  1. He's Nick Madrigal. Cocky and hasn't earned anything. "hard worker" is meaningless. everybody that makes pro ball is a hard worker. At this point in his career he either has the talent to succeed or he does not. "hard work" will mean little if it's ineffective.
  2. Kelenic speaking on culture is like Mussolini speaking on liberal democracy.
  3. Respect the hell out of MJ for that stance.
  4. 55 grade name. 35 grade player. Nobody in central is doing jack s%*# other than Sox to improve. Pathetic.
  5. Only if they just ate Nick's salary and cut him loose. We need to find ABs for Quero and Baldwin so we can see what they are. Adding a DH fucks that.
  6. We don't need to be taking on salary right now, full stop. use any excess resources in the org to continue to build up the analytics and scouting teams in LA and Asia.
  7. At best they'd get a back end top 100 guy to take on like 20-30 million of salary. Not sure that's a great use of resources.
  8. Loveland was the most athletic TE I've ever seen at UM and we've had some good ones. He has unreal hands and fluidity for a guy that big. Some of the catches he made in big spots for UM were the definition of "game breaker". In the championship game against UW he caught a ball that I think even 90% of NFL TEs don't catch and he made about 40 yards out of it, got UM the momentum back. I believe it would have setup 3rd and long if he didn't catch it, instead it was a huge chunk play. He tried to play through a badly injured shoulder his junior year in a season that was over really before it began with Alex Orji and Davis Warren the QBs. He could have just shut up shop and gotten ready for the draft but he reinjured it instead and it cost him his first NFL training camp and lord knows how many weight room days leading up to the combine. He's a gamer on top of everything else and wants to play even when it might cost him personal stats if he can help the team anyway he can. Willing blocker and has a mean streak too. Other than maybe not being roided up like Brock he has no weaknesses. Create a player type guy.
  9. That was awkward. Looked like he was having second thoughts. Probably the realization of playing for that crap org.
  10. That Kent got in and Lou Whitaker has not is a fucking joke and (imo) pretty clear institutional racism, even if the individual voters don't see it that way.
  11. Hate to say it but with the lockout pending that plan will be altered. I can't see anybody really doing much next offseason until the new CBA is signed. Fingers crossed somehow they come to an agreement.
  12. Yea it's fine. a 12-15 game improvement is all we can really expect. It doesn't make any sense to spend 20 million or whatever to get closer to a projected 78-80. Keep the flexibility for when the team is closer to a 88 win projection and JR has flipped it over to Ishbia.
  13. I don't think it really makes much sense to add anybody to the 40 man now. I'd prefer to just wait until spring, mid march maybe, and see what's available then. I know some people thought we'd try and push for 80 wins but it's just not happening, including for (imo) reasons after the 2026 season.
  14. Ah shucks. Well good for Lee he'll probably find a home somewhere. The Sox have been a sneaky good org for catchers even through all the awful rosters the last 10 years.
  15. Lee is a perfectly cromulent backup catcher. As an older fan I appreciate that he's around, and GMs do as well. Seasons are lost on a catcher injury and a -2 WAR "regular" suddenly playing every day. The smart play is to just hold onto Lee until someone inevitably goes down and trade him for a lotto ticket. You do that 20 times over a decade you hit on a couple.
  16. Have to think Lee will be traded in early spring for a team that has a injured backup catcher.
  17. Another good move on the margins. Refreshing to finally have some upside guys at the end of the 40 man.
  18. Not even the Sox were stupid enough to meet that price.
  19. Wasn't ever too much surplus value / window to trade Robert the last three seasons given his performance and injuries. Probably the fact of the matter at this point is the Sox have bigger fish to fry. If he gets moved great, if he doesn't, fine, he's not going to be a part of the next good Sox team either way.
  20. Worst case he'd except the QO no? Middle case he declines and we'll pocket the extra pick.
  21. They have Cole Young as basically their only 2B right now. Looking at the profiles there's a good shot that Sosa is the better player in 26, in what should be a contention window for the Mariners. I dunno, I'd argue you are never getting 9 WAR from a catcher again, and even regressing to a 4 WAR star puts them behind the 8 ball a bit. They need to try and improve.
  22. John Paxson punched a guy and because he was a 40th percentile or so GM kept his job for another half decade. AKME are one of the worst FOs in the NBA and there is zero talk of a hot seat. I realize Michael ostensibly runs the Bulls but this is a JR hallmark. He is extremely hesitant to put in the hard work to find better employees. He's been this way going on two decades.
