Official 6/10/16 Royals @ White Sox Gamethread
chitownsportsfan replied to clyons's topic in 2016 Season in Review
glad I tuned into for this one! -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) I think they are truly interested in seeing how the funky delivery translates to the MLB. It wouldn't be Fulmer as they don't want to take a chance of decreasing his chances of success if he's not ready. lol. I also think they are desperate and have nobody better. Where are all the Don Cooper projects? Where are all the new Matt Thornton's or Sergio Santos? Not as easy to put together a staff when your pitching coach is no longer finding any gems and instead is whiffing on guys like Albers, Latos, etc.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) I think the evidence would be that do you truly believe that a person so coveted by so many organizations would turn down all of those other positions to take one where he has no say or power? If they answer is yes, I don't want him as GM. If it's no, then they work TOGETHER. The decisions are mutual and they rise or fall TOGETHEr. no other sports team does that. This isn't a corporation there's no "shares" there's no board of directors. It's a clear chain of command industry. There's a reason nobody else does it and that is because it never ever works. Funnily enough the Bulls are SETUP THE SAME WAY. Gee, could it be that JR is just old and either doesn't care or doesn't have all his faculties in order anymore? Nobody ever gets fired in the Sox org other than the guys a rung below the top -- some scouts, maybe a bench coach or hitting coach -- never the VP, the GM, the Manager.

it's so obvious that KW is still running things, all these moves scream "KW dumpster dives". Very disheartening.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) From the opening day roster, John Danks, Jerry Sands, and now Mat Latos are off of the 25 man roster. JB Shuck was already sent down once. My guess from playing patterns is that Jimmy Rollins is next, unless there is a trade that changes the roster differently. If they DFA a guy the manager was batting 6th against a RHP just the other day then I will just laugh, because it's too depressing to think about otherwise. There is a disconnect the size of the grand canyon on this management team.

Lemme guess, the guy behind the scenes making all these recs on guys he can fix -- Don Cooper -- isn't even being considered for replacement. This is also the guy telling RV to keep running about Matt Albers. NEW f***ING BLOOD.

Nationals (Scherzer) @ Sox (Shields)

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Honestly if would like to see what Hahn can do with some good organization. Reinsdorf has his hand in too much and Kenny is always right there yep. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) I've supported Hahn because he seems like a smart, good person. But the results speak for themselves. if they fire hahn and leave KW and RV in place I'm taking a long break from Sox baseball. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Rollins hitting 6th vs a righty I cannot wait until the Sox come to Seattle I'm going to get a seat right behind the dugout and heckle the s*** out of RV. -
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Blame the mental misget SS who booted two plays in one inning. it happens to tyler it's a problem with tyler, happens over and over and over again? it's a problem with the front office and specifically the manager. No leadership on this team because RV has no leadership ability. Team wallows in its self pity, we've seen this time and time again.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) This is, absolutely, 100%, my least favorite White Sox team I've watched since I became a fan. It's one thing to downright suck like they have the past few years because they simply didn't have the talent, but this team is totally different. They showed they had to the potential to win and be successful early in the year, but they still managed to choke away a SIX, SEVEN, AND EIGHT game lead over the 3 other divisional teams. It's ridiculously sad, pathetic, and embarrassing. I'm at my wits end watching this garbage. the constant denominator is RV. I won't bother with this team until he's gone. There's no leadership, the players change, good players are brought in even, and yet in clutch moments or even mundane day to day moments they don't come through often. In addition the poor tactical decisions by RV hinder their odds in any given game.

6/4 - White Sox @ Tigers Game Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:46 PM) And I swear it was like Hahn was trying to put together as horrible of a bottom of the roster as he possibly could. Way too many completely useless players. everything about Shuck and Sands screams "KW". I'm more convinced then ever he's the man behind the curtain pulling the strings. -

pitching is the least of this team's problems but apparently management doesn't agree. -

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Sale had a good game again. Problem is a trash pitcher Pelfry shut down our putrid miserable, worthless, laughable offense. JR needs to have an outburst like the Padres owner did. If not him then somebody!!!!!!!!!!! sure did the padres a lot of good! -

why can't baseball ever be fun as a Sox fan? -
I'm down with this trade given all the money coming their way. Buying low is a solid strategy I think here.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) Why does he insist on Shuck batting 5th?! (Has flashbacks of 2005 Timo Perez batting 5th). RV reminds me of Ozzie except that unlike Ozzie he has zero redeeming qualities as a manager. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Out of curiosity can someone actually spell out the numbers for me? Are there better of odds of getting multiple hits, or an extra base hit starting when no one is out to get the two runs home (playing for the win on the road), or one base hit driving in two runs with runners on 2nd and 3rd and starting with one out? What do the actual statistics look like here? it's not hard just look at the WPA graph: Went down basically 1% after the SUCCESSFUL bunt. Given that Melky is better than your average hitter the actual impact was probably higher than the generic win expectancy chart. It was an awful decision. Things like this add up.

Can Someone Honestly Tell Me ONE Thing That Ventura Does Well?
chitownsportsfan replied to SoCalSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) Cooper gets too much of a pass. A lot of input into strategic and player personnel decisions. An org guy (i.e. Williams guy), not a RV guy Thornton was a decade ago. it was always dumb to name hahn gm and not have him bring in his own guys. Even the mariners figured that one out. This isn't a bad team. This is a solid team that is mostly poorly managed both tactical and leadership wise. -

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) This is Robin's thought process and it is a VERY bad one. Worry about the game in front of you, especially when the team is collapsing. Cross tomorrow's bridges when you get to them. exactly.
