  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Conor must be banged up, as that makes no sense. He's swinging as well as anyone the last week. That lineup is simply awful though. the team wide flu maybe?
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 8, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) General lesson across the entire political spectrum... if your "side" on an issue is actively looking to have less or as little information as possible on that topic, that should tell you you're on the wrong side. Seriously, who thinks the best approach to ANY policy is to ignore all data on the topic? How ignorant is that? You want to argue against what it means, that makes sense to me even if I disagree. You want to question the validity of the science, well, I think that often is just an avoidance technique, but at least you're willing to look at the information at all. You want to say maybe we shouldn't be spending tons of money we don't have to chase the problem, I definitely get that. You want to point out reasons why the picture may not be as clear as science is making it, please, fire away. But to just stick your fingers in your ears and say LALALA I DON'T HEAR ANTYHING? Sorry, but you are an ignoramus and should be ashamed of yourself. The good news is that we haven't had any major earthquakes around the world recently that had large, international emergency responses so we're certain there's no other use for satellite data.

  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) It isn't that simple. You are implying they "tuned" the manager out, no one is saying that, and you have moved the goalpost once again. If you really want to know the truth, Robin probably didn't even run the drills. Just because you take 10,000 grounders doesn't mean you will be gold glove calibur unless you are just "tuning"out your boss. But when the manager tells you to hit the cutoff man, you work on hitting the cutoff man, and then you throw the ball to home and let a guy go to 3b because you threw home instead of to the cutoff man...

  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) I don't know where you would read that, but it isn't the first time what you appear to be fact has nothing to do with reality. "The manager had them work on this a ton but they tuned him out so badly that the result is they're struggling with the things on the field they were supposed to be practicing". Either that or "The management thinks this is important, tried to make people work on it, and they flat out didn't listen".

  9. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2015 -> 07:34 AM) Well, if he is one and done, Purdue could be better than MSU next year. And MSU will still somehow wind up at least in the elite 8.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Don't want to start a new thread to ask this, so I am going to ask it here.. How do you block a poster? Click on the poster's name, a pull-down menu should appear. Go to that member's profile. On that page, in the left hand column, look for another pull-down menu. Underneath that menu "ignore poster" should be an option.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2015 -> 08:45 AM) From Whitesox.com, they are concerned about the defense: In reality, the White Sox are concerned but not worried about the 10-15 start. They put in the extra work during Spring Training in areas of the game where they are currently struggling, paying specific detail to baserunning and defensive fundamentals on the back fields of Camelback Ranch, as examples. But as Williams pointed out, a team never knows what player is going to struggle in Spring Training and then hit .400 to start the season or vice versa. It can play out the same way in certain areas with the whole team. There's a definite desire for continued improvement. Williams mentioned defense as his primary concern expressed during a Tuesday front-office meeting, but he doesn't have as much concern with the struggling starting rotation or the offense that came to life late on Wednesday. I'm amazed that you'd so directly state that the team's leadership has lost the players.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) The cartilage is gone in his knee. He wont ever be "healthy" again Mirotic? How did that happen????
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Also for tomorrows game: Noah needs to absolutely have a shorter hook to get Niko's mismatch abilities in there. He can drag TT out to the 3 point line and abuse Perkins/Miller/Jones when they're at the 4. Snell needs some burn if Brooks isn't on fire from the start. Snell can at least defend Smith, which we'll need. I think Thibs has made it pretty clear so far that Niko isn't going to get much burn in this series.
  14. QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) Sox need to trade Carlos Sanchez soon while his value is sky high to fix one of the many problems they have (3B, SS, C, SP) ?
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) It just shows you today's attention span of people. Only diehard fans will stay after the 3 hour mark. Once it hits 10:15 on a night game, forget it. it's still a school night too, I won't blame parents for that one.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Well, this is depressing. EATON, WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO THROW RAJAI DAVIS OUT AT HOME????? Hit the cutoff man, stop the runner from getting to 3rd. IDIOTIC. This keeps happening over and over and over again. Bah, that's the kind of thing only silly teams practice.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) We should have a poll (which the moderators) would never approve, but it would be an entertaining discussion. Which of the following coaching combinations would lead the White Sox to the best record (if Robin Ventura was replaced by)?: 1) Dick Allen (you can name your own bench coach) 2) Fathom and Balta (just because I like his politics the most of the mods, lol) 3) A combination of two of ANY two of the remaining mods 4) Jake and Brian (the movie/tv team) 5) Kyyle and Northside 6) the rest of the field of non-mods (I'll name LDF and Greg775 for my co-coaches and we can party at Applebee's after games) 7) flavum and Greg Hibbard, because there'd be lots of optimism and theoretical record projections mixed in with cliches for post-game press conferences I vote 2. Ha, something tells me I might not have the emotional temperament to connect with a series of athletic males in their 20s. Klingon profanity just might not get through.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2015 -> 05:50 PM) FOX Sports: MLB ‏@MLBONFOX 3m3 minutes ago Manny being Manny?! Pedro Martinez says Manny Ramirez used to spike team drinks w/Viagra --->http://foxs.pt/1Qo0fy1 Is that a good masking agent too?
  19. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 6, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) I thought it was technically international waters that Iran keeps trying to claim as its own. The Strait of Hormuz is 21 miles at its narrowest point and generally a nation's territorial waters are expected to extend 12 miles from the coast by my reading, so at the narrow point any shipping lane must traverse through either Iran or Oman's territorial waters. The international shipping lane in the middle is generally accepted but it must traverse the waters of one of those 2 states.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Thompson didn't even get a September call up in a lost 2014 season. Has that much changed in a month of baseball? I doubt it. Honestly I think if an OF got hurt, you'd probably see Sanchez still get a call up, with Shuck/Bonifacio getting most of the PT in the OF. There is also a non-zero chance that Leury Garcia would get the call up as a guy who has more flexibility for the roster. Thompson absolutely did not deserve a callup in 2014 after a full season at AA and right now he's in AAA playing like a guy who you wouldn't mind giving a callup to in a pinch. At a higher level to boot.
