  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) So am I the only one to question why in the world Basabe needs to be protected, other than the front office protecting their own assets there? He was awful in A ball. Because he's young and toolsy. This time last year nobody really thought Micker was anything but then he went and had a pretty good season. If Basabe is hitting 220/250/300 as a 23 year old in A+ yea cut him loose but he's got plenty of time to figure things out. Next year will be his age 21 season he's got time.
  2. Why the f*** are they hanging onto Covey? It's puzzling to me why they have invested so much into this guy.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) I'm surprised Guerrero is mad. If he's picked he is in the majors next year, if he's not he's in...the same place with the org he already was in. Isn't the rule 5 draft kind of a favor to exactly these sort of players? I get it from a competitive standpoint -- as a player you want to feel wanted and obviously he gets a nice little pay increase as a 40 man member as well. But yea this really just means he now has a decent shot at being on MLB roster next year.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 05:27 PM) Any chance Saladino is cut by then? Don't see the point in having him anymore when Yolmer does his job better/his back issues Cutting Tyler would be doing him a favor as well. Yolmer is a 1.5-2.5 WAR 3B and so far has been an iron man in terms of injuries. There's no reason not to pencil him in for 140 odd games at 3B next year. With Moncada and Anderson also young and needing reps I'd expect there only to be about 40 or so starts between the three positions up for grabs next year.
  5. Clarkin, really? Nobody was going to pick that guy.
  6. QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) These remain the dumbest part of baseball + a million. So dumb.
  7. Kopech is exciting. The Sox are going to be exciting in the next decade hopefully. You get a true masher like Eloy at cleanup, an ace like Kopech at the top, and an athletic OBP stud like Moncada up the middle and you fill in around them and oh boy the mind can wander.
  8. If you can get a B prospect and a couple C+ guys, especially hard throwing relievers that perhaps Cooper has ID'd, make the deal. If they aren't willing to give that, then forget about it as he'll have similar value at the trade deadline if he hits something like 280/330/460, which he's capable of even with regression.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) Gigante even. Alpha, too!
  10. Nice pic of Eloy in his last LIDOM game last night. He's a big man.
  11. f*** yea, good move. Taking advantage of desperate GMs like Dipoto is smart. Here in Seattle the heat is starting to rise and I think Dipoto is going to triple down on this s***ty Mariners team the same way the Sox did a few years ago.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) Eloy's winter ball coming to an end. https://twitter.com/ChrisKuc/status/930833711322550272 Yea I think the Sox have basically told him to rest up and get ready for late February in AZ. He said in a spanish language interview the other week that he didn't think the Sox were going to let him play too much longer down there.
  13. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 01:57 AM) They mean like if he played in the majors in 2018? Yea, which is insane. For comparison, (and he's a 2B with a decent maybe very good glove so it's not a great one) they think the 22 year old Moncada is going to put up a wRC+ of 98. So they basically think that Eloy is already a better hitter even though he's a year younger. If anybody has the Steamer database link let me know. I'd like to see how Eloy projects against every 21 year old in MILB. I'd have to think he's at the top of the pile projection wise.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Listening through the Chuck Garfien White Sox podcast, Aaron Rowand compared Micker Adolfo's arm to Vlad Guerrero/Jesse Barfield, called it among the best RF arms he has ever seen. Really? Well that's news. I'm not that high on Adolfo but if he's a plus in the OF that raises his ceiling quite a bit. If he's +5 runs in RF than he just has to hit something like 260/320/450 to be a solid starter. I'm just happy he had a good year and is apparently friendly with Eloy. Anything he gives the Sox at the MLB level at this point is a bonus IMO. There's so much other talent in the system we don't need to be putting all our hopes and dreams on a few guys anymore. Also, thanks a lot for your AAP updates.
  15. Steamer came out and Eloy projects to a 262/316/452 line with a wRC+ of 102. Eloy turns 21 in a couple weeks. That's insane.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2017 -> 04:21 AM) HUG WATCH Has the flu apparently.
  17. QUOTE (SouthWallace @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) I fully admit that I have no idea of what the Silver Slugger voting criteria is, but Abreu beat Hosmer in all of these 'Slugging' categories sans Batting Average... Jose Abreu: .304 Average .552 SLG % .906 OPS 33 HR 102 RBI 82 XBH Eric Hosmer: .318 Average .498 SLG % .883 OPS 25 HR 94 RBI 57 XBH So...??? What gives?! Popularity contest.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) 670 The Score‏Verified account @670TheScore 1h1 hour ago #WhiteSox know Eloy Jimenez could force their hand and earn big league promotion in 2018, writes @MLBBruceLevine http://cbsloc.al/2m9Tk6X you don't say...
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 03:53 AM) https://mobile.twitter.com/Gigantes_Cibao/s...3278465/video/1 I can't be sure but it kinda looks like Eloy somehow knew that was going to be a HR. Just a hunch. this kid hits the ball 420+ ft on the regular. Stanton 2.0 http://m.mlb.com/news/article/206023162/cu...-velocity-1194/
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 06:30 PM) Getting used to Eloy being the best player in his league consistently. rep.
  21. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 01:28 AM) Wow. Way to jinx him. Left the game with discomfort, somewhere, according to a translated tweet. must be feeling ok: quinto doble
  22. Let this occupy your mind:
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) Lets hope Rick sticks to his word about not rushing these guys. I honestly don't doubt Eloy couldn't handle it but I'd rather see him in AA even if it's only (likely) for a couple of months to accumulate PA's and experience. AA is probably the biggest jump in the minors. Same with Robert with the A- or A+ decision. Eloy is ready to run. Unleash him in AA for a minute, promote him to AAA in June, and he's in Chicago by August.
  24. I can't wait to see the ZIPS projections for Eloy next year. I can see 270/310/440 which is pretty remarkable for an age 21 projection.
