  1. I know it won't happen, but I'd love to see Indiana come out and just smack Ohio State down and put them away early in the 2nd half here. I'm just tired of watching the opponent slowly fighting back as the 2nd half goes on. But yeah, that's the big 10 for me.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Didnt the Bulls almost sign him before getting Korver? Yes. They signed him to an offer sheet as a restricted FA and the magic matched that offer, retaining him.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) I wonder what the Bulls would have to give up. Would they take Rip plus a draft pick or something in a salary dump? Reddick would be a nice fit. It would take Rip + another player for the Bulls to stay within the hard cap they get hit by...but Reddick is a Free Agent at teh end of the year, so there's no real salary dump that can happen.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 10, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) Being in a profession based on science we don't get into religious issues much at the workplace. However, there was an interesting one the other day. The topic of homosexuality came and and one of the researchers said it is an "abnormal behavior." The questions was brought up as why. She replied if all animals were meant to be homosexual there would be no species propagation and they would cease to exist. It's not wrong because there are different behaviors ion all animals but it isn't the norm. I never really looked at it that way and still haven't figured out the concept in my own mind. The real trick is getting people to associate a negative connotation with "Abnormal". People with blonde hair are abnormal. In this country, black people are abnormal.
  5. QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) I honestly wonder how long the Sox will play at the Cell? Obviously they won't move to a new park as long as Reisndorf is the owner, and however long the lease is on the place. This will be the 22nd season for the park, maybe another 20 years? By then I imagine it'll be one of the oldest parks in baseball (who knows what will happen to Fenway and Wrigley) Google suggests that their lease runs through 2029. The Sox pay such a low rent on it that the only ones who legitimately want to renegotiate the lease agreement is the state. I'd expect that in 2029 they'll probably be pushing for a new park as the lease ends.
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) Do you think the guys like playing for Robin? I think he earned some respect by how well they were prepared coming into last season. Like? Harder to tell.
  7. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 02:42 AM) Just got back from the Bulls game. What a blast! Boozer came up huge in the 4th. Quite a few Bulls fans there; a lot more than when I saw the Bulls here in Rose's rookie season. Beaten senseless by the Nuggets last night, beating a Jazz team on a roll the next night. Such a hard team to figure out.
  8. QUOTE (YASNY @ Feb 9, 2013 -> 02:15 AM) A calm demeanor is not a misdemeanor. I'd say that Robin making the team take infield during the season and his diligence on fundamentals in ST are very strong signs that he's 100% invested. His next task is finding a way to avoid a late season collapse. And maybe playing .500 ball against the Royals and Tigers.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) We did? Castro was definitely a bust when we acquired him. Former top prospect who got crushed when he reached AAa.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 06:05 PM) Julian Assange on Bill Maher tonight. Is he still trapped in the Ecuadorian embassy?
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) With the national contract, every team is getting an extra 25 million a year starting in 2014. A quick googling suggests that the Mariners have an out clause in their TV deal following the 2015 season. So, if they could put together a winner before then...they have a shot at some serious money there too.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) Still, this sounds like what the Twins did with Mauer (except that they were good before). That has turned into an epic disaster. This isn't to say Mauer is ineffective (quite the opposite) or that the Twins won't be good (because they can get back there), but not having that contract on the books would make it a hell of a lot easier. In this case...it might well depend on their revenue projections. With the TV contracts coming up, it could be a helluva lot easier to afford a contract like this over the next 7 years than the last 7.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) Add Jhonny Peralta to the growing list of names coming out of Miami. Some seriously wild swings in performance...that kinda makes sense.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 09:31 AM) Two is huge. Have they beaten anyone away from home? I feel like all their big wins this year are at home. We'll get to find out this weekend.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) The Sabermetric way of doing things trumpeted by guys like Theo and Billy Beane looks more and more like a great cover for PED usage. One of my favorite lines in Moneyball, paraphrased, talks about how a kid might grow into power, after all, Giambi did it.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) Assuming AAA doesn't catch up with Sanchez. Even if it does, he's so young that 2 years in AAA would only seem like a failure if the big league team really needed him.
