  1. Thing I sorta remember that Kong game, was a fun one.
  2. I'd have called for a suicide squeeze! ?
  3. There's def something to be said for fielding a team of good athletes that hit just enough to get to 2-3 WAR over a season, assuming good health. Sometime circa 2012 the Sox seemed to de-emphasize team defense at the expense of offense -- except the offense didn't get consistently better, the defense and other athletic parts of good baseball just got worse.
  4. That's fair, but I'd still have him bunt. I think there is an 85% he can get one down and I'd have committed to it with two strikes as well.
  5. Yea, Robert is the only guy in the lineup I'd make an exception for in that spot. The rest of these guys can get a bunt down and increase the odds of winning the game.
  6. Eloy has a 118 wRC+ and a 25% K rate and you got folks here describing him like he's one of the best hitters in baseball. He's currently tied for 60th in wRC+. The chances of a game winning hit were 1/4 at absolute best. We have really low expectations for when a guy is *too good* to bunt apparently.
  7. Every single player bunts a few times in the first round of BP. Every day. It takes nothing away from practice time. There is one time when bunting makes sense: needing one run to win in the bottom of an inning with nobody out and runners on 1st and 2nd. It keeps you out of a double play and increases the odds of scoring a run (the only run needed) by about 5%. Takes it from like 65 to 70% I believe. Eloy isn't prime Barry Bonds. Hell, he's not even prime Maglio. Get the damn bunt down, get the guy over to 3rd and win the game.
  8. It was a really bad day that just highlighted all the failures to build a winner. A guy coming in with an era over 6 gives you a shutout quality start, only to have the offense fail to score a single run at home in the middle of summer. Despite that, you have a chance to win in extras but can't execute and lose in predictable fashion -- again, middle of summer, seen plenty of bad offense at this point regardless of pitching. 2nd game just overmatched. You're starting a guy that has no present and no future, and pretty much doing the same with every reliever that enters. Offense might score 4-5, but that's not going to be enough given the pitching depth. A bad team, a bad roster and bad ownership and management.
  9. I like that the EQ guy uses the same preset for this goon as they use for Jason. Jesus.
  10. lol handcuffed on a "sinker up in the zone", this is a AAA production all around.
  11. not much of a pulse around the sox these days, oof.
  12. That could be it, could also just be a big shot newly minted from an under priviledged background flew too close to the sun. Curse, pride, whatever, I'm done with him. He can go figure out his problems on some other team. Everybody needs a divorce at this point. He's been a bottom 5 player in MLB, that's incredible.
  13. i give scholtens credit for battling and at least looking like he'll give us 5 innings.
  14. such a great rip from robert. I wish all our hitters attacked the ball like he did, regardless of if it's a good pitch to hit sometimes.
