  1. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) Is gordon's upperbody kinds crouched now? Or has that been his normal stance? I kinda recall him a lil more straight up, correct me if I'm wrong Yes, he continues overhauling things.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) He gave up 4 singles in the 6th. One was a ground ball fielded by the catcher. Another was a bunt single. He gave up one run and got pulled. Problem was the reliever (Infante) had trouble getting people out and the Knights made a couple of errors... So all 4 runners scored. So, not as bad a start as the numbers would make it look. Thats' the same sorta thing that cost Castro 2 runs when I saw him. Infield hit, swinging bunt, error, couple runs.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) I just love watching this kid pitch... Have you noticed that he's gone from having people on every inning to having nobody on in a lot of innings?
  4. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) He gone, Pirates claimed him off waivers according to MLBtraderumors.com AL teams had first crack at him right? So th at means Sox passed?
  5. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) adeDeadliner ‏@TradeDeadliner #RedSox will activate Aaron Cook from the DL tomorrow to start against ATL. Expect Youkilis trade to be done by then to make room. https://twitter.com/TradeDeadliner Thats where I got it from. I was thinking of that earlier but I have no idea who else they would send down. Aaron Cook is for sure coming up though. He was suppose to start today in Pawtucket. If he started today then why do they need to bring him up tomorrow?
  6. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) It's still beyond me that they were fearing to throw a fastball to a .208 hitter Jesse Crain loves his slider.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) LOL. You tell him! Good post. Telling a person to "give it a rest" gets a "good post"? Greg, give it a rest.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) Loe significantly better against righties than lefties. Not sure what Ventura is saving ADA for, as it's not like he's going to hit for anyone else in the lineup. Genuinely giving him a day off?
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) Good to see Tank is 2-2. Game not on TV or mlb so I looking at box score. Lilly 0-3. WOW. He should be DFAed IMO. He can't hit a baseball anymore. I want to use the swear filter to change the phrase "DFA" to "I know nothing about baseball and I'm unworthy of using this abbreviation".
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) This announce team do any research? The Sox bullpen has one of the worst ERAs in the AL, yet they say it's a strong suit? The Sox pen has an ERA of 3.78, Milwaukee's pen has an ERA of 4.49, yet this thread has said the Sox have already pissed away the game.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) Trust me, I would have been pointing out if Morel's poor defense cost us 3 wins like I believe Hudson's defense has. Morel's D was mediocre, but I still believe Hudson's defense has killed this team at times. It is frustrating that Escobar didn't get another start after being a catalyst in his last game. I'll bet if I really looked I could find plenty of posts by you saying that Morel's D was killing us. Because it was. He couldn't make the simple plays.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) Wouldn't that be because 7 of the 9 hitters in the everyday lineup got hot at the same time (besides Alexei and Hudson) Getting a professional at bat out of the 9 hole and suddenly having a 3b who was getting to balls made a big difference too.
  13. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) Thome walkoff in Philly! 13th Career! Most career walkoff HR by any player in MLB history.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) I disagree, Hudson's horrible defense has cost us way more than Morel's terrible offense has. And this is coming from someone who hates Morel. And coming from this site's biggest Morel defender...there's a reason this team got hot right when Morel hit the DL. Hudson's D has hurt, but Morel wasn't helping on D either. Morel didn't make the bonehead plays, but he was also struggling with the regular plays he should make. And he was hitting worse/having worse at bats.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) Roider ties it at 2. Youk has a track record, he's clerly not fitting with Bobby over at Boston, look what new manager and a breath of fresh air did to the White Sox this year. Unless Bobby Valentine is finding where Youkilis sleeps and spending the night beating him senseless with aluminum bats, this doesn't have anything to do with Valentine. It's all about his body taking the pounding of being both a regular MLB player and even more so, an MLB 3b.
  16. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:04 PM) Youkilis still has a .311 OBP, which is higher than 4 regulars in Whitesox lineup In April it was .292. He went on the DL in May, came off and had 10 solid games or so, hit .313 with a .371 OBP. Then, June came, and he's back to a punchless .296 OBP. In his current body condition, that sub.300 OBP is what we might expect. If he can get healthy or stronger or something like that, then sure, that OBP will shoot back up, but that's where he is right now, and let's be honest about what is going to be required for that to get better. This is why I wouldn't give up anything useful while paying $3 million for him.
  17. 13th career walk of home run for a guy named Jim Thome. Passing a guy named "Babe Ruth" for most in major league baseball history.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Balta, you really think Youk wouldn't be better than Hudson? It is hard to play worse than Hudson has with the Sox Youk has to hit better than Hudson, because he's going to be even worse than Hudson on D, especially with his physical condition...and outside of 10 games in late May right after coming off the DL, Youk's putting up a sub-.600 OPS hiimself this year and getting worse.
  19. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Brent with his busted back is better than Hudson Disagree, and that's after having watched. Hudson's made plenty of bonehead plays but also some admirable ones, and simply put together better at bats than Morel. I'm not sure Youkilis with his body condition won't be worse than Hudson. Or even basically non-existant, with Escobar playing most days for health reasons. But then...if we don't give up too much for him, I can't complain, may as well try and see if you get lucky with his body holding out for a month or two. I just wouldn't sit here and pretend he's likely to be a great option.
