  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) @AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Carson Palmer to the Raiders now official. Compensation expected to be a 1 in 2012 and a conditional 1 in 2013. H. Christ. Someone in Cinci deserves a promotion.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) If moving Rios' salary allows the sox to keep Quentin, then Quentin is better than what the Sox get from trading Danks. There's a real decent chance that if the Sox keep quentin, a random AA baller gotten in return for Danks will contribute more to this team next year than Quentin. That's just how fragile he's proven to be.
  4. Had to use tinyurl because otherwise the swearfilter would get the link. S*** siri says.com.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) It still surprises me that M56 is predicted to be a Type B FA. A mid-rotation or better starter on most teams is a Type B? It's the classic "The advanced metrics hate M-56 because he doesn't strike enough people out" game.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) He might pick up a part or two, but all indications are that the payroll will shrink by a noticeable amount. $110 million is still a noticeable amount.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) It is awful nice of you to interpret for Row. You did as well.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Yep. 1.CQ 2.MT 3.JD/GF, if not both. No, he's saying that Thornton comes in at #3 after those guys.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) It would go towards paying the guys we have now, which you already know. If you move both Rios and Danks, that drops the total salary to $100 mil this year, and I don't know what Trader Kenny will do with that scratch. I actually think he'd be tempted to spend it.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) 3. Quentin and Danks/Floyd. I'd agree with this...these guys actually are overkill on this roster, Thornton isn't.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) I think there is an outside chance that the Yankees or Red Sox would take Rios along with Danks if they are desperate enough for pitching and miss out on other targets. Nobody is taking Dunn or Peavy. Also have to figure though...D1 had a really down season which hurts, he's getting expensive himself so that's a $20 million commitment...Boston in particular already has a ton of bad money on their roster, and the Yankees recently seem to avoid pushing hard to add guys that would be problems. The right move is just to play him in April and see what happens...but have the leash very short.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) That does us no good. We need the players we get from a Danks trade more than we need to move Rios salary. That would depend on what we did with the money. That said...signing someone for that $10 million would be a step in the 2011 direction.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Congrats for living to MSNBC and Fox's standards. If this isn't news then why are you in this thread?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) Exactly. Use that search function!!! Oh, go back to imagining there's no pizza.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) It also probably leaves you Axelrod and maybe even Santiago based on how the pen does over the winter. Santiago...I'd look at grooming him for the pen (probably by starting him in Charlotte if there's a spot open)...but I'd only look at him if Thornton is moved, and I'd only move Matty for a solid offer. Axelrod...I'm thinking I'd put him as the last guy out of the pen right now.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) I didn't say it wouldn't get published. I said it wasn't news. There is a big difference. "Somebody stupid said something stupid" is the definition of "news" in this world.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Make sure to explore the entire thread before posting Tex! Or at least pay attention 2 weeks ago when the numbers are released
  18. Very good way to hide from the real world.
  19. SS, both of those images contained language which would have otherwise been caught by the swear filter, and so I have converted them to links. Please make note of that when you post images in the future.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) I vote for this option. With Sale needing to build up his arm and Peavy's arm constantly falling off, you will need that 6th starter. Let Stewart every 5 days in Charlotte so he can be ready to pitch for the Sox when needed. I'm entirely in agreement with this statement.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 08:33 AM) Maybe he's looking at the next Jon Garland or Jeff Marquez. There are that many Californians in Central America?
  22. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) If this is true, then I don't expect a full blown rebuild. Man honestly, who knows that the hell the Sox are going to do. KW might not be done surprising us just yet. The most obvious plan I can see is "Trade Quentin and Danks, keep M-56 and go into the season with that." Signing M-56 fits with the "Keep M-56" part of that plan. But yeah...this is where Trader Kenny earns his nickname.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) It is only news to joe. To everyone else it is last months news. Which is of course why ESPN is picking it up as fresh news and it will hang on that page probably all day. Might even get a question to him on it in BBTN later this week. Come on man, now you're just being silly, you know that whoever Ozzie made those remarks to they'd get published.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Kenny has had plenty of chances to throw Ozzie under the bus and hasn't done so yet. But personally if Ozzie is going to keep going, I have no problem with Kenny defending the organization. Go ahead and do the tell all to get it over with. Kenny was very unlikely to be the one to throw the first punch, that one I agree with, he's good like that. But I will be stunned (and impressed) if he is willing to avoid the counterpunch.
  25. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 06:49 AM) Whether Coop has 26 weeks or 26 years there is still an organizational chart based on position. So yeah, maybe he did go over his bosses head. That doesn't always work. Oz went over his bosses head and tried working out an extension with JR. Currently soxtalk seems to believe that Oz was the singular worst manager in the history of the game. There is nothing he can say or do that will not be blasted. No, you're incorrect there. There is nothing Ozzie can say "Negative" about his time in Chicago that would not be blasted, deservedly so. If Ozzie Guillen wanted to be gracious or let the past stay in the past, then it would have massively increased my respect for him. Wasn't going to happen.
