QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:55 PM) If he can leg out a triple (you could see him turning at least into a 2nd gear round 1B on the replay), then maybe he'll be okay. If nothing else, you have Hudson and Escobar behind him still. Not ideal, but it would be pretty amazing for him to come to a new team (and an easier division) and put up less than a 500 OPS. I don't think the division or his mental state has anything to do with his performance. If he's healthy he's going to find a groove quickly. If his body just isn't strong enough or is too broken down, then he'll continue to be Brent Morel bad as he has been the last couple weeks.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) Agreed. Worth a shot, right? Just to point out...if they did that already, we wouldn't know it unless the kid said yes.

Corporate profits are at an all time high in this country. Wages are at an all time low.

If Molina is going today, normal rest would be Friday for him right? Fireworks that night.

Genetically modified grass in Texas starts producing cyanide, maybe some unexpected mutation, starts killing cattle.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) He'd go back to Charlotte at that point. I'd figure Bruney would be gone first, and then I'm not sure what happens beyond that.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) All I want is ohman replaced if Danks is healthy come deadline time. Ohman isn't exactly a starting pitcher? Axelrod would go back to the bullpen if both pitchers came back.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Who plays first base after they pinch run for Paulie late in the game now? Kevin Youkilis.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) There is some b****ing he is too old. If it counts, I'm the most skeptical, just not sure he's healthy based on his numbers this season. It's totally a reasonable risk given the lack of anything from 3b this team has gotten this year. I'm just not handing Youkilis the 5th spot in the lineup until he shows that he's actually healthy.
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) I think your should hit in front of him tbh. We all know his .obp is going to be higher and viciedo isn't exactly setting the world on fire either Hell, the dude had 4 RBI yesterday and was a big part of a win. I'm not dropping him in the order for a guy hitting .225 right now. If he comes out and hits like healthy Kevin Youkilis, then in a week I'll agree and in 2 weeks he'll be hitting 5th.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:09 PM) Flip Youk and Rios due to OBP. Rios's OBP this season is 25 points higher than Youkilis's.
-
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) DeAza Beckham Dunn Kong AJ Rios Youk Tank Alexei Viciedo doesn't deserve the demotion and Youk doesn't deserve to hit in front of him. Yet.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:04 PM) Does Kevin have a Gold Glove? is he decent defensively? We don't have to make any more 25 man roster changes. Kevin U in, BSBridge out. Doesn't Boston want some Fu-Ku? When healthy, Youkilis was "average" at 3b and a really good 1b. He hasn't been healthy this year so his 3b play hasn't really been anything to write home about. You're getting him hopefully for his bat, and hoping that playing 3b doesn't kill his body.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) Our 3B have hit .168 this year. Even horribly average performance will be awesome. The one thing that worries me is that outside of 10 days in late may after coming off the DL, Youkilis has been horribly bad. But if he's motivated now to prove people wrong, and he's actually feeling good...let's see him bring it.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) So is o-dawg gone? No and there's no need to move him, he's now in Lillibridge's role as utility IF guy.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) Rogers; Ken Williams on trading for Kevin Youkilis: "We just felt at this time it was necessary, necessary to do it at this point, sooner rather than later.'' Williams says Youkilis was excited about the trade when he spoke to him. Said Williams: "I can't say exactly what he said. He wants to prove some people wrong ... He said he hasn't felt this good in a long time ... He has a little edge to him. I'm excited to have him on our ballclub.'' The Red Sox agreed to pay most of Youkilis' remaining salary in exchange for Zach Stewart and Brent Lillibridge, who they hope can contribute to their push to get to the playoffs. Ok great Youk, you've got me as one of your doubters. Prove me wrong and this team winds up in the playoffs.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) My ideal spot for Youk is in between the Cubans. Break up the free swingers. Also not great to put him in the 9th spot because then he slows down De Aza's speed game any time he's on base. 8th is a good place to start, and if he suddenly starts hitting like 2 years ago, then move him on up.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) With the way he's hitting, you'd have to hit him either 7th or 8th. An interesting thought would be to hit him second. He's got the on base skills to thrive in that role. Beckham's hitting well in that role so he can stay there for now...couple more hits from him today. You start Youk in the 8th/9th spots until he shows you he can do something other than walk. If he keeps hitting .150 there, then in 3 weeks we'll be trying to trade for another 3b.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Jose Quintana is the most interesting man in the world. When he gives up hits, they're not consecutive. SOB gave up 6 hits in 8 innings today. Pretty darn difficult to have any of them be consecutive when you give up 6 hits over 24 outs.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Looks like all that Boston talk about trading to the NL was BS. It's probably why they got 2 players back for him.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Never seeing Stewart in a Sox uni again is a great day! Um...technically you will see him in a Sox uniform the next time he's in the big leagues.
-
It would be nice if there was a handshake agreement on some money if his option was picked up.
-
Aj talking up Quintana's slider.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 05:27 PM) Back up at third? Escobar could have. I'd rather see Hudson DFA and kept Lilli. I think he meant the walkoff hit...Lillibridge couldn't have done that.

Jose F***ing Quintana.
