QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) Although I still want to see these closeups I am pretty sure it may be unimpressive. My eyes are so trained for high def I am assuming we arent going to see a real clear photo of it. The scale bar they're giving is that if it flew past Earth you'd be able to make out the ponds in Central Park.

Thread from 2015: White Sox sign Carson Fulmer

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) i agree. only the sox FO will know what to do. this yr, Rodon was rush b/c of Sale injury and Hector totally falling apart. otherwise i think Rodon would still be in the minors, at least after the ASG. I think they were planning to call him up regardless of how the season started. They waited until they got the extra year before he hit FA and then called him up almost immediately. They'd even skipped a Noesi start before then IIRC, so Noesi didn't really have much time to be terrible. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) The Sox farm system hasn't been overly productive, but it's been a lot more productive than Kenny Williams' trades for those "proven veterans". For the lineup? I really don't think this is true.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) Danks is a starter in name only and a pretty worthless one at that. He's still actually tolerable as the #5 starter (0.6 fWAR). The problem is our offense is so bad that we're relying on the starting rotation to all be hall-of-fame caliber and so "tolerable" doesn't get us there. that plus he's paid way too much for that.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Adam Dunn was better than Sox Adam Dunn prior to his arrival. Who's the last power hitter to actually improve by being on the Sox? Carlos Quentin. Maybe Rios could count too but there was a 1.5 year delay.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) The problem is, is that Hinrich usually gets forced into a bigger role than originally intended because Rose is gaining a consistent history of getting injured for long stretches. I'm generally ok with that and can live with that. He still pulls off the occasional "good game" and I can live with that from the 2nd backup. He just doesn't belong on the court for 1/2 the game in the playoffs when everyone else is healthy.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) Hinriich has been really bad at basketball for quite some time and not a single person would care if the Cavs had signed him as a backup. Frankly, as a Bulls fan I would have been happy because every minute that Hinrich would have been on the court for the Cavs would have increased the Bulls chances of winning. Hinrich isn't a good shooter and he also isn't a good distributor. Hinrich is able to be tolerable enough that I don't mind him playing a few minutes per game in garbage time or on a specific matchup, or being the backup to the backup PG when Rose is injured for a few games. That's somewhat different than 20 minutes + on the court in 3 games against Cleveland and >10 minutes in 5 of the 6.

Q: If a ball is in the air, does a batter have to wait til it lands before taking another swing? Because otherwise timed penalizes you for actually hitting a long HR.

Everyone knows we're less than 2 days from a closeup of Pluto, right?

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) My hope is for them to sell high on Shark for a near MLB ready Catcher or 3B prospect who can rake! This offense is not good enough to win a wild card spot. I wonder what it would take to acquire a guy like Corey Seager?? He has the potential to be an offensive monster and many scouts have him pegged as a future 3B. He is currently defending at SS. Something probably involving chris sale.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) Got to imagine the price tag will gut their farm system. Dombrowski isn't stupid In that case they'll just sign him this offseason.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) The core of the future Sox. Just checked and Sanchez actually hitting a slightly-better ~240-ish since mid June. Not spectacular but he is actually improving a bit. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) EB why Already used Gillaspie and Soto, Abreu you save for if there's actually a tying run coming to the plate, other option would have been Beckham or Shuck. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) What is more disappointing? A two-hit offense or the usual two-runs allowed in the first inning? I hope Abreu has a chance to pinch hit in the 9th and win this thing Hard for me to really get that angry about either of them. Arrieta has really been that good today, he'd be holding a really good offense down, plus the strike zone has been crazy which helps pitchers too. Cubs got a key early triple by a great player and that's the key to the game so far. Only real obnoxious one was the Arrieta HR, but it's currently not the diffrence in the game. Sometimes you're actually just outdone even when your starting pitcher goes 7.2 and gives up only 3 runs. -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Two strikes called balls for Rizzo. yesterday to Rizzo was the first time I've ever seen a ball right in the middle of the pitchtrax, like right in the center of every single box, called a ball. -

Is anyone else seeing "dont drive drunk in Michigan" commercials during the games this weekend? Is this because Cub fans or something? -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) They could do that right now White Sox would have to actually put him on waivers. The way it would work right now IIRC they'd be on the hook for his full salary if he passed through waivers unclaimed.
