QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Romney was/is the easiest for the messiah to beat because health care (regardless of one Justice Roberts) is off the table with him and everyone knows it. That's 40% of the election issues that Romney cannot debate. Now Obama gets 50% of the remaining 60% of the welfare state handout recipients and he wins "in a landslide". You haven't answered my question. Which of the candidates opposing Romney in the primaries was even close to a reasonable contender? Romney was the weakest candidate...except for all the other pathetic candidates.

QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Just tuned in. Can someone tell me why Liriano came out after 72 pitches? Thanks. Took a line drive off the leg, pulled with a bruise after finishing the inning. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) The guy gets used every single day. Might as well not put him on the playoff roster since he'll likely have a dead arm by then. Today's Jones's 41st appearance. Reed has been in 42, Thornton in 51. Today is Isringhausen's 39th game they just said. Jones is on pace for about 60 appearances this season. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) Jones getting overworked like crazy. No one up in the pen...crazy! We've had 2 10 inning games the last 2 days after short outings from the starters. We need 2 from Jones here. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) Just woke up from a nice Sunday nap. Why was Liriano pulled from the game? Is he going to be ok?? Also, and more importantly, I saw the play where the ball dropped in between our 3 defenders. I CANNOT believe anyone else hasn't noticed this, but ever since Alexei & DeAza ran into each other there have been SEVERAL times where Alexei has pulled up on balls for fear of getting into another collision. He ran right PAST that ball, and could've had it but pulled up for fear of another collision IMO. This isn't the first time he's done this either, I recall another game where he did this against the Twins I believe a few days back. Liriano took a ball off the leg and was pulled with a bruise. Ice it and he shouldn't have any issue a week from now. -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) he is saying that the media gave Mittens preferential treatment in the primary, as he would be the easiest for Obama to defeat in the general. Now the media will go 100% attack mode on Romney, and praise Obama. Yeah, great, I get that he's saying that. Which of the vaunted competitors for Romney in the primaries would have been this remarkably strong candidate? Rick "I forgot which cabinet department I want to get rid of" Perry? Michelle "McCarthy" Bachmann? Herman "hmmmm, Libya...Libya..." Cain? Rick "Google problem" Santorum? Newt "I don't need a funny name to tell you how bad he is of a candidate" Gingrich? Donald Trump? Ron Paul? p.s. When the "Obama coverage" remains just about as negative through the end of the race, which it will except for the week of the convention because he is the incumbent, it won't even be worth noting, because you know in your heart the media want Obama and nothing can change that.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) I hope we can trade Beckham and Tank this off season. I want players with a high OBP who can also play great D So basically, the only guy on our roster you like is De Aza? Rios, doesn't walk. Dunn, bad D. Konerko, no Range Beckham, low batting average Viciedo, doesn't walk. Youkilis, great OBP, weak on defense Alexei, doesn't walk AJ doesn't walk. -

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Over the past year, of course. The media had a vested interest to get the weakest candidate they could to run against the messiah. Now, they will turn on him like a pack of rabid dogs. Which is why Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Herman Cain are the nominee. Because Romney was so weak compared to them. Funny.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) I'd rather we just score 3 runs and make them pull him. He's got nothing out there, he's just taking advantage of a bad approach by Sox hitters today. He's doing a solid job of spotting a very wide outside corner. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Six starters is a horrible idea for a team in a pennant race. This is the inevitable result of the fact that "being surprisingly good" has caused us to skip the rebuilding season of the rebuilding process. -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) I think I understand the sentiment you're going for here, but this would open way too big a can of worms/be damn near impossible to implement. If I go out and start buying up fertilizer, it won't be long before the FBI is at my doorstep. If I buy a 6 month supply of Claritin D, the police will pay me a visit. In both of those cases, they'd probably do a medical records check. If I go out and buy 6000 rounds of ammunition, large volume magazines, semi-automatic military-style assault weapons, handguns, and full body armor, no one will know anything about it or ask any questions until I use it. Hell, I could pay cash at a gun show and make sure there's no paper trail. No one will stop and ask if I'm in the care of a mental institution or capable of making decisions about using that equipment. You can't tell me that we can't do better than this.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) I just read an article from a major news outlet about the impending landslide election. Don't you think the liberal media would do whatever it could to keep Romney from making this a race? I think Romney is disgracefully bad candidate, but still you can see how the liberal media would never let their man lose. Mention the world "landslide" enough and any Romney supporters out there will just stay home that day and not even bother to vote. The media is not liberal and they do not have an agenda to get Obama elected, and the fact that you just simply buy that because people repeat it is absolutely laughable. This will not be a landslide election. For one example, Pew keeps track of what they consider positive and negative stories about each candidate. Romney's coverage has, for the last year, been much more positive and much less negative than Obama's. Romney's coverage has been more positive than negative for almost the entire year save one stretch in early February when Santorum was coating everything, while Obama's coverage has been more negative than positive for the entire last year. This isn't unexpected for an incumbent, but it belies any concept that the liberal media is in the tank for Obama.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) You'd think they would be playing women's beach volleyball. I really hope NBC doesn't have the Olympics next time. NBC Signed a contract in 2011 to broadcast the olympics through 2020.
