We appear to perhaps have pulled 4 average regulars out of the pile: sosa, quero, meidroth, vargas. that's maybe 8 WAR between them however sliced, that's not bad. We still have a long ass way to go but we do have a bit of a promising youth movement started now. As we know promises nothing but better to watch than last years team even if the record to this point is the same.

I just said the same thing looking at it. That's the best lineup we've had in the last two seasons, easily. There's some speed, some power, some patience. Not a good lineup but if you squint it looks like somethings resembling a MLB lineup.

IMO this is a good solution for now. Vargas has proven he's more than solid at 3B. He's not just going to lose that playing a couple times a week at 3B and it protects his body a bit. Elko probably is JAG, replacement level, he can go rake back in AAA. The key is just getting that black hole and aura vampire Vaughn away from the team.

For sure but there's plenty of full time catchers that broke in as part time catchers. I just want to see them all get 20-30 PA a week.

IMO wouldn't be the worst idea to let Lee and Quero work in there. Teel imo can stay in AAA until mid summer.

Yea i don't think it's all development. some of it is just scouting. if you had a stop watch or a good scout that never would have occurred. I don't think it ruined his career but it didn't help and he was never going to be athletic enough to play anything other than an awful 1B. corner OF in MLB isn't a spot you can just stick anybody. hell even a guy like Altuve struggles a bit. it takes years to learn how to play the various slices.

Elko is 1 run a week better than Vaughn at 1B. For that reason alone he should be starting all the games there.

Man he should have been gone weeks ago. A negative WAR player in over 4 full seasons ain't going to suddenly turn into a solid regular magically. Vaughn is a bad athlete with a terrible swing from the right hand side. There's nothing there.

Quero needs to get his PA he has nothing left to prove at AAA. Thaiss should be moved for anything they can get while he still is healthy and looks like a decent backup catcher. There's gotta be a team out there that needs one. Our old friends the Royals could maybe use one.

Not being able to find 1 WAR players whenever we've had the stars has been bugging this franchise the entire time I've been a fan. For a long time it was 3B. Now it's RF, granted at the moment we ain't anywhere close to having stars either.
