  1. QUOTE (TomSeaverFan @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) I have $1,117 dollars in my wallet right now. Does that make me certifiably insane? Being poor as a kid I've always wanted to carry a lot of cash around as an adult. I'm far from rich but I think I have some sort of mental illness that requires me carrying around a lot of cash. I wonder if there is a name for people like me. Searching for your IP address, finding where you live, getting binoculars to follow you....
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 05:09 PM) Yeah, it's pretty horrible to force women to undergo an invasive and unnecessary medical procedure under the paternalistic and misogynistic assumption that the woman hasn't already thought this over. You don't need a wand shoved up your crotch in order to take a pill. Basically, this is a - if you want an abortion, we're going to make it as invasive and humiliating as possible, oh, and more expensive, too! edit: it's a transvaginal because that's the only method of performing what the bill would require at that stage of pregnancy. They've just gotten slightly more creative after realizing how bad it sounded to mandate the specific procedure.
  3. So yeah...this happened. "My son was murdered" -> "You need some straight talk". - > "Crowd cheers". Well, I'm glad someone was there to give her that lecture. Otherwise she might still feel bad about her son being murdered.
  4. Congrats Indiana. Your state legislature is now considering the transvaginal ultrasound abortion-punishment bill.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) And then how do you replace Sale's production in the rotation? We're talking about an ace-caliber pitcher here. I completely understand being concerned about Sale's health, but he's nearly impossible to replace given our free agent policies, weak farm system, and our typically low draft position. IMO, an ace is the most valuable player on a roster and trading one away, even for a player as talented as Stanton, is at best a neutral proposition due to the guaranteed down-grade at the top of the rotation. Therefore, I'd take my chances on Sale staying healthy. If given the option between a top flight pitcher and a top flight position player, i'll always go with the pitcher. The only reason to make this deal is if you're really scared about Sale's elbow blowing up.

    2013 TV Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 01:32 AM) Was it discussed in here that Hanks and Spielberg are going to be producing a 3rd series for HBO set in WWII? This one is going to be focused on the air war against Germany. I'm looking forward to this already as Band of Brothers is probably my favorite series/show that has ever been on TV and The Pacific was also fantastic. Cool. I certainly won't complain about them continuing to feed at that trough.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) I don't get it. Sorry, I wasn't here this morning to get it on behalf of everyone. May whatever God you believe in have mercy on your souls.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 11:33 AM) Assuming no extension, all players except Sale. With an extension in the works, I'd probably include Sale in the discussion if necessary. Basically, from our system, it would be Sale or no deal.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 06:36 PM) That doesn't change what I said. I'm just going to temporarily enjoy cheering for a team with media coverage to the point that its players are becoming overrated frontrunners.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Yeah, I don't know why everyone just didn't scrounge up some of their excess capital to re-invest when it hit 8,000. Because there was a reasonable chance that the government wouldn't act strongly enough and the world would effectively implode?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) If he's only going to last short term, I'd rather get out of him what we can. Were not exactly talking about Josh Hamilton with the bats here. 2 months of a replacement level player dealing with back problems isn't something to write home about.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) Windows Security Essentials is a pretty common virus/malware. Doesn't mean a message can't be made to look like its coming from it.
  13. QUOTE (balfanman @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) If Brent Morel hits 450 in Spring Training and demonstrates that his back is fine I would hope that he is the 3rd baseman for this team. If he is going to have reoccuring back issues then no thanks. Spring training health will not convince me that his back issues will not recur. That's why I would prefer him everyday ing it for a good log time before the big league team even thinks about a callup.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) I think most players who are young like him will him would publicly back the veteran when asked. There's almost no way you can sound bad in deferring to the veteran, and its really easy to sound bad if you try to talk up how you deserve it. Management won't care what his answer here is, they'll have him start the opener unless he isn't ready or they're setting the rotation for something.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) 2001 Frank Thomas going down early didn't help. That season was a debacle.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) If he hits like we thought he could when he came up, he probably is the starter at 3rd, and Keppinger get used as a super utility guy who plays 5 out of 7 days a week or so. I'm the guy who kept defending him, and I have no urge to see Morel as a starter in the bigs any time soon. Hitting .450 in April wouldn't be enough to convince me unless someone gets hurt. Give him more than a short time at AAA to both feel healthy again and to try to get his swing in order.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) Sounds like they are going to see if Morel can still play SS (he played some in college). That could change things. Interesting, hadn't seen that. If he could stay healthy and start hitting like he did before he got called up that could move him back into the big leagues later this year.
  18. @scottmerkin Trayce Thompson giving high marks to Danks in his first BP in the cages. One of the hitters who faced him.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 10:19 PM) Computer guys, Pretty sure I have a trojan on my computer. I have Windows Security Essentials, AVG, and another malware protector. They seemed to have caught the trojan and the computer is operable, not really affecting too much performance, etc. The issue is that every 10 minutes or so Windows Security Essentials gives me a little pop up window that says "detected threats are being cleaned, no action necessary." Until today I had never seen this pop up. If I open it up, I see that it keeps listing out the same trojan every time that has come up, so it has it every few minutes and says it's been removed. Besides it being annoying to have that pop up window, I feel like it means something is obviously still wrong. I'm not a computer guy by any means so I want to figure out how to clean everything out and get rid of whatever's there. A friend had me restart in safe mode and run full scans of Windows Security Essentials and my malware program, as he said that might get rid of it because it's tough to do it when the computer is running like normal. However it seems to still be "there" now that I'm back in normal mode. What are my next steps? The guy said Norton Antivirus is the best out there, if I have to buy it I'll do that, if that's what can fix it. If there's something else I can do or download to try to help, I'm all ears. If I can't do anything but bring it to Geek Squad (or somewhere else?) or something, then I'll do it. Just not sure how to go about it now. Thanks for any help - Is it possible that the "Windows Security essentials" popup is a spoof showing up from some program that is running in the background? I've seen things that will fake alerts like that before.
  20. Ok, kinda cool: @whitesox Got questions for #WhiteSox Ace, Chris Sale? Dial 1-877-229-8493, and use the pin 18912, at 1 pm CT for the chance to ask Chris a question!
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales Thornton says elbow pain doesn't compare to 2010: http://trib.in/13gkXWi @MDGonzales Thornton said he'll resume throwing in two days.
  22. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) Agreed. Seeding will big to see how things play out. One team that scares me for some reason is Syracuse. Florida should scare me, but doesn't really. Maybe even Pitt. I'm just hoping Wisconsin doesn't wind up in the Midwest Region.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 19, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) Yeah, the Rule V pick and Morel are ahead of him for sure. Probably Carlos Sanchez too. If one of the everyday players goes down this is probably true, but for bench depth...I think its Gonzalez.
  24. Huh? So last year they gave away 100k tickets, but they don't anticipate doing so this year, so for some reason they're comparing total attendance with projected paid attendance?
