  1. lol, nice edit, was gonna ding ya considering it's all of...February! In general the 40 man types and NRI will soak up plenty of ABs. There's only so many times you can swing a bat per day and all the regulars are getting in a ton of side work.
  2. those are wildly optimistic but hey if Robert is a HOF'er I'll take it.
  3. Nah, I'm just an old head that has seen about two dozen springs. The only stats I care about start in about a month.
  4. I wouldn't give half a fuck and nobody else should either. He's a superstar projected for about 5 fWAR the only thing that matters is coming out on opening day 100% healthy.
  5. I hope Yoan and the other regulars get their work in the next two weeks and then are mostly rested.
  6. Yea I'm ready to fast forward a month. Only injuries can occur between now and then.
  7. Sean out there livin' the dream in Glendale. Thanks. Interesting tidbit on the Madrigal AB. His bat handling ability is starting to take on a legendary rep and he's not even a big leaguer yet. One of the more fascinating profiles of any Sox prospect ever. I still don't think he's going to hit much more than 280/340/380, at least until he fills out around age 26-27 but with good defense and the lineup around him that's plenty for now.
  8. I hope he starts in AA and then in August gets a taste of Charlotte and then is up with the big club next May.
  9. I said the same the other day. MLB.tv could easily be making $9.99 across tens of thousands of fans that would pay for a static home plate feed of every spring game.
  10. 1) He's under 25 2) He's got a little money 3) His career as a player is basically over 4) He doesn't seem to have a great cast around him Those are risk factors for anybody.
  11. Judging by his IG not much except spending the rest of his signing money and being a typical twentysomething. I hope nothing bad happens with him but just honestly he seems like a guy that could go down a bad path with drugs and booze.
  12. Not really a cap guy Cali you'd have to ask one of our resident wonks but I'd say given how fast revenues are rising payrolls of 150 million aren't what they used to be as far as expenditures. 150 million seems like the new 100 million.
  13. The Sox are currently operating like a fairly progressive, smart franchise. That wasn't the case as far back as, uh, 9 months ago when they were still trotting out Yonder Alonso in a rebuild year, with plenty of AAAA types already in house needing a look. They have gained some small amount of trust with myself and probably a few other fans. That trust can easily be lost if they revert to penny pinching or fail to capitalize on the talent they have acquired.
  14. wow that bacon signature is a time warp. can I be 26 again as well? Wow.
  15. I agree and here's how you solve it: 1K fine into the kangeroo court for anybody that slides head first in spring games. At the end of spring if Robert has to buy 10K in drinks and steaks at the finest steakhouse in Scottsdale I think he'll reconsider his slides.
  16. as noted, I'm all for playing hard. In games that count.
  17. I'm all for hustle but do we really need our 3 WAR projected CF legging out a triple in the 2nd spring training game with a head first slide? No, we don't.
  18. It's pretty fucking awesome having McCann as the backup catcher.
  19. Moncada is clearly happy in Chicago and that's necessary to get a deal done but not sufficient. That's where JR comes in with his check book. Moncada is the best young Sox position player since...Robin? (Robin's 92 season at age 24 looks ALOT like Moncada's age 23 season.) This isn't a time to pinch pennies. Pay the man what he's worth.
  20. they'd be giving up leverage even hinting at a deal in the works. So nobody will talk about it. At all.
  21. his agent certainly told him not to talk about ANYTHING contract related in public and to simply answer "that's what my agent is for". not much to take from that quote imo.
  22. vaughn's swing is like a cyborg's. I'm fairly convinced that if vaughn was 6-4" he'd be a top 15 prospect. and in baseball height doesn't really matter despite perception.
  23. took him long enough but he finally look like a pro athlete. dude had twigs for limbs even into last year.
