  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) Wow, thank you for all those suggestions. We are going on a huge family trip (20+ people) so these are some ideas I will relay to everyone else that I am sure some will want to do. We have a huge house right by the beach so I am sure most of our time will be spent at our pool and on the beach lol. But I want to venture out and actually do some other stuff. I appreciate it, I will refer back to this when we are down there. If you have any disputes with adolescent boys over beach chairs, I do not recommend punching them in the face and threatening them if they go to the police.
  2. QUOTE (midway @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) For the past few years, like many others here I have wanted to see an upgrade at catcher...but just maybe we should start to listen what Chris Sale and others on the pitching staff have to say and how they rave about Flowers work behind the plate. Then we need some serious upgrades elsewhere in the lineup, with the bat and the glove, to offset Flowers's weaknesses. Can we afford to have Garcia starting a corner OF spot with Flowers behind the plate? Or Gillaspie/some sort of platoon at 3b? Or youngsters at 2b and SS? If you're going to be Tyler Flowers below average with the bat behind the plate and we also want to compete we can't be Garcia below average in the OF. We can't be Gillaspie/Beckham/Ramirez/rookies in the IF below average.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Is Jose hurt? What's the point of not playing him today otherwise? IF you're going to sit him, sit him with the righty on the mount.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) Pirates are looking for OF bench bats. Wonder if the Sox could talk them into Boni since Boni's style of play fits the NL. Could help the Pirates on the infield while Harrison is down. Boni would cost less to acquire than Revere or Francour. Not something I'm counting on, just throwing it out there. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/pira...-francoeur.html I'm sure they could get him on the waiver wire in August for basically just money if that's what they wanted to do.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) So.. Kromer. God I'm glad we have a new coaching staff. What a group of sad men that regime was. Did something trigger this that happened today or just in general?
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=350711116 Alright Joe. I've seen good pitching. This is not good pitching. This is insane pitching.
  7. I wish I coulda known this game would go like this beforehand because this woulda been worth the pricey tickets. Pirates Cardinals in the 12th.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) ok for this, you made a point. let me clarify again. the hawks had the makings of doing a good run in 14...... bowman was hesitant to pull the trigger on a trade. no one can fault him. hindsight is in play here. all i was saying is damn if you do and damn if you don't. but he wasn't prepared this offseason. i am not ranting against him b/c he didn't do the trade...... he reminds me of Keenan the old hawk coach and gm. he would make these late season trades, trading prospects and picks for vet players. those picks may take 3-4 yrs to develop. the winning in the playoff is now. Read your own words. "damn if you do" = "won a stanley cup." I wish every sports team I'm a fan of could be d*mned if they did based on that standard. If you want to criticize him based on the 2015 offseason I can listen to that. If you want to tell me how he did something wrong in 2014 by not planning for the 2015 offseason you can see my previous answer. Take the Cup and then figure out the next step. You've got a team capable of winning the Stanley Cup, who cares about the next offseason's troubles? The Hawks have followed that rule 3+ times now. Counting the trade with New Jersey last year they've had to follow that rule at least 4 times now, every time they've finished the season they've had to let people go for less than they were worth in order to keep a Cup-ready team on the ice and it keeps working. So yes, they are selling people off from a losing position. They're in a position where people know they need to make trades. And while they're doing that, they've won 3 cups and been 1 overtime away from a 4th. I don't know Hockey, I don't know the exact cap rules, but you start saying that they should weaken the team in 2014 to avoid these kind of problems in 2015 and even I have to get into this against you.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) That article was bogus and you probably know it. Show me some more. Are you honestly going to tell me Hilary has a media problem BEFORE the election? Tell me, "I Balta think Hillary is getting a bad shake from the media and it figures to hurt her campaign." You can't believe that. Sure when she's in office they'll try to nail her to the wall especially if she plays mean with the media. It's going to be hard for her to hide her (allegedly) b-itxxx personality if she gets elected and has to deal with the media daily. Yes, I think she has a media problem...and it's people like you who are the reason that problem exists. People like you who are poised to believe the worst about her no matter what, not because of anything other than how it feels. People like you are way too poised to believe the worst about her based on innuendo and rumor and then ignore the racist rants by the people you're thrilled about for their "honesty", and there's a giant community of media happy to sell you that. They'll look at everything she says with a fine toothed comb and then when your beloved Trump goes on a completely BS rant about how people who look different than you are all criminals you get to just say "oh that's just the media selling Hillary" when he's called on it.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) I want MORE Stanley Cups. And if your rant reads as "they should have made these trades back in 2014"...my answer is simple. No.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 10:41 PM) 4 at 100 ? Did he throw that hard before his injury ? yes.
  12. I know very little about hockey but if you're going to tell me the Hawks should have done something different on the path to assembling a team than won the Stanley Cup because long term it might have improved their roster. No.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) I just don't agree with that article. YES most definitely the media want to bring down Hillary ONCE she is in the oval office as first woman president. They have no interest in bringing her down now before the election. Look nobody can deny the media abhor Republicans. They do not want a Republican president and will make sure Hilly gets the nod. Once she is in, sure they'd love to go after her and finally get her for good. There's no way the media can be considered a problem for Hilly before the election. The media despises Republicans, I'm sure Balta would agree with that. Which of course ignores "Words coming out of the journalists mouths", but anyway
  14. F*** the Cubs and no matter how I feel about this team *$*$ the Cubs *$*$ them $*$* them again. Thanks Chris and strike out everyone on Tuesday.
  15. One of the worst calls you will see all year in the Pirates/Cardinals game 10 minutes ago. 2 strikes on Mark Reynolds. Burnett strikes Reynolds out swinging on a breaking ball with 2 outs. Inning is over. Ump rules that there is a foul tip. Replay clearly shows there is no foul tip. Ball never changes direction, no change in sound, absolutely terrible call, the bat misses the ball by an inch or more. Argument, no challenge. Reynolds homers on the next pitch. Free run for the division leading Cardinals. Should have been inning over with no extra pitch. Cervelli thrown out quickly, Hurdle thrown out after about a minute. Handed the Cardinals a cheap 1-0 lead. Obnoxious. Terrible, terrible, terrible call. I'm glad that didn't happen to Chris today because you'd have heard me B****ing about that in November.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Lol...I can't believe people would actually argue for the second worst player in baseball, but it keeps happening... If Micah had the same number of PAs as Sanchez, at the rate Micah was going he'd have been at -0.8 to -1.0 fWAR too. He'd have had to be better during his second 100 PAs than his first to make a difference, otherwise he'd be the "Worst player in baseball".
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) If you took the bottom 5 AL teams and the top 5 NL teams, and made one 10-team league, and everyone played each other 18 games...9 with the DH and 9 pitchers hit...I think the "bad" AL teams are better. The worst 2-3 NL teams are clearly worse than the worst 2-3 AL teams. Whether the best 1-2 NL teams are better than the best 1-2 AL teams will be decided in October.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Confessions of a Clinton reporter, the Media's unspoken rules for covering Hillary: QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) What words are coming out of their mouths? They are unanimous in going ga-ga over Hillary and her being the first woman president. They speak of the issue as if it's a done deal, which it is. Nobody else has a chance and the journos know it and say it.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) How could any third base coach send Melky on that?? I mean how f***ing dumb do you have to be??? He was barely rounding third for gosh sakes when the outfielder got the ball!! Third base coaches really piss me off at their stupidity. Yeah that was pretty rotten.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) Balta would be a Thibs like manager for baseball. Just run them in the ground. I'll complain at 110 pitches when they don't wear this ****ing color. 8 IP, 0 ER, 126 P for the AS game starter.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 06:14 PM) Hell of a performance by Sale, well done! How about a few more insurance runs. No way it's over yet. No way.
