QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) So we can count stretches of 1977, 1983, 1990, 93/94, 2000 and 2005. Or do you think the 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2010 teams would also fall into that "great" category? The basic premise of that comment is we've never had enough Top 5-10 picks in the first round of the draft to really find any superstar players since the Ventura/Thomas/McDowell/Alex Fernandez selections over 2 decades ago. There's been a rough year or two, but I think the stretch from 1992 on has been a great stretch to be a White Sox fan.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) That I understood the point, or that the person writing the article understood? My point...that if cell phone transmissions were causing serious harm, then there should be geographic localization of that particular problem. Or economic localization, or age-based localization, etc. If Cell Phones were causing a ton of damage, then given that they've been around for a couple decades now, the trends should be pretty darn obvious.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Why would it take two months to determine Rios was holding his hands too low? Seems like a two-minute job. Rios has to be willing to listen. Moving his hands down last year supposedly helped make a big positive difference early in the season for him, now he had to raise them back up and stop doing what he thought worked last year.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Yea, it didn't appear that they linked this to radio signals from cell phones or the like. I just am wondering if there really is any cause and effect here. The answer is probably no, but I'm still hoping the point was understood.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) well that is good news. any idea to when Weiner will start his new job at CNN? Our good friend Mark Foley went on Fox News this week, Hannity's show, to suggest that Weiner should resign, but also defended the rights of adults to send sexually suggestive electronic messages to minors.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) So is there more autism (not because of population, but maybe per capita) in these more dense signal areas? Actually yes...but at present, the current guess is that its just better diagnosed in dense signal areas because the people are better educated/able to afford to take their kids to the doctor and realize something is wrong.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) What is our batting average this year with the bases loaded? It SEEMS like it must be something like .180 or so. Cleveland is hitting .535 with a 1.258 OPS with the bases loaded. Remarkable split. The Angels are hitting .184 with a .401 OPS. The Dodgers are hitting .179. The city of Los Angeles dislikes loaded bases.

The only difference between Beckham's HBP and Lillibridge's HBP was the fact that Lillibridges bounced up and hit Suzuki in the Balls, so the ump didn't see it because Suzuki was screaming. Suzuki's Balls have literally helped save them a run or two. Man, every ball is either laced right at someone or out of the strike zone.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Maybe Rios has been hitting better because he got rid of that stupid walk-up song he used to have.. He's starting off with his hands up at the numbers rather than down at the hips. Changes the bat orientation, trigger mechanism, and swing plane.

Despicable
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Here we go again. I've listened or watched pretty much every White Sox game since the mid 1980's. The problem is that I have TOO MUCH PAST White Sox perspective that it colors my perception today. I'll just have to learn to be content with 77-85 win teams for the next decade and 2nd/3rd place usually, I suppose. That's far better than the Sox averaged in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. YAY! GO SOX! We're neither very good nor bad enough to ever become great, either. Except for the great years, you're completely right, never good enough to become great except for the great years.

5/10 with his hands up for Rios, every one a solid hit up the middle.
