Very big fan, think they've aged surprisingly well, have found interesting stuff on each of their albums, the only album of theirs I don't legally own is 10...totally understand how their later-year-stuff would turn off people who really got into 10.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 08:47 AM) um... the guy hasn't played organized ball since high school, and he gets a Spring Training invite? I'm not against signing someone like this, but giving him an NRI seems sort of ridiculous. There is a 0% chance he is ready to face major league pitching. Wait, so they're signing him as a position player and not as a pitcher?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 08:35 AM) The health care act pushes him to lean-left though. Except for the fact that the format of the PPACA was originally an idea from the Heritage foundation.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) I'd rather kill myself than spend $500 to eat a meal. Until you are able to poop gold.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) Is that even possible cap wise then? Anything's possible. They can make the salaries match up in a variety of ways. The problem for the Magic is that the Bulls simply can't offer an expiring deal. The Bulls can take on Howard and Turkoglu and match those contracts mostly with Deng and Noah, I think (depending on the BYC rules)...but Deng and Noah are under contract for 2.5 and 4.5 years from now. Getting rid of Turkoglu and then taking on $25 million a year in commitments really doesn't clear anything for the Magic in terms of cap space any time in the near future.

QUOTE (mumbles3k @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 03:58 AM) Is Peavy really considered to be the number 4 starter? Until he proves otherwise, yeah.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) Ref complaining is a function of every single fanbase. You remember a couple weeks ago when Indiana lost to Wisconsin? Well every single Indiana fan I know (and I live in Indy) was b****ing about the officiating after that game. The Illini fans on this board get a bad reputation because there are more Illinois fans that post in this forum than other fans. Anytime the free throw discrepancy is 42-15 there's going to be complaints from any fanbase in the country (to put that number in perspective, IU had the same number of free throw attempts as FG attempts). The refs lost control in the 2nd half. Tough loss. Congrats to IU on a good win. Illini need two road wins and to hold serve at home or they will be in the NIT this year. Honestly, I'd rather have seen what the last 15 minutes would have looked like had the refs actually let the teams play. Like 1/4 of the fouls called were legit. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Maybe they were saying something? It didn't look like they were crowding the court or anything. I'm serious, I have no clue what that call is. Never ever heard it before. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Typical Soxtalk during an Illinois game. The refs blow. Foul there a moment ago might be the first legit foul I saw since I tuned in. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Clean house, get Cutler some weapons. That's what we wanted, that is what we are getting. Hopefully a bookend tight end to compliment Kellen Davis as well. Kellen Davis, btw, is also a free agent. Spaeth is the only TE the Bears have under contract. This is why I say I could live with the Bears only finding a backup ot this offseason but totally overhauling the wr corps. Obviously more would be nice, but they don't even have humans to catch passes next year.

Wow, I just tuned in, saw 1 terrible no call, one tolerable call, then a bad actual call. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Lol I don't even know why you brought up Hurd. Besides the fact that he was immediately cut, that guy is probably going to be in a small cell for a long period of time. At this point it's genuine amusement. The guy who would otherwise be the #3 wr on their roster was one of Chicagos biggest drug dealers. The Bears could spend their top 3 picks on wr this draft and genuinely still wonder if their wr corps is undermanned.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Please resume the beating of previously mentioned deceased horse. I will keep the small flicker of hope alive in my mind If Orlando would do it, that'd get done. But that's $25 million Orlando would be taking on.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 08:14 PM) I've been consistent in my "f*** Obama" stance on all of those issues. And sadly, those are now mainstream and the other party thinks they're not done enough.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) That's kind of funny because I just read an article yesterday highlighting how many of the things the Dems hated about Bush policy, they now approve of. Like individual health insurance mandates? Oh, wait...

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) I'm not saying he is all pro or anything like that but he definitely has value to a team. Definitely has his flaws but he is a much better WR than Hester and anything that keeps Hester away from WR is a bonus in itself..... Ideally we would bring in a F/A WR and draft one but hard to predict with a new GM. IMO, there is no sense in which the Bears not bringing in a free agent WR is not a gigantic failure. And that doesn't include Roy Williams either. The Bears WR corps right now, that they can count on next year on opening day is: 1. Earl Bennett 2. Devin Hester 3. Dane Sanzenbacher. Roy Williams is a FA, Sam Hurd has other issues, and Knox might never play football again. Say what you want about the O-Line, the Bears need 3+ warm bodies for WR, and there's no way around it.

Except for the fact that he missed 1/3 of the season.

Wait...what?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) It's a wonder how they can make a prediction for the season performance in February You pretty much assume everyone will do exactly as they did the year before, and then sprinkle in a bit of your own personal bias regarding which players you like.

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) IMNSHO there are plenty of people with more knowledge of the attacks and/or more institutional/positional power and authority than the head football coach. Those people with more positional power and more knowledge are mentioned much less, and blamed far less, than the head football coach. With the exception of the fact that the 2 key guys above his head are facing charges.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 03:57 PM) No, she's 100% aware that this money will be paid by the banks. Her contention is that it's going to be structured in a way that amounts to them unloading some bad debt and impacting people who have invested in those mortgages primarily instead of actually effecting BoA etc. The issue probably comes in how exactly you bookkeep "Bad" debt here. If the banks are funding partial write-downs in mortgages that are well over the value of the home, then the banks are reducing the value of the debt they hold, but they're not necessarily losing money on the deal because it was likely that some of those underwater mortgages would go bad anyway.

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) That would be cats You've once again mistaken the modern age for ancient Egypt. In this era, we worship those who are better off than us. They are the job creators. Everything must be done to keep them happy, or we all shall suffer.

Can one of the legal people give a reason for why one would file a case with an initial damage claim this high?
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) I think that really depends on breed and family history. Those 25th generation purse-pooches can't have much instinct beyond which elevator to press or which limo offers the best ride. Thus, we let them run the world.
