  1. First guy rumored to be on the cut list we could bring in that would be legit exciting imo. He has had mixed success as a minor league player but his tools and upside are undeniable. Why the heck did the cubs just give him away for JRs favorite return! Oh well could be our gain.
  2. Think I had some Topps "young aces" combo card of Fernandez and Wilson.
  3. Honestly I'd take a flier on him. No point in Colas.
  4. I went to the season opener for the Marlins on a spring training trip for our HS team, back when they still played at Joe Robbie. Charles Johnson did his famous plate to the outfield warmup routine. Still a lasting sports live memory for me. Dude was a freak.
  5. Pretty incredible: Himes built the White Sox farm system, drafting All-Stars Jack McDowell, Robin Ventura, Frank Thomas, and Alex Fernandez in the first round in consecutive years (1987–1990). By late 1990, all four were integral parts of the White Sox. Himes also traded one of the Sox franchise's most popular players, Harold Baines, in July 1989. With the White Sox so far out of the pennant race, Baines and second baseman Fred Manrique were sent to the Texas Rangers for second baseman Scott Fletcher, pitcher Wilson Álvarez, and 20-year-old outfielder Sammy Sosa.[6][7]
  6. Bulls fans and I am one getting excited over another play in is pathetic. You know how much better giddey and matas have to get to just be a 45 win team? Oh and we have to overpay Giddey.
  7. D-. Not clear how he's any better than Hahns last two years. The scouting feels the same to me. The results are even worse.
  8. Ha, yea, I always just want to say lefty with him, it's like his entire profile is poor man's MB.
  9. Well s%*#. Only the Sox could target a soft tossing lefty with a "high floor" and have him completely wash out.
  10. Honestly who cares about guys we ended up not trading for? We made our deals and got the guys we got. Way too early to do what ifs.
  11. Who the hell is Roberts? The year is 2025!
  12. Bold prediction is we threaten our season long futility pace in the first half before becoming a bad but not historically bad team in the last two months to finish around 55-107.
  13. Could be but I figured as it was initially thought to be a a strain it was chipped and something just got lost in translation. Regardless minor issue he won't miss much time.
  14. Avulsion fracture? Meh. Few weeks maybe.
  15. Sure and they were also facing 88mph heaters. Thing about the old days is they the old days. Moncada just has bad luck and is injury prone. Eloy never cared to be in shape imo.
  16. We are in a sad state but congrats to him he will never forget the moment.
  17. Yup on a team going nowhere fast is especially when should be throwing out spring and going by who has performed as a minor league player and find out ASAP if they are AAAA or legit MLB players backups or otherwise. Lets see what we got in the guy.
  18. Personally I think Kopech has too much self awareness for an athlete, certainly for a baseball player. That and I think his lower body injuries were pretty bad and affected his entire delivery. Give me the meat heads that don't think usually.
  19. I think it's better now than it used to be honestly. First three weeks are basically just for the young guys and then the last two are basically just ok time to get semi serious. Prior to like 2018 or so you still had teams pretending vets needed spring as some sort of tune up, at least now they've realized you want to get the youth the majority of the action and the vets are just there to get conditioned and ready to play the marathon of 162. I like that MLB has moved the season up to start last week of March. With global warming you're going to have more and more warmish periods in late March anyways. Yea you'll have more cold snaps but overall it will favor earlier starts and the northern teams will have on average better crowds. Of course if I was emperor king I'd go to 152 games given the new playoff structure (which is fine) and end the season Oct 28th or so, but that's never going to happen. MLB is now a sport that will run into the meat of CFB season and NFL for better or worse.
  20. From Mid Michigan. Don't see many MLB players coming out of there. Hope he can impress.
  21. What's the deal here? Pretty much just a guy at this point? 5th starter / mop up?
  22. Just one year I'd like someone considered a borderline prospect to impress.
