  1. All that and we wind up with a strikeout
  2. That si some serious playing with fire. And Gasoline. And some benzene for good measure.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) If he's the owner, then it's pretty crazy to think my defense of Ozzie would elicit such a venomous response. All I'm doing is stating my defense of Ozzie. It's not like I'm starting threads saying Ozzie this and Ozzie that and I wish Ozzie was still here. You guys think Ozzie quit on the team whatever that means. I say the Sox didn't want him and he sped up the process by negotiating the final week or whenever. If the Sox wanted Ozzie Guillen and made it known they wanted Oz through thick and thin, he'd still be here. But if the Sox expected Ozzie Guillen to fulfill his contract with future commitments based on his performance, he'd darn well start negotiating with another team.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) I do think he should get Danks a start tomorrow maybe. Hard to get too mad about it, as the bench has been just terrible this season. Flowers probably should have been starting yesterday instead of AJ, but Ventura is a believer in benching the starting catcher the day game after a night game. But the bench is going to be horrible if the bench doesn't get any at bats. Double edged sword. Edit: especially if the bench has 3 rookies on it.
  5. Did Stone just call that a sh*tburger?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Flowers is 0 for last 13 with 8 strikeouts. He's also 3-28 vs RHP on the season. So you're saying he is averaging just over 9 at bats against right handers per month?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) This pitcher is terrible, yet pretty weak swings against him so far. Some better swings by the Cubans.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) Nasty offspeed stuff They said that was a fastball
  9. Josh Willingham is walking up to Beckham's song. Beckham ought to be pissed about this.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:22 PM) You really can't overestimate how he kept all the posters loose that year, and deflected criticism to himself. And the "tough love" approach he took with inexperienced posters was invaluable. I'm the rookie who survived!
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) When is the lease up? 2029.
  12. Pair of studies come out on Texas's healthcare tort reform plan, which capped malpractice payments. First one finds that it failed to produce any noticeable decrease in healthcare costs, and in fact Texas's health care costs rose slightly faster than average for the rest of the country after it was passed. Second one suggests that Texas did not see an increase in number of doctors practicing medicine when you account for basic changes like retirements, and in fact the state did slightly worse than the rest of the country at attracting doctors after the malpractice caps were put into effect.
  13. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Shaky ground? Sure, they threatened to move...but that was a loooooong time ago. They aren't going anywhere...that horse has sailed. And yes, no matter what, they are still in the third largest market in the country and there are enough 1%ers that think owning a team is tantamount to wealth. Moving the stadium...again, that horse has sailed. They had their chance with the McPier group and it didn't work. Where else would it go? Suburbs? The better option is to try to make that area better...and it's happening slowly with the Cork and Kerry and the new bar on premise taht I can't remember the name of now. I wouldn't be surprised at all if in about 10 years we started hearing the "new stadium" whispers. If you count the renovations done to Kaufmann and the big A, the Cell is actually becoming one of the older stadiums in the league.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) I'd rather have Danks bat than Hudson/Escobar, plus it improves our defense. I'd rather have Konerko being the one who gets the extra rest thanks to the DH spot than Viciedo.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) its time for Congress to grow a spine.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) Its absolutely possible for them to improve next season. Well, ok, excluding having the second coming happen and Jesus waving his arms over Derrick's knee, I'd love to hear how this is possible.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Right, they are going to be worse. What they CAN do is move some damn contracts to try and stock up for 2013-2014 And it's really, really tough to put this team in a place where it is likely to be competitive in 2013/2014 unless someone Helps the Bulls out by taking on salary. They can't get max-contract under the cap unless they shed everyone other than Noah and Rose (including Gibson and Asik and everyone else on the bench), they're not going to get better by using their Amnesty unless they can get max contract under the cap, and Deng only has so much value to teams who aren't looking to compete next year.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Dan Johnson should be on this roster based on his performance so far at Charlotte. No need for Hudson. Dan Johnson doesn't strike me as much of a backup 2b.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) Right, they are content to not spend more money to improve this team. Whether or not they have a lower payroll than last year is not really relevant, the point is about the Bulls not aggressively trying to improve. Which you seem to be now agreeing with. It is almost theoretically impossible for them to improve next season. Thus, it makes little sense to try to aggressively improve for next season, or to pay the tax for next season.
  20. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) Giving Adam a day off is fairly easy with Danks on the bench. Jordan can play LF and Viciedo can be the DH. Obviously not something you want to do everyday, but Dunn needs a break. Or Konerko to DH, Youkilis to 1b.
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I just dont really see the Bulls really wanting to make a lot of moves. They seem pretty content with their team and if they happen to get lucky and win a Championship, well thats just great. I can't imagine they're content with their team. Keeping this team together means paying the tax.
