  1. Too many posters here project how they would handle things. Thing is, you don't become a pro athlete by being mentally weak or unable to work with people you don't necessarily like.
  2. I don't go all in on bets I have no control over. For all I know the three guys in front of him ostensibly on the depth chart all are hurt by the 3rd week of May. Anyways, I'm moving on, this topic has already been beaten into a dead horse and we are still 5 weeks away from breaking camp.
  3. He'd have to hit like 280/330/470 to be about a 1 WAR backup DH/1B. You can probably get similar from Collins or Yermin. There is zero reason to break camp with Vaughn up. At absolute best he comes up after super 2 is over. The Sox aren't going to add him to the 40 man before then.
  4. Maybe if I was 21 like in 2005 when I created my account ;-). I'm too old for that shit man. And June 15th is moving the goalpost already in your favor. We'll just have to wait and see.
  5. I guess as usual you have no real argument to make so you do your usual guffaw defense mechanism. Andrew Vaughn is going to be in Birmingham until at least late June. There isn't a shred of evidence he's ready to contribute to a contending MLB team.
  6. Seems bog standard fluff from 1st week of full camp to me. In three weeks or so they will be back in minor league camp and off the radar.
  7. Because Andrew Vaughn has never played above high A and didn't exactly light the league on fire? This is just bizarre. I like the kid, he's not Kris Bryant circa 2014.
  8. Zach Collins is the backup DH, 1B and C. People should get used to that.
  9. Jesus no one even responded to my post showing his lack of PA above high A? His shitty projections give the Sox all the cover they need along with his inexperience to keep him down all year if they want. People acting like Vaughn is ready are using what exactly? He will be lucky to be in Charlotte by July. I'd imagine he spends most the year in AA soaking up PA, as he should.
  10. It would be nice to have a legit in house option emerge from somewhere. A few years ago you'd have figured one of the pile of Sheets, Walker, Micker, Basabe and Rutherford would be a decent MLB player. So far crickets.
  11. Lopez was just sent to the IL with whiplash.
  12. @Jack Parkman Be thankful we are not Mariners fans. They are the low rent version of the Sox. That's hard to do.
  13. Yes, and he will not be up before then. It's just...how it's done. Players more talented and ready than Vaughn have gone through it.
  14. I expect Jose to be the opening day 1B and I expect Vaughn to be in the minors until Super 2 passes.
  15. Sounds like Jose had a very mild case. Thankfully.
  16. I'm blown away by how bad that makes Cooper look. We've seen for years that Rodon cannot throw an inside fastball at all. Katz' explanation makes sense. I'm not on the Rodon bandwagon at all, I think his shoulder is basically paper mache, but if he can throw strikes in 20 pitch appearances he'll be an asset out of the pen.
  17. They are cheap. In the worst sense of the word. They are GarPax Cheap. Like they give Jabari 40 million but won't resign Bulter cheap Think of that! That's the fucking Mariners. They sign Cano, a moronic move that everybody knew at the time was moronic even if it sorta worked out (just like Jabari) and then he sucks so badly they have to (luckily) salvage what they can in a trade. And now their CEO (who is a public face out here for their shit ownership group), in a step not even JR or KW or Hahn would be so dumb as to do, disparages their main foreign pipeline, admits service time is a scam, and somehow, to fucking top it off: INSULTS A FAN LEGEND. Come on man. They are a cheap, shit franchise. Even Mariners homers would say that!
  18. I've said it for years: The Mariners are the worse version of the Sox. They share a lot of similarities in management stinginess and FO performance over the last decade. But the Mariners are going to win 75 games this year. The Sox are going to win more, probably quite a few more.
  19. There's nothing to debate for the doomers tho, thats, uh, the problem for them. The team has moved on. Maybe if TA and TLR get in something down the road we can revisit it.
  20. He's fired (well resigned) for being a dumbass. Were his comments "bigoted"? Not in my opinion but it's hard to overstate how important the Japanese pipeline and fanbase is to Seattle. It would be like the White Sox talking shit about their Cuban players. It might be bigoted, might no be -- but even worse it's taking future dollars and potential future players out of the club.
  21. Yea that too. This guy is just a moron that showed horrible judgement. Fire him or have him resign before he says more dumb shit.
  22. Kyle Seager is their equivalent of Paul Konerko or more recently Abreu. Calling him out as "overpaid" was a fire-able offense. You can't fucking alienate your fanbase like that. Imagine if JR called Jose Abreu overpaid. Even if he fucking is, you sure as shit don't say it in public.
