QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) Getting steals doesn't make you a great defensive player. Rondo gets steals because he's very aggressive in playing the passing lanes. Lin got by him quite a bit but couldn't finish in and around the paint. Rondo is quick, but a great defensive player he is not. Rondo is able to take chances like that because the system is built for the team to win while he does that. If he overcommits and leaves a hole, then he's got Garnett behind him and formerly Perkins to clog up the lane and prevent too much damage from happening.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Gavin Floyd trade rumors are back (Jays, Red Sawks) A few weeks ago it was unlikely, now it's not happening. The White Sox aren't breaking up their rotation and leaving themselves with no 5th starter right now. If someone came out and tore up camp unexpectedly like Castro, Axelrod, or Molina, then maybe it could be plausible, but you wouldn't see that for 4 weeks. -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) 18, 17, and 20 for Rondo. What a game. 3rd ever 15/15/15 game in NBA history, Kidd with the first 2.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) The Bears have solid guards and guard isn't a difference maker position, imo. You just don't spend 60M on guard play, imo. I know they had the best backfield in the league at that time, but Hutchinson moving from Seattle to Minnesota tells me it can be a difference-making position. Probably other examples I could come up with given more time, but that's one that stands out to me where a team signed a FA guard and it massively upgraded their O-Line.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) He's got 4 triple-doubles this season. No one else has more than 1. 15/20/14 right now for Rondo with a steal and a block. And he has missed a ton of layups around the hoop. He's 6-18 from the floor and has regularly been right there.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) Did D'Antoni even draw up a play there with 4.9 left? God that was ugly. "Melo isolates on this side, everyone else clears out".

That was an awful possession by Boston and a terrible shot by Pierce. And somehow it went in.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

There's plenty of stuff in here that makes me think "this writer doesn't know anything about this team", but here's some blogger writing about where Ventura and the Sox might go this year. -
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) Whatever happened to Amar'e, he has looked just awful most of this season. Early int he game the announcers said they asked him about that and he said something about still trying to get into shape.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) Yeah that was a crap call. He was just responding to Garnetts trash talk It was only called because it was following a previous set of double-T's and the Refs are trying to get control back. That's their discretion, that call alone would have been crap but when it happened is important.

Is Steve Novak the best 3 point shooter in the league? I can't tell if I'm kidding or not. This guy can't miss.

Finally the Celtics put together a crisp quarter, while the Knicks continue throwing the ball everywhere. I think the current Celtics run is now 24-5, to give the Celts a 15 point lead. This Knicks team has just been as careless as can be. The Celtics matched them by failing to hit anything in the first half, now they're hitting a few shots and ripping them. Davis and Lin have 12 points and 11 TO's between them.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Fair point, but they would have to be pretty sure that he is a surefire left tackle to take on that risk. Improving at guard only to regress at tackle seems like a net loss to me. I've defended Webb and wouldn't be surprised if they gave him another shot, but I have to say..."Regressing at tackle" would be pretty darn difficult. Hell, the fact that Omiyale will not play there is automatically an upgrade. If Webb takes the Tackle spot, then worst case scenario he's about where he was last year, and Carimi hopefully comes back on the other side. If Williams takes that spot, he's taking it hopefully because he's outplaying webb, and then the interior is hopefully shored up.
-
QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) This is exactly what I was trying to say. Paying a lot of money for a guard is a luxury at this point, and paying for luxuries gets you in a position like the Eagles. If the Bears spend a lot of money on a guard, it's probably because they decided to move Williams back to tackle. Possible, but dunno if Tice is up for that kind of shift.

14 turnovers in the first half for the Knicks and they're currently up 7. This has just been one sloppy, sloppy half.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:56 PM) oh i was thinking r-money Exactly. Say that out loud versus "Romney". r-money is slower out of your mouth and has a second syllable. Makes it worse for radio.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) i like rMoney. he should use that. Really hard to pronounce though. You're adding a 3rd syllable to his name.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) Well, then why do they watch MSNBC? Anyways, it could be successful, but you you need someone that has something interesting/smart to say. People do?
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) 100% agreed that that station is unbearably bad. I stumbled on it a few weeks ago and someone kept saying "Mint RawMoney" instead of Mitt Romney. That was enough for me never to bother with it again. Republicans can't do satire very well. Democrats can't do talk radio. Just stick with what you're good at. Wait, I know I've got a couple people here who've joined in calling him rMoney?

H. Christ. Steve Novak is shooting 56% from 3 point range over his last 14 games for the Knicks.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) Except now advertisers are pulling ads and GOP leaders are at least kinda-sorta criticizing the remarks. Does this mean anything long-term? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't see what basis you or Y2HH have for believing it's impossible. You say that like it's the first time he's lost advertisers, stations, or whatever over various remarks. He couldn't even get pulled off of Armed Forces radio for defending Abu Ghraib for crying out loud.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) He lost over a hundred sponsors and Goldline was pretty much the only one left. Regardless, the point is that Rush isn't some constant, everlasting force that can't have his brand and influence damaged by his own horribleness. Hell, look at the GOP itself: this time last year, it looked increasingly likely that they would take the Senate and the Presidency while holding on to the House. Really though, it's been what, 20 years, and nothing he has said has done anything to hurt his brand? He's going to get his $20 million+ a year, he's going to be on 2000 stations a day, and that's just how it is.
