  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 2, 2012 -> 10:39 AM) STOP IT DID YOU NOT GET THE MEMO THIS KID IS SPECIAL f*** Just noting that Rose's defense is missed too.
  2. Jrue Holliday shot 37.5% when Rose was on the court and 70.6% when Rose wasn't on the court in the first 2 games.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 2, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) Whoops. Guess I should have read the posts above mine before posting that link. Oh, hey, I'll also add one more...the guy was a creep and I'm totally glad he's gone for other reasons (Cowleyesque twitter work, poor performance at the UN), but those issues tend to make others into ideal people to work on Republican campaigns these days.
  4. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 1, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) Oh, I agree that it's terrible he felt he had to resign and that such pressure even existed in the first place. I guess it just slightly refocuses the attack from Romney's campaign specifically to a significant portion of the GOP in general. It's probably worth pointing out in reply that even though the Romney campaign is saying they privately tried to convince him to stay on...they made no public comment or expression of support for him, and made no public efforts to call out the bigots who said he couldn't be a part of that campaign solely because he was gay.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2012 -> 10:07 AM) Great, now I get to buster the off day boredom thread. My work here is done.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2012 -> 12:08 AM) Thanks. How then do you explain the success of the Braves' hitters under Walker if he's such a dog? I say congratulations to Walker for getting the credit he deserves and you blast me? From what I can tell of a hitting coach, Walker is as good as any in putting in the time and effort it takes to help ego-ridden big leaguers improve. If I wanted to be the level of caricature you're being, I'd simply say that right now, Jayson Heyward is not hurt, whereas he was in terrible health last year.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 1, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) That and the other team is shooting like 70% which gets the f*** old. Teams don't shoot 70% against a team playing effective defense and converting on offense.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Yes, because anybody could've predicted two of the premier players in basketball simultaneously having the worst years of their careers. I said before the season that Tyson was an elite defensive big. I was mocked. I at least get that now. I think it's totally unsurprising that Amare had a season where he was clearly breaking down, and its' similarly unsurprising that they had trouble with him being effective on the court with Melo as well. And if you want to go with surprises on that team...I don't know that anything surprised me more than Steve Novak suddenly becoming the greatest 3 point shooter in NBA history for a stretch. And that's including the "Jeremy Lin" phenomeon.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2012 -> 03:38 AM) (How) can the Phillies make the playoffs with THAT hitting? http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...yoff-team-maybe They have to get Howard and Utley back at some point. That's really the only answer. If Howard and Utley missed the entire year, I'd think most philly phans would say that they were in a lot of trouble.
  10. Quintana 6 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K's, ERA to 3.06 on the year. Santos Rodriguez takes the loss, gives up 1 run in 2 innings, walked 2 and struck out 3. Scoreless 9th for Remenowsky.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) 21K in 105 PA so far. 20% SO rate which is completely fine considering the power numbers, BA and walk rate (20 BB) he has had Over a 600 PA season, 20% SO rate is 120 K's, if it translated directly. If a guy is walking a lot and hits 20 HR, that's still a very useful player. Not an MVP, but that's a player somewhere between BJ Upton and the healthy Grady Sizemore.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:55 AM) Last year was such an incredible statistical outlier in terms of baseball history. We are talking about multiple guys having multi-generationally bad seasons. Sure you can always throw out the "you never know"'s for anything. A meteor could smash into the earth tomorrow and destroy the entire planet, but the reality is the odds of that are pretty damned small. When people post stuff like that it isn't to say that it is a 100% guarantee. (Of course, if NASA wasn't having its budget gutted, the odds of an unexpected meteor large enough to destroy a whole lot of stuff hitting the Earth would become vanishingly small in the next few years).
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) He smoked his home run to left...hit it right on the button. Went the other way really nice on his second hit, hit the ball really solidly to right. His third hit was sort of a flare to right which was fairly impressive simply because it was low and on the outside corner. He's clearly been adjusting his stance the last week or so. He has more motion in the bat than he used to, the bat is more horizontal, and last night he was quite a bit lower with more bend in his knees.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ May 1, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) This is asinine. I'm going to have to blame the coaching and I love Thibs I think you're watching a team that had its heart ripped out. Pushed a big first half on guile and emotion but that faded and now depression takes over.
  15. Becks had his knees much more bent than he did last month.
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 1, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) Does it make sense to move the entire lineup down a spot? Bat Dunn 2nd, Paulie 3rd, AJ 4th, Rios 5th, etc.? Is it better to do that than to plug in automatic outs/DP machines into the 2-hole just because of common wisdom? Better to have Dunn up with no outs and De Aza on than Dunn up with 1 or 2 outs because our "2-hole" guy is terrible. There are only so many spots in a lineup where you can hide someone.
  17. QUOTE (Baron @ May 1, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) Im glad Robin finally admitted that they cant keep Beckham and Morel in the lineup with the way they are hitting(if they keep it up). He is going to give them more time. But if they keep struggling he'll take them out. Did he say somethig like this in the pregame?
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) Still a very good OPS for a 19 year old middle infielder in a league that's always been more known for pitching than hitting. The problem is that Sanchez and Saladino don't really have 3-4-5 tools...solid players, but not projected to be impact players. Well, hopefully he can continue that high walk rate and continue to improve defensively. I don't know about Sanchez, but That doesn't sound like Saladino to me. Saladinos scouting report is that he's ok to good on all the tools but not five star great on anything (although he still obviously could get there).
  19. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 1, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) I'm not saying this is true, but the article you linked specifically states it was Grenell's choice, and even that "senior officials from the Romney campaign and respected Republicans not on the campaign contacted Ric Grenell over the weekend in an attempt to persuade him not to leave the campaign. Those were unsuccessful." Ok, rewording, that's fair. He resigned under outside pressure that only came about because of his sexual orientation, for no other reason other than that, and I don't know how you interpret that other than establishing a new standard that homosexuals cannot serve in a high level position in a Republican campaign without angering the base.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 1, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) lol This is exactly what Im talking about. Why dont we just give the Heat the trophy? The Pacers (a team that beat them by 15 this year) cant beat them, so why even play the games? If it wasn't for last year I'd agree, but the Heat can still let themselves down, and the Thunder and hopefully antoher team or two from the West definitely have a shot. Or Lebron could also tear an ACL.
