  1. So far, this Knicks defense is just a joke. They're still getting and hitting crazy shots to keep it from being broken open early.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) The fact that Glenn Beck was under assault and losing sponsors was proof to his core audience that [blah blah blah], but he still lost his TV show and is nowhere near as relevant as he was a couple of years ago. That doesn't mean that he lost his job because his show wasn't profitable though. His show was still plenty profitable thanks to making Goldline a household name...what really happened is that Fox sorta started pushing him out because everyone else started laughing at the network and his conspiracy-mongering was really ripping at whatever "Credibility" fox was trying to hold on to. He wasn't let go because his show wasn't profitable, he was let go because he was hurting everything else at Fox.
  3. Really interested to see how this Celtics/Knicks game goes, now that Lin is a fair amount less surprising and has the full team around him, but also has to go to Boston, face off against Rondo and the full Celtics starting lineup, but then also you have the distracted Rondo with trade rumors here. Lotta sub plots going on here.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 04:28 AM) Well it might be easier to upgrade WR in free agency than oline, I think it's also easier to upgrade WR in the draft than it is oline. Hence, if you're going to spend big, it's not a bad idea to address oline in FA and WR in the draft. Either way, I highly doubt Nicks would be coming to the Bears anyway because of his likely price tag. I just happen to think he's about as safe a bet as you can have in free agency. Actually, I think it's harder to upgrade WR in the draft than OL is, because WR has this nasty habit of taking several seasons to develop. OLine, a guy from the 2nd round can step in and make a difference based on talent alone. In the WR's area, you occasionally get a Randy Moss who can do that, but even guys like Calvin Johnson take a couple years before they truly start ripping the league apart. The fact that there's this big, longn development process at that position in particular makes me think it's easier to upgrade OL in the draft than WR.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Well, he either doesn't understand how oral birth control works (it's fixed-cost) or he's intentionally lying to a dumb, gullible fanbase. It'd be great for him to go away, but he still wields a large amount of power within the GOP. Maybe this incident will be the tipping point where he's finally marginalized such that GOP politicians don't need to run and issue an apology if they dare to criticize him. Are you kidding? The fact that he's under assault by those evil liberals will just strengthen his connection with his base listeners, and turning out those listeners is key for winning elections. He won't be "marginalized" until he retires.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Pretty much. Consistency is the most valuable trait to have in the tournament. Really? I feel like consistency is nice but plenty of inconsistent teams in the regular season have hit a groove to take over the tourney.
  7. Theo is going to try to enforce a no-partying/no late nights rule on the Cubs.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) 2009 - .826 OPS, 94 games 2010 - .824 OPS, 118 games 2011 - .811 OPS, 94 games He's been a fine hitter, but the Indians have to handle him with kid gloves anymore otherwise he's going to hit an extended DL stint. Do they still play him in CF? Trying him in the corner to see if he could stay healthy seems like a reasonable move. Heck, you might try making him a DH if you werent' already paying Hafner so much to DH.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) I'll take both of them in Chicago please. Probably only cap space for 1 of them.
  10. 5 year, $25 million deal for Cameron Maybin (CF, SD). One option year at the end. Buys out 2 years of free agency.
  11. Statement by Rush Limbaugh released.
  12. More tornadoes recorded from this storm than are recorded in an average March. Nationwide.
  13. Peyton Manning is back doing some solid throwing workouts.
  14. Brees officially tagged. Colston and Nicks will be unrestricted free agents.
  15. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Veal pitched 2 innings, struggled with his control. Afterwards Cooper said to him, "The positive we get from this today is you were more aggressive in your second inning." Reporting live from spring training, this is BigEd. Who is Veal?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) Snow>tornados At this rate, I'm going to know what it looks like when you combine them.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Tampa Bay Rays Youth 2011 AL Wild Card Champions Official Club House T-Shirt Makes sense I guess, something to sell. I wouldn't want one.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) Ventura is leaning toward AJ 2nd, and Paulie 4th. Could be Rios batting 3rd. Hmmm. De Aza Pierzynski Rios Konerko Dunn Viciedo Ramirez Morel Beckham What do you think? AJ's still a crappy option as the 2nd hitter, but the people need to earn it otherwise and prove that there's a better option. The lineup gets very right handed from 3-9, especially if Dunn struggles at all. Viciedo, Ramirez, Morel, and Beckham might never see a left handed reliever.
  19. Windows 8 consumer beta preview version is out. Lotta details. Actually sounds really interesting.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) I do also. I think he could have 25-30 HR potential. Not only did he come alive and hit HR's in September he also averaged the longest HR's on the Sox. So, I saw him in the minors a couple times he had legit line drive power, whole lot of line drives, but everything was hard doubles rather than HR. My guess for him might be a 15 HR guy, but who also can load up on doubles in the gap/over the head of the OF's. Of course, might well be that he adds some muscle from that point and that's enough to push him to bigger power than I was expecting from him.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) I don't know about that. Lebron has taken and made plenty of game winning shots, and he has missed plenty as well. So has Kobe. So did MJ. I think Lebron is starting to get a complex about the final minute, It seems as if he is over thinking it a lot and doing abnormal things. I agree with him, he can't win. I enjoy it because I want the Heat to fail and Bulls to get ahead because of it, but I think a lot of the talk about him in the final minute has been really overblown. I certainly don't think he is scared, though. I don't think that it's just the final shot that Lebron is developing a complex over, it's anything where the press starts talkign about him or thinking about him as "the guy".
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) The pitch was a slider, according to Floyd. Don't even remember him having that pitch? Thought it was 2 fastballs, changeup, and then 2 curveballs for him?
  23. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) So if you win the second wild card do you get the same Shirt/Hat/Champagne celebration? Even if you only play in one game and get eliminated? Or does the winner of that game get to call themselves "Wild Card Champions"? Teams have shirts and hats for the wild card? You can celebrate, but I don't recall shirts and hats.
  24. Yay, telephone calls inviting me to a rally with rMoney tomorrow night! Gingrich is here on Monday I believe, little Ricky was here yesterday! ANd now I'm even getting Sheldon Adelson's money spent on me. Every time I see that ad I think I paid for part of it by buying a beverage at the Venetian.
