  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) If that is the case, I take back what I said. Too many voices right now from management. They should probably speak with one voice. This is of course the downside of having the (imo) stupid FO setup they have where Hahn and KW both share media responsibilities. KW should never ever be doing interviews IMO. That should be 100% Hahn and RV.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) After a few warnings, I'm sure Kenny said something like, 'If you don't dial it back, he won't be allowed here at all." Then LaRoche takes that, and stretches the truth. I'm so sick of LaRoche. Go away. I don't think Kenny or the management staff come off good here either, but LaRoche is a dips*** that doesn't deserve one word of praise over this issue. I think this is exactly what happened. In fact, I think a big issue was having his own locker. I can easily see a few of the newcomers looking around and thinking: "really?"
  3. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) Lyin' Williams https://www.facebook.com/SportsMockery/vide...62134100475984/ Yea, because Adam Laroche isn't lying? I can't stand KW but I'm not going to argue he's lying. We have NO WAY OF KNOWING! The only facts we have are that Adam Larcoche had zero contractual language wrt to his son. That's it. Everything else is heresy.
  4. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) This organization can't function and be successful when it's players do not trust management. IMO KW needs to be fired. Not really, the Jordan Bulls proven that. Talent trumps all. The Sox are going to win and lose this year based on their talent on the baseball field, not some stupid s***. In fact, I'm willing to be once this blows over it might even help them focus on the field.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) I think KW wanted to change the culture and some of the new guys brought in (Rollins Avila Navarro renteria Jackson) were brought in specifically to change aroubd the clubhouse. Some of those guys probably complained about laroche and drake. KW addressed it. I think the "bigger problem" that Sale is referring to is the "new guard" in the clubhouse. IIRC there were whispers that some of the old guys weren't thrilled with the "new leadership" Chris Sale, who wants to win a championship apparently very badly, needs to f***ing realize these guys have won more in their career than himself and Laroche combined. Jimmy Rollins and Alex Avila especially. Those guys could not have been thrilled with what they saw as probably a "country club" atmosphere in the clubhouse and guys descending into cliques. Hate to bring race into it but it does seem like that may have played a roll as well. I have a hard time seeing how any of the Latin guys are anything but amused by this coddling of Laroche and his son. A 14 year old boy, with his own locker, in a MLB clubhouse? I mean Abreu must just be shaking his damn head!
  6. This is where having a strong manager is required and the Sox have possibly the meekest manager in the big leagues.
  7. Laroche is lying it's obvious. f*** him.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Wow, this is the transcript of Sale: Q: What are your concerns about how this affects the team moving forward? A: We’re missing two big pieces to our puzzle, plain and simple. I’m not going to sit here and say it’s going to be the main reason, but he’s definitely going to be missed and we’re not going to get him back. LOL! Someone needs to point Sale in the direction of the Adam Laroche's 2015 baseball card. If Chris Sale really believes that Adam and Drake Laroche are the difference makers then I don't know what to say other than "million dollar arm ten cent head".
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) This could be an additional reason (plus arm angle) why Sale fell to the Sox. And Eaton for that matter, although obviously in different circumstances.
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Will Leitch had some good stuff on the school/clubhouse talk: http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/16800...se-school-drake leitch is the man. Was honored to play on his softball team one summer in NYC.
  11. It's too bad Abreu isn't more of a vocal leader. A certain part of me thinks he thinks this is all absurd. Can you imagine a guy that has been through what he's through with his family having any sympathy for LaRoche? I bet he's like "GMAFB I had to come over here WITHOUT my family and you can't simply have your son out of the clubhouse a bit more often?" Abreu has more perspective on fighting through adversity then any of these coddled US players like LaRoche, Sale and Eaton.
  12. Chris Sale hasn't even sniffed a playoff appearance with the Sox maybe you'd think he'd be a bit more open to changing some of the clubhouse culture. But no, he's just another one of the Sox that seems to think just because something has been one way for a while it apparently can never change. These guys really come across as young twentysomethings when in reality both Chris and Eaton are old enough now, in their mid and late 20s, where they should have matured and realized that in the workplace you have to adjust to change.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Carlos Rodon stands up slowly, looks around...."You're all being p*****s." Sits back down. Puts a dip in. no s***. What a bunch of coddled babies we have on this team. Sale and Eaton are showing their true colors. I'm starting to put a lot more credence in those D-Backs rumors about Eaton. He's a guy that's all happy go lucky when things are going his way but mopes and complains at the first sign of adversity.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 23m23 minutes ago Chris Sale, ripping Ken Williams, on clubhouse access debacle: "If we’re all here to win a championship, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen." Hey, Chris: how about you don't get yourself suspended this year at a critical time of the season because you couldn't control your temper? God, when your best pitcher is this much of a knucklehead it really make it hard to root for him.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Why don't Hahn or Reinsdorf come right out and directly state the language wasn't included in the contract? Because why should they have to confirm the obvious?
  16. This is what happens when you have a rudderless ship. There's no doubt anyof this happens in a Mike Sciosia clubhouse. Chris Sale has the emotional maturity of a teenager, no wonder he's on the side of Drake. What piss poor "leaders" this team has all the way from Eaton and Sale to RV. Thank goodness they brought in more outsiders that have stirred the drink. I hope these guys show up to the park every day pissed off and fired up. It sure as hell can't hurt as the opposite approach hasn't worked.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) If he truly believes that his family is that much more important than his job, no I won't call him selfish. I'd be more likely to call him selfish if he sold out his beliefs for a paycheck. fair enough
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Eh. I won't call him selfish or anything, but I don't get why this is such an unreasonable request. I have no problem with the guy standing up for his beliefs, I just don't get his beliefs. Well his "belief" was detrimental to his employer and his co-workers. If his "belief" was that he couldn't play under a full moon should we not call him selfish? Beliefs can be selfish.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) How dumb are these people to not realize players complained? Jesse Rogers ‏@ESPNChiCubs 7m7 minutes ago Consensus in Cubs locker room re LaRoche is basically players should have been allowed to police the situation no s***, the players did police the situation because unlike last year the club has real leaders. KW simply decided to play bad cop and act as their proxy.
  20. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) He shouldn't have to worry about that. He'll always have his education to fall back on.
  21. Wonder how Drake is going to feel 30 years from now when he's a few million lighter in his inheritance because his pops decided to forgo his last 13 million. I mean, a lot of fathers work tooth and nail, including mine, to give their son a better, easier life than they had. This isn't about what's best for his kid it's about what is best for Adam Laroche. It was a selfish decision.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Wasnt it Jim Bowden the other day who criticized Adam for leaving his wife at a few games? Bowden tore Laroche a new asshole in the most perfectly worded statement. Basically called him out as a hypocrite. Yea, Adam is so dedicated to his family that on numerous occasions someone had to remind that he left his wife at the park. I understand LaRoche has ADHD but FFS how do you forget to take your wife home from the park? Seems like Adam might have been up to something else other than "#familyfirst" those nights.
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Bernstein is saying now that Kenny approached Adam first to try and hint that some players would like it if he wasnt around as much. Trying to slowly move him towards cutting it down. Then when he didnt do that Kenny put his foot down. Go figure. Sox management reasonably asked for some compromise and LaRoche got all salty. LaRoche is the villain here, not KW, not Sale, not Eaton, not Rollins or RV. Just LaRoche. He brought this on everyone. LaRoche is not reasonable. That's not a good thing in business or life.
  24. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Honestly this is great IMO, wake up call. It doesn't have to be a party in the clubhouse where everyone gets what they want and play like crap on the field. Exactly, the beer and chicken s*** only became a problem when Boston wasn't winning. If Laroche had an awesome year, the Sox won big, who gives a s***? But coming off a 76 win season where your big FA signing put up -1.4 fWAR and not expecting management to ask for some changes? GMAFB. Any employee not living up to their salary should be open to their boss asking them to make work/life changes. If I was promised I could work from home but a year into the job I'm slacking off and only getting 1/2 of what I would get done with a regular office schedule of course my boss is going to ask me to stop working from home as it's obviously hurting my performance. LaRoche is just a douche. He pouted and whined and took his ball and went home. Instead of doing what was best for the team he did what was best for him and he did in the worst possible way, trashing the team on the way out.
