  1. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) Is a sign-and-trade with Orlando a possibility? It seems possible if they know Howard is leaving and they think Noah + Boozer/Taj have value? The difference here is that the Bulls would have no leverage to force a sign and trade. A sign and trade usually happens because a player wants to sign with another team and has the leverage to make it happen. For example, Lebron declared he was signing with the Heat, the Cavs worked it out as a sign and trade so that Lebron's contract got bigger but they swiped a bunch of draft picks. The Bulls can't sign Howard on their own without dumping those 2 guys elsewhere previously, so the Bulls have no leverage to force the Magic to deal. The only real way its a possibility is if you put together a deal that the Magic would actually want...in other words, it's the Carmelo situation, where the Knicks had to virtually gut their entire roster to get him because they didn't have the leverage otherwise.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Continuation of the previous thread.... But if they traded for Howard, wouldnt that change the equation? I dont know if Orlando wants Boozer, Deng, or Noah. But one or two of them would match salaries. Yes...BUT then Orlando is stuck with at least 1 of those contracts, which they probably don't want if they're losing Howard. Plus, they'd, you know, have to actually trade Howard to a team that can't sign him as a FA, which means that the Bulls would have no leverage in the situation.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Technically Taj would fill that void. I don't think the Bulls are all that much better with Taj at PF and an overpaid shooting guard (i.e. Joe Johnson) in the backcourt compared to having Boozer.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Dwight is no Shaq, but hed still be a significant upgrade over Noah and Ive never liked Boozer so Id do anything to get rid of him. The only way the Bulls can make it happen would be to trade Boozer for hopefully something Orlando wants, and then put Noah + picks and whatever it takes. Barring that, I think the Bulls should try and move Boozer for a solid sg, and then use whatever picks they have left to take some shots on guards or forwards. I really dislike the idea of opening up the PF hole again to try to fill the SG hole. Especially considering Boozer's contract size limits who you could get for him to equally overpaid SG's.
  5. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Thronton's failure is not only cuz of his lack of effectiveness but primarily the lack of any secondary pitches. Again, he's gotten people out for years without secondary pitches, the problem was suddenly his first pitch was totally being hammered.
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Guilty of thinking Sale should be the closer. Never again will I think a lefty closer is a good idea. Thornton's failure had nothing to do with him being LHed, and everything to do with him suddenly becoming totally ineffective.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) IMO, adding Dwight is almost like adding Shaq to Wade in 2006. Except a much younger Shaq.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) I can live with both Noah and Boozer being traded if the outcome results in Dwight. I dont think its going to happen though. I could live with it too...but the problem is...how to you make it happen?
  9. That's what she said.
  10. Under the current rules, the Bulls have 3 players under contract after 2012: Boozer, Deng, and Noah. Problem is, that alone is $41 million against the cap. In addition, the Bulls have a 2013 option on Taj Gibson they'd be likely to pick up, and there's this point guard that they need to extend. Under the current rules, in order to make a max contract Free Agency offer to Dwight Howard, the Bulls would need to turn 2 of Boozer, Deng, and Noah into expiring contracts this year.
  11. Pryor signs with Drew Rosenhaus.
  12. Relatively speaking...
  13. Oceans keep us apart.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) ...I guess I'm the only one who realizes we are still under .500 and 3.5 games back behind...the Cleveland Indians. 3.5 games back in June is nothing.
  15. Let's just agree that we're all a little dizzy.
  16. Just based on my recollection, there are very few skip errors, and usually they wind up producing extra posts. Safe to say we've gone thorugh this 180+ times.
  17. Here we go, as always I have to do the work. the 4940 posts here divided by 26 are 190 (with 8 posts in this pass). If I assume that we make one extra letter error per pass, Then we're at ~182 runs through.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Exactly how much of an allowance? For once...guess.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Winning 2 of 3 in Minny would be huge for this team, beyond just beating an ALC team. The mental impact could be huge. With this little run of good baseball the Sox are on, if they can add a series victory over their nemesis (and on the road, and when they are getting hot) to the resume, I think that's a big boost for their confidence. We NEED at least one. Getting swept undoes all of the good work we've done climbing out of the hole the last 2 weeks.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) To be honest, I like our 5 man rotation better without Peavy. Edwin Jackson thanks you for the vote of confidence.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Could someone count how many full laps this thread has made? Divide the total # of posts by 26 and then make some allowance for an error every time through or two.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) You'd have to find a way to multiply that times four to make them a viable franchise in MLB. Presumably with much higher ticket prices as well
  23. Dodgers owe Manroid a payment of $8.33 million by the end of this month.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) And it's built an inconsistent team (which is what I was going for, could've been more clear). Inconsistent? There are some words I'd use to describe the White Sox (underachievers), but inconsistent isn't one of them. They're still a team that's been under .500 what, once in the last decade? They're consistently in the race, and occasionally push to the top of it.
  25. I wonder, especially if a long lockout starts, if this might not be the last we see of Jason Kidd.
