  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) Great finds? Trades? What's the difference? I've always given KW credit for those moves. But the fact we have to keep going back to those moves proves my point. It's a what have you done for me lately sport. And KW hasn't done much lately. You yourself just drew the distinction when you were trying to find a way to give the Cardinals credit for moves they made in the early 2000's without having to do the icky thing of giving KW credit for more recent moves. It's a what have you done for me lately sport. Man the Cardinals cleaned up when they traded for Scott Rolen and Larry Walker. But KW was lucky when he found Danks and Quentin. What has KW done for me lately?
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Manning would be sitting on the sideline the entire time. Like Lebron in the 4th quarter? /Rimshot
  3. I love how you call Danks a great "Find", when he was exactly the kind of acquisition you're giving the Cardinals credit for but the Sox no credit for. He was traded for a nearly ready White Sox MLB prospect developed pitcher. Same thing with Quentin. Traded for a minor leaguer. You give the Cardinals credit for those moves, but when the Sox do them it's luck.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) Building a 16,000 square foot home in Scottsdale with your bare hands would get anybody into better shape. I'm pretty sure Paulie wears batting gloves.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) No, you're making no sense. Two QBs can't play at the same time. What, Manning has to sit on the bench and wait for Brady to get hurt? And 2 penetrating #1 scorers has never worked, or really been tried, in the NBA before either.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) You could also say their farm net them Scott Rolen, Larry Walker and Matt Holliday. And why are you forgetting about Jaime Garcia? He's now proven he was no flash in the pan. I'm not saying the Cards are the Red Sox. But they dwarf the White Sox. Ok, so the Cardinals farm system gets credit for the guys they've netted...but the White Sox's farm system gets no credit at all for the dozens of guys KW has traded for over the last decade. This is exactly why you piss people off so much with this. The standards you use to praise other people's farm systems are so much more loose than what you use to attack the Sox's system it's not even funny.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:56 AM) But he is likely not going to be adding the walking. Granted, he has the tools to be a really good OF, which can off-set his weaknesses in hitting. I think we gotta hope he becomes a .850 OPS guy with great D. A lower OBP/BAA Grady Sizemore seems about what he can become. He's been steadily holding down a 1 BB/10 at bats rate throughout the minors so far. That's not bad for his level.
  8. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Good to see Jordan Danks staying consistent in the batters box. Nothing earth shattering but still, our farm system needs that from him. Now if he slowly improve his BA and his OBP, he could become a major prospect for the Sox's outfield again. He's been slumping again for the last week or so.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 07:21 AM) And I think him becoming a 4th outfielder would be very valuable. He's a strong defender who's capable of playing all three OF positions. His left-handed bat would work well behind Rios and Viciedo. Also, anything that gives John Danks another reason to stay long-term is a plus. Problem is...right now our 4th OF keeps winning games for us.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) That doesn't work though, because Manning wouldn't play at all. He'd be a bench warmer, you don't play 2 QBs. LeBron still played and his team still needed him to play well to win the title, which they didn't. In your example, the Patriots could win the Super Bowl without Manning playing a single down. I hope you get the idea though. Manning and Brady aren't complimentary players any more than Wade and James are. Miami was the only place where Lebron could have gone, maybe in the whole NBA other than the Lakers, where he wouldn't have been the guy. He went there so that he didn't have to be the guy all the time.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 06:09 AM) Adam Wainwright has thrown exactly one game in his entire Cardinals career for their AA organization. Every other game has been at AAA or the MLB level. I would honestly say that the Cardinals developed him as much as they did Chris Carpenter, which is to say they changed the way he pitched but didn't physically develop him as a pitcher. Hmph, I didn't realize they hadn't drafted him. In that case, my argument gets even stronger, the only 2 players that St. Louis has genuinely developed for their own organization, under the same stringent standards constantly used here to criticize the Sox's system, since Pujols are Molina and Rasmus. That's over a full decade.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) The NBA is the one sport in which it's viewed as a negative thing to have "too" much help. If Pujols signs with the Yankees, nobody is going to say he's taking the easy way out. They're just going to be in awe of a lineup that features Cano, Tex, Granderson, Pay-Rod and Pujols. If Adrian Peterson is a FA and signs with the Colts, people are going to say "Wow, Manning handing it off to Peterson?" That's going to be amazing. In the NBA, this could be because of Jordan, a superstar is allowed to have a sidekick and some quality roleplayers. Other than that, they're coasting or taking the easy way out. LeBron had a choice to go wherever the hell he wanted to go. He chose the Heat. I thought it was a b**** move. But the guy thought that was the best chance for him to win. He obviously wasn't worried about his legacy. So why the hell should I worry about it? You've got the wrong comparison. This one would be Peyton Manning, circa 2005, deciding to sign with the Patriots. Some people would say "Wow, that will be amazing". I might. But it'd still be Manning deciding to be Brady's 2nd hand.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:33 AM) Spoelstra should be thrown under the bus. The guy's offense is about as complex as my rec league team's offense. Spoelstra actually gets some serious credit for me. He had a system that got those guys playing mostly tenacious defense, actually playing to their strengths, and on offense, when they executed the offense they were deadly. He had a system that worked for those 3. The problem is that Lebron and Wade are big enough that if they decide to get on with the party and show off, no one has the power to tell them no. Game 2 is the best possible illustration of this effect. When they were playing within Spoelstra's offense, they pushed up 15. Then, the party started. The showoff 3's started. The ball movement stopped, and the Mavs stormed back.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) I don't buy that. He would be viewed as a coward either way for bolting Cleveland. If MJ or Kobe leave Chicago or LA because they couldn't get it done, their legacies are totally reshaped. The Decision was an all-time epic fail. But c'mon now. This isn't the worst thing that's ever happened in sports. It was a year ago. How much longer are you (not you) going to use that as diesel fuel to supplement your hatred for LeBron? If you want to critique LeBron for his sub par performance in the finals, have at it. I'm doing the same thing. But the whole Decision thing is tired now. If he went anywhere else on the list...Chicago, NYC, The Clippers, wherever...he wouldn't have had that venom nearly as much. The fact that he went to the one place where it was clear he wanted to make things easy on himself and wanted to get on with the party was the biggest indictment of all.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 12:58 AM) I dont think you can say Lebron is uncoachable, its not like hes had an established coach. The problem with Spoelstra as the coach of the Heat is that he just doesnt have the experience to handle 2 superstars. It all comes down to Wade/Lebron, they are going to need to sit down and figure it out. One of them has to be the man, it just didnt seem to work having them both try and be it. I think Lebron is uncoachable in one sense...he won't allow any team to hire a coach that would actually coach him. He hand-selected his coach and his teammates in Cleveland. He then picked which team he wanted to go to, and picked one where they wouldn't have a strong enough coach to say no to him. If you recall, when the Bulls interviewed him, they made it clear as can be that he wasn't getting special treatment. He wasn't going to get an entourage that the rest of the team didn't get, he wasn't going to have all his guys around, he wasn't going to get to hand-pick trades or hand-pick the offense like he did in Cleveland. At the time, many people thought the fact that Thibs would actually require things of him was one reason why he didn't come to Chicago.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 07:16 AM) If the Heat ditch Bosh and don't replace him with someone capable of a post game, they don't even make the finals. He will probably take "heat" that is uncalled for this post season. Nowhere near the reason they came up short. There isn't an all-star PF or C readily available on the FA market, but there are guys that they could fit in, depending on how the CBA shakes out. Some examples: Tyson Chandler Andre Kirilenko Samuel Dalembert Marc Gasol Chris Wilcox Kenyon Martin Carl Landry David West
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 08:44 AM) Let's face it: LeBron is a f***ing idiot. No denying that. But the entire planet has been trashing, insulting, etc, him all season long. LeBron was not going to win either way. Had the Heat won, it would've only been because he teamed up with Wade and Bosh. Had they lost? Well, we've already seen the aftermath of that. The only thing LeBron could've done last summer that wouldn't have the entire world hating him was to stay with the Cavs. I don't condone what LeBron said. But I can understand it. If I've got the entire world hating on me, I probably say a lot worse than that. That said, Dirk > LeBron. Lebron could have done anything other than going to the Heat to avoid that venom. Hell, if he'd gone to the Heat and done it without the Decision and the Party, that'd have helped too.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) This may be one of Miami's weaker years, I think in the future you will see improvement. Lebron/Wade need to figure out how that team is going to run, because its clearly not functioning correctly. It's all about the CBA for them now.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Balta, you arent even watching the games, how can you even take yourself seriously? As for Lebron, he didnt play well today, but thats not why Miami is losing. They are losing because Dallas shot better than Miami did and when you can shoot and the other team cant defend the three, you will win games. Its why I predicted Dallas by 6, so I guess I have no clue what Im talking about. So if Lebron was playing better, the Heat might be winning .
  20. I started watching in the fourth just to see if these dbags could be saved.
  21. So this is how this story ends.
  22. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) i think he got his usual 2 points So, queue SB telling us that he's facilitating?
  23. Has James scored this quarter?
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) let's see... 31 free throws attempted vs 12 for the Mavs. Um, yea. No one could have predicted.
