Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) Ozzie Newsome his own GM did the same thing a few years ago to the Vikings get over it. He doesn't have to get over it. It's a good way to make the press come out a little more favorable towards his team and write an article or two on the subject.

7/19 GT: Sox @ Royals, 7:10pm
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) It's downright spooky is what it is. I can't rememebr when we have had two such large black holes in our line up as we do with Rios and Dunn. But, to think the Sox would send down Dunn and or Rios is absolutely an absurd idea. It just isn't going to happen an I am sure it's never been discussed by the Sox high command as an option. Again, Sending Adam Dunn and Alex Rios to the minor leagues would require the Sox to immediately spend about $95 million.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) 5% of people making less than $22,000 a year have a photo copier? WTF? Why? Not really making a comment about the whole poorpeople and necessities thing, as much as just saying... photocopier? Really? I can offer 2 possibilities. 1. A lot of business owners start off making below that line and need to own those sorts of supplies for the business that they're running. 2. They've counted something that does photocopies, like an all-in-1 printer.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) john harbaugh goes on waddle and silvy and is still complaining about the draft day non-trade between the bears and ravens. someone correct me if i am wrong, didnt the ravens do the same thing to the vikings? Yes. he has every right to complain also. The Bears should just respond with "no comment".

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) I think everyone has to remember that they were willing to trade Viciedo before. Wouldnt surprise me to see him gone for a top reliever. If you are 100% all in and you really mean it...that's a move you'd actually do. Problem is we may be all-in and holding an 8 high.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) I don't think Kenny will see the need to be as great as the price ultimately requires. I would have said that about starting pitching last year.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) I dont want to see Pena in a sox uniform ever again thank you very much Then...you better be willing to give up the price for a releiver who is substantially better than Tony Pena.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) He hates the environment. We got to 82 when no one is in the house. We only run ours on weeks like this one. Last week was fine without.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) We keep our house at 78 or 79 in the summer. 79-80 here, mainly I only flip the AC on when I need to remove the humidity. Good ol BS, burning up that CO2.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Besides Bell and Adams who are some cheap options out there? Maybe Qualls? Tony Pena can be had in exchange for a roster spot.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) If all it took was Andy Wilkins to get Heath Bell I'd drive him to the airport right now. Heath Bell will almost certainly be a type A free agent at the end of the year right? In other words, his asking price has to be greater than a sandwich pick and a 2nd round pick.

Guillen/KW at least "PR spinning" they want Buehrle back nex
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Hence the word season and least. I'm not sold on giving Danks a major payday. Let someone else do it. I didn't say anything about giving D1 a major payday. I just said that there's a game with a lot of black shirts that says he's no mental midget.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Both are mental midgets compared to MB. The 2008 season disagrees about D1 at least.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Yeah, it's because we are still under .500. The Braves, for whom Jonny Venters pitches, are about 25 games over .500, which means they have probably been in quite a few more close and late situations than us, in which a pitcher like Crain or Venters would be utilized most. I wouldn't call it an accident, it's a direct result of the fact that we have 6 starters, most of whom tend to work deep into games, and who Ozzie always gives a chance to earn a win (like it or not). I checked this last offseason...Every year that Ozzie has been here the Sox have been at or near the top of the league in innings from their starters and at or near the bottom of the league in innings from the bullpen. Crain's in the worst possible situation for usage...the only reliable righty in a bullpen filled with lefties, and he's still only gotten mildly heavy use.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) BTW, are we over speculating the possibility of MB pitching for the Cards because he is a fan? The only time I ever here this is only around Sox fans. I haven't seen any other publications supporting this. M-56 gets asked usually at least a couple times a year if he'd like to pitch for the Cardinals and he always says yes since he was a fan of theirs, but there's never been any "The Cardinals are negotiating with Mark Buehrle" or "The Sox and Cards are talking about Buehrle" rumors.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) So we'll be trading him for a more expensive player that plays the same position but is a veteran? And throwing in another prospect to boot? Sounds like a way to solve our righty reliever need.

7/19 GT: Sox @ Royals, 7:10pm
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) And I understand that Morel will be starting the next two days against lefties, who he hits .191 against. Somebody please inform Ozzie of the fact that platoon stats are often very individual-specific, and don't follow the usual convention. So wait, today's lineup is going to include Juan Pierre Brent Morel Adam Dunn Tyler Flowers Alex Rios That's not exactly what I'd call scary.

Sox are looking for a righty reliever?
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) This should not be a huge priority for us, but Crain does stand to be the overused guy, as long as most of our games remain close ones. And maybe it's a way to move somebody else off the roster that we've been too gutless to deal with otherwise. Is it worth pointing out that Crain is tied for 43rd in MLB in most appearances? Jonny Venters (seriously, no h in his name?), a rookie, has appeared in 12 more games. Scott Linebrink has pitched in more games than Crain.

Fascinating. You actually cut your greenhouse gas emissions more by replacing beef/lamb with pork/chicken than you do by replacing pork/chicken with a vegan diet.- Quietly so no one sees . . .
Xanthan gum might be regulated by a communist government.- Quietly so no one sees . . .
Very unlikely that Cartman is a communist. - The environment thread
