse than the OF, can he?

Rodon? Not yet.
Could be an issue getting out of a regional airport in Charlotte as well. He made the flight that's the important thing. As noted, hope he pitches great this year for the Sox, couldn't care less what he does off the field if he's good and healthy on it. If he continues to struggle with health and the rumors about his off field habits continue then I'll speculate further. In this case my speculation was unwarranted.

They were actually HR that the league mandated into triples because of pace of pace rules.

I'm not going to say anything on the absurdity of God caring about Rodon making a flight (actually I guess I just did) but how about as a pro athlete you make sure you have a little more time to make your flight, like what else you got going on? Certainly adds a bit more to the "he's a bit of a knucklehead" theory.

He has no big league future unless he picks up a 1B mitt and can play it at least as well as Adam Dunn, which is bad, but tolerable if he can produce a 125 wRC+ or thereabouts.

James Shields comment...
well keep pitching decent, bruh, and you'll be on a winner soon enough.

Game Day in Chicago Saturday June 2nd at 1:10 Pm CDT Brewers and Sox
This team is unwatchable. In general my thoughts mirror Richie's. It's rough but try and look forward to better times ahead.

Sox have team meeting after game
During the meeting, was a seance performed in order to heal Avi, Leury, Smith and Delmonico? Because inserting actual MLB fielders at a couple positions might not hurt the cause.

why are the ratings anonymous? That's pretty chickeshit imo.

Tim never met a hanging breaking ball he couldn't foul off with two strikes.

Never seen a catcher that can't crouch. That's Narvaez. Someone should suggest he goes to the old one leg out Sandy Alomar style when nobody is on base. It might actually allow him to keep a steady target for the pitcher.
