  1. No but he could be what Laroche was supposed to be.
  2. if the successfully rehab him it will restore some confidence in their medical team for me.
  3. For me personally his DWL performance cemented him as an elite hitting prospect. There's a lot MLBers that go down there and struggle to hit 270. Eloy absolutely dominated, I think he finished like 340/400/650 in about 100 PA. The only obstacle to this kid having an All-Star filled career is health imo. His bat is on the Manny Ramirez, Pujols, Cabrera level. Not saying he's going to have a HOF career like those guys but they are who you compare him to at this point in his development.
  4. They are going to let him play as long as he experiences no pain and it doesn't hinder his batting. He'll get a full year DHing, then they will re-evaluate his elbow in late summer and if he needs surgery he'll have it then. For position players it's usually a 8 month rehab (for full clearance of baseball activities) so if he does need surgery and has it in say early September he should be 100% by next June. He would probably be swinging and doing light throwing all spring training.
  5. What an amazing start to the season for the Farm boys.
  6. My surgeon explained to me that middle age and being a guy are big risk factors for tendon tears, especially if you have a history of tendonitus, are overweight and active. I had all the risk factors when I did mine. As ptac is saying, this just isn't supposed to happen to a young kid that is supposed to be in great shape. I bet he wasn't using the boot and slipped. The #1 thing my surgeon emphasized is that (like ptac said) you really only get one shot to get this right. I was so paranoid that I even wore my full length leg braces while sleeping because I was afraid I'd sleepwalk and re-tear them. Could you explain your reasoning? I was lukewarm on it but now I'm just puking. Could have had so many other guys.
  7. He's done. I just hope it wasn't him breaking rehab protocol. Sox might have a beef with him then. What an awful pick in hindsight.
  8. ozzie being a little b**** is what got himself fired. he let his ego manage after 2006 or so. the dude won the Sox a WS and helped me through one of the darkest parts of my life (it's a father son story told though the Sox in part) , I'm not going to begrudge the guy jack shit but ffs no, just no on bringing him back. as others mentioned, he quit on the Sox. That's a cardinal sin.
  9. Goodness, WS had 19 hits tonight. Ti'Quan Forbes is holding his own down there, improving his K/BB rate massively and his slash line, although he's still only at a 688 OPS. He's got a long ways to go but he's got time, as he doesn't turn 22 until late August.
  10. I'm loving this Lampert guy. A lot of guys forcing the issue right now. Great to see.
  11. Nobody is giving up on him but he wouldn't be getting AA batters out with his stuff this season. Other than the one start, he's had absolutely nothing. He can't control his mediocre fastball, his changeup is a show me pitch, and his curve ball is flat and rarely if ever thrown for a taken strike. He's fooling nobody.
  12. Paxton got it. Cool.
  13. As noted, dude is a mental midget on the mound.
  14. Ben Gamel made a leaping play at the wall to keep it going. Crazy. I turned the Sox game off and put the Mariners game on the radio. A lot more fun.
  15. I have to admit that I have not liked the scouting report on this guy since they day he was acquired. Everything about it just screams "damaged goods" in more ways than one, and by that I mean physically as well as mentally I'm not sure he's fit to pitch in MLB. That said, Hahn made the best deal he could for Eaton and I hope with all hope that Gio proves me wrong. If Cooper can't get through to him though, I don't see much hope.
  16. Hard to believe this guy was ever a top 10 overall prospect in baseball let alone contending for #1.
  17. 424 ft to center on Eloy's bomb: Sounds like he got jammed honestly. He's got so much power in that damn bat.
  18. I'd encourage everybody to use the post ratings more. They are limited but they do help foster community. Again, I'd change them to "Thanks, Agree, Disagree, and LOL". edit: Thanks for the "confused" icon, which is a really useless icon imo because it tells you nothing about the OP or WHY the person reading is confused. If you really want to have a negative rating like that just use "dumb" so everybody is clear. The ratings should basically just be used as shortcuts to typing out a post. I spend way too much time at work on various forums. This one is way towards the bottom (even with the upgrade) as far as user interaction and redundant posts (that exist because there is no "disagree or agree" button). There are ALOT of cases where a simple "agree" or "disagree" button would save a lot of wasted scrolling. The "like" is 80% of the time just an "agree". If you want to keep "like" than just realize people are going to use it as "agree". I do it rather than reply with "+1" or "I agree". It's a shortcut. Again, my opinion only, but there really needs to be an "agree" rating. That's the one I think would help the board the most, especially on mobile.
  19. Oh man, feels like college football season trying to parse the 18-22 year old's tweets!
  20. Yea they have a similar setup except it's a little different when you have the gravitas and resume that Epstein does.
  21. Just heard the news here on 710 in Seattle (he's a former Mariner) and WOW! That's so awesome. Happy for his family and Danny.
  22. Guaranteed Rate is a shitty corporate sponsor. Come at me.
  23. I think that's how they make most decisions but I would just add that I think Hahn has to have the final say. KW and JR have input, but I would expect that the final call comes down to Hahn. Maybe they pressure him at times but I would bet in his contract he has some wording to the effect that he has 100% control on personnel.
  24. Everytime this comes up (that Hahn doesn't have 100% authority) I have to just ask: so why the fuck is he on the job? Why would he risk his entire future employment being the fall guy as the titular "GM" if he's being over-ridden by the owner or KW? Maybe that's the working relationship they have but JR has never, ever struck me as the meddling type. KW sure, but if Hahn doesn't have final say on all roster moves than again I'd ask why he has chosen to be the GM of the White Sox. Maybe he's just a cuck that way, but I doubt it, given his ascendance as one of the younger GMs in the game and his background as a new analytics type.
  25. Not sure what part of "want" and "ideally" you missed in his comments. Hahn always couches his public statements in plenty of caveats. Nothing changed and this was the plan all along would be my guess (if they do call him up).
