Thank you Jon for reminding everybody of Covid.

Thorpe sitting 90-91 again. He really needs to put on a couple more ticks this offseason.

look at these clowns celebrating a guy moving his OPS over 300 in July. What a bunch of losers.

it's insane how bad MLB umps are at calling obvious strikes that missed the catcher's target. Robots.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
Tragically the Grimace magic has worn off a bit. Stink of the Same Ole' Mets has returned a bit.

7/4 Games
This kid is the definition of "long levers". Unlike a bunch of our scrubs he's actually got a boatload of physical talent as well as skill.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Crochet is a guy that can single handedly win you two games in a 7 game series by going 14 innings and allowing 1 run. That def has a premium attached to it.

Cease To Padres per Passan
FIP is basically broken in the current hitting environment. For starters ERA still works well enough imo.

The MLB Standings
I have to say I'm sorta enjoying the Central being the best division so far as well. The smaller markets having a good year. Get sick of Yankees, Dodgers, etc.

Sosa discussion
Yea I'd like to see him back at 2nd. He doesn't really have the arm for 3B. Maybe he'd look better on the pivot than trying to stab plays down the line and fire across the diamond. He's not a great athlete so I'd expect an average 2B at best, but it's worth a look before season is over. Get him at least 30 games there once Moncada is back. Lopez should be DFA or traded for a bag of used BP balls.

Sosa discussion
So he kinda sucks at 3B (as reported by yours truly) but if he keeps hitting like this he's got a role. Insane what statcast has as his percentile for BA. We are in a new era boys. If you can hit 280 as a player you are almost assuredly an average regular all things considered. And he's got some pop. Interesting profile, a guy that can probably hit a bit, but isn't a great athlete and probably will need to hit like 280/320/420 to be a solid regular. Honestly maybe he can do it. In today's game if you can hit for average with pop it carries value, it's rare.

West Coast White Sox: The Seattle Mariners and their 2024 season.
Huge rally and win for them today. Sparked by Julio. Even tho I half heartedly root against them it was cool to see Julio lead the charge, he's a helluva player just in a pretty bad slump. For a minute they had a 1 game lead and a negative RD, then Julio hit a solo HR and that really seemed to ignite things. Hitting is contagious.

KW open to returning to baseball
Yea, I will always respect the guy for what he was able to do here. He wasn't the best GM, but he was far from the worst. That said, dude is now 60 himself and I'm not sure he's got anything left in the tank given how long he's been playing ping pong upstairs with Michael Reinsdorf and crew.

They claimed Dock Ellis. Yikes.

White Sox Winner 7/3/24 . Fedde Up !
one of the more promising games of the year really. shame it won't last.

Thorpe pushed back a day
Yea sure I agree but in our case the recieving team would certainly be worried about all that. So the Sox have incentive both ways. I'm fine with how they are handling Garrett. There's no clear science here if his arm feels good, let him pitch. He's built like a fucking sequoia now and has a solid base in everything but prior innings.

Sox at Guardians 5:40 CST (Gavin Williams in his season debut vs. Fedde)
He's holding his own and looks to be developing into that useful utility guy role whenever we get a real team around these parts.

Thorpe pushed back a day
Bro I don't have a side in this fight but it doesn't necessarily follow they'd be juicing Crochet's innings to facilitate a trade. If anything it makes sense to limit his innings as any contender will want to have as many bullets in the chamber as possible the ROS.

West Coast White Sox: The Seattle Mariners and their 2024 season.
Mariners are scuffling big time. They now have the lowest BA in MLB, even worse than the Sox, although the Mariners have more slugging and patience it's no great shakes to be worse than the WS at any offensive category, certainly not for a team that fancied itself a division contender. FG has their playoff odds still at 67%, but division odds down to 57%, was over 70% a couple weeks ago. Only a +4 differential now at 47-40.

Sox at Guards Jo Noah was right about Cleveland game thread 7/2
We're only a sweep away from once again back in a dead heat for worst record ever. I'm confident the Tribe have it in them.
