  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Sadly, most or all probably disintegrated. If that's the case, or even a portion of them are gone for that reason, this event would rapidly become one of the deadliest industrial accidents in US History.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Started work this morning at 4:30 and have been following. I'm shocked they haven't found him. How could a 19 year old out smart the FBI and law enforcement? He had to have gotten out of this particular area before the dragnet came down.
  3. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) I can't believe they let this guy get away. Anyone curious what happened exactly after the shootout, when he fled in the SUV running over his older brother? How did they lose him then? The briefing officer just said that at the time of the shootout last night they didn't have the manpower in position to both deal with the first aid issues and to establish a perimeter.
  4. State police briefing: "We're going to draw back our tactical teams." Makes it sound like they're pulling back on the search inside the perimeter. Will keep police on the streets in the area but are declaring that the intense search missed him.
  5. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) getting close to clearing all the quadrants
  6. NBC reporting that there are currently still 60 people unaccounted for.
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:26 PM) i wonder if the guy is still wearing the white hat. If he's going to remain on the run for more than a day or so he needs a haircut somehow.
  8. Who'da thunk that the world would suddenly care so much about the ramblings coming through over police scanners?
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) "confirmed white hat" on scanner Hopefully not yet another false alarm Is that a code for something, or is anyone in Boston wearing a white hat now a suspect?
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) What happens when they get 100% done with Watertown and don't have him...I'm really surprised he's lasted this long without capture. I guess it's possible if he was wounded that he's bled to death somewhere. Or even just killed himself. You also have to think about the fact that he needs food and sleep too, he's probably been up for almost a day and a half. How do you actually become 100% done with searching a city of 30,000+ inhabitants? Serious Q...even if everything is shut down, it's always possible to find places to hide. But really, the answer is, the net will get wider with time, there's a decent chance he's already found a way to flee.
  11. Well, that seems like a good reason for the city to have mostly shut down.
  12. I kept saying the whole offseason that the guy they were talking about wasn't the guy i saw in BHam last year.
  13. Jeter has re-fractured part of the injured bone, he will now be out until at least the AS break.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:59 PM) Uh what? The smart thing to do would have been to immediately leave the country and never look back. Why would any suspicion be drawn to 2 people who were legally in the US, with no prior criminal history, who werent even considered suspects to start? When those 2 track kids were being arrested, these guys could have walked into any police station in America and no one would have even blinked. They had no heat and this is not the sort of crime that authorities were just going to raise their hands up after a few days and go "Well we give up." Every second that passed was a second closer to them being caught. Any other belief on their part was absolute delusion. These guys could have gotten out of the country but for their own stupidity. How scary is that. Link. Might have something to do with why they didn't immediately flee.
  15. "I sparred with this f***ing duche bag [sic] many times."Link
  16. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) Originally from Chechnya, but living in the United States since five years, Tamerlan says: "I don't have a single American friend, I don't understand them." Tamerlan fled Chechnya with his family because of the conflict in the early 90s, and lived for years in Kazakhstan before getting to the United States as a refugee. Tamerlan says he doesn't usually take his shirt off so girls don't get bad ideas: "I'm very religious." Tamerlan says he doesn't drink or smoke anymore: "God said no alcohol." A muslim, he says: "There are no values anymore," and worries that "people can't control themselves." He also had a section of his youtube titled "Terrorists" He also apparently spent several months in Russia in 2012, from ~January to ~June.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Why? I was thinking the same thing re: getting out. I realize the photos weren't out for a few days, but did they really think no images would come out? And yes, once they are out, you rob a convenience store for a few bucks? One guess is that they legitimately thought no one would figure out who did it and then panicked last night right after they saw their photos on the news. Tried to get away, fill up at a gas station, see a guy in uniform...
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) I agree. I just don't think the government does. It's obvious the previous administration didn't agree, but I don't think the current one does, either. I think they absolutely believe it works, and their actions say as much. And I believe it's still going on, just under deeper cover. Although you can apply deserved skepticism since they don't have subpoena power, it is worth noting this part of their public statement associated with the report:
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) CNN still insisting the guy is in contact with people through social media or other means, don't know if they are still talking about a fake twitter account or what. There are several fake twitter accounts currently running with these people's names, not surprising that CNN would get fooled repeatedly by them.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) I agree, it says it all as far as I'm concerned. But that goes back to my original point...for all the proof it doesn't work, why does the government appear in almost every regard to believe it does? You've answered your own questions. Some of them are sociopaths. I feel fine in applying that word to the people in the previous administration who started, arranged, and ordered this program. Others just go along for the ride since they know they will not be prosecuted. Some are just people who get caught up in the situation and are unwilling and unable to say no. That's a long standing psychological phenomenon as well...people will follow the sociopath when they are trained to do so.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) So Obama and his cabinet aren't against torture? I was pretty sure they are outwardly against it and have said as much. They issued an "Executive order" against it but then chose not to pursue prosecutions. I think the "not pursuing prosecutions" part says an awful lot to me.
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) Oh, I know, but when the highest people in power are against it, why aren't they getting rid of it? For all their talk, it seems to still be rampant throughout all levels of the government involved in terror. I'm just pointing out that they while they say it doesn't work, the actual actions of the government say otherwise, because they're still doing it. When did this part happen?
