  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:54 AM) This is a REAL important time in Juan Uribe's career right now. I think most people around in baseball would definitely say he's among the best 3 or 4 defensive shortstops in the game .... So I still think Uribe is gonna be the starter when it's all said and done, and at some point, he will hit. The only question is when. Good and prescient post there DBAH0!
  2. Jesus, if he could just learn a little plate discipline, he'd easily be one of the most dangerous hitting SS in MLB. He's a good bet for 20 homers every year though, not many SS can say that. He's got his OPS at .702 now, which is actually respectable with his defense included.
  3. WALLACE SIGNS WITH BULLS! 4 YEARS 52 MILLION! Sorry. Had to get that out. Breaking news on ESPN.com
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Sorry, I'll forgive you if you forgive me. I don't make a new thread too often, but I have been here awhile now and love the board and post when I have something to say. I think we should have a reunion in the future and all have a beer. It's all good, and I'll drink to that:
  5. QUOTE(PJBMD @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) It's called hypocricy. It might be called that, but it's spelled hypocrisy.
  6. QUOTE(PJBMD @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) I still don't understand why this poll and thread are not trolling? It says, "these players have done well and these players stink." I find it offensive on a Sox talk site. It does no good to chastise posters and then do the exact same kind of thing with a thread. It also does no good to chatise one and let your buddies slide. If we can't talk about what players have done well and what players stink, we might as just well close the forums. Your opinion is way, way off base here.
  7. It's wierd, right now I have more faith in Garland and Garcia than Buehrle and Vasqeuz.
  8. My biggest disapointment is Garland. I thought he turned a corner last season with his improved BB/9 and better use of his sinker. He can still have a good season, but I was expecting more. My biggest surprise is Thornton. This guy was junk, a scrapheap claim that probably would be out of MLB if the Sox hadn't traded for him on the advice of Cooper. Thornton has performed very well, and he needs to be seeing more high leverage innings. He is pitching aggresively and has confidence in himself. The team is slightly ahead of where I pegged them. I predicted 93-95 wins before the season started. The offense is certainly outperforming expectations, and the pitching underperforming. According to various metrics, the team D is still very good.
  9. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) We're halfway through the season and our ERA has rose like nearly one point since last year. So yes, I don't see it as being overly pessimistic to be concerned about our starting pitching. Nobody is heralding the s***ty way the SP have performed over the last month, but many of us thought that a number of guys--Buehrle, Count, and Garland--had career years last year and that it would impossible to duplicate. So we're not that surprised. KW thought this too, which is why he beefed up the offense. Roll with it, it's a long season and we're just at the halfway mark.
  10. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Please clarify your comments. What is wrong with considering we have some TV heroes? Looking at some of your past comments it seems you like one sentence replies to jack up your post total, but they don't have much positive comment to them if any. I see that we have some bad games to go along with a lot of good games and am just making mention of a real good one that kind of makes it a bit easier to have a bad one. Jeesh, give me a break. During the offseason I had several multi paragraph posts over 500 words on player previews, team previews, thoughts on possible trades, trades that did go down, etc. Besides, everyone knows the game threads are the best for getting up a post count. My point was that I thought AJ was being cast in a Hollywood film. He's not; I'm dissapointed.
  11. Most dissapointing thread title ever.
  12. How the f*** did Polittie pitch so f***ing well last season? His performance has to be among the greatest flukes ever...
  13. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) If we come back to at least tie this, I honestly think the Cubs fans are going to comp-letely lose it. The garbage throwing on the field is going to pale in comparison That would icing on the cake.
  14. The best teams in the league--outside of Detroit--are built the same way the White Sox are: a HR powered offensive powerhouse, middling pitching, and solid if not spectacular defense. Who exactly could the Sox face in the postseason with better pitching outside of Detroit? There are many ways to win in baseball. Pitching is an important part of the equation, but so are offense and defense.
  15. I'm going to smoke some dank and think about Tyrus Thomas and how excited I for college football season...wait, I'm a UM fan...f*** it. I'll just smoke.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Hypothetical? How many threads would ABOZ have created if this outing was a JG outing? When does MB get a clever nickname like Judy? After all, he's the pitcher who allows the truly big innings, and never pitches over the defensive lapses behind him. My god, talk about comparing apples to oranges: maybe when JG has half the career success of MB?
  17. Nah, the Cubs were stealing signs today, that's the only way the great MB could have been touched for 11 runs...
  18. come on DP right here. f***ing Buehrle, what a junk outing.
  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I think if they're going to give Crede a day off, they're better playing Uribe at 3B and Cintron at SS. Ok...
  20. wow, 4 posts in a row on that same line of thinking! I like it
  21. Damn, well Z up to 87 pitches through 5. He's clearly not with his best stuff today, and the Cubs bullpen sucks. I still like our chances.
  22. Alright Paulie, tie this game up. Good AB from Gooch there.
  23. sweet, baker has matched ozzie for s***ty backup lineups. jeez, nobody here, PODS leadoff single.
